Hi Eric, At last I got my laptop back from repair. Yes, using http://people.canonical.com/~ycmiao/lp668554/linux- image-2.6.35-23-generic_2.6.35-23.37_i386.deb the laptop boots without any problem with a display but still I can't enable advanced desktop effects. Further edid-get still reports erroneous output as before.
