[Bug 1899588] Re: Stuck at "Add Printer" (in CUPS web interface) on Ubuntu 20.04

2020-10-13 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
Not a solution, but at least a short-term solution.

I edited /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and commented out the following lines:
AuthType Default
Require user @SYSTEM

And it worked!

[Bug 1813441] Re: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications

A bit more explanation can be found here: https://didrocks.fr/2018/01/23

However, I am extremely disappointed. Ubuntu addresses general public,
not only nerds who don't make use of desktop icons.

[Bug 1628048] [NEW] Applet crashes when changing preferences

2016-09-27 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
Public bug reported:

The applet suddenly crashes when I save sensor preferences different to the
default ones. To repeat the bug:
1. Add to GNOME Panel, "Hardware Sensors Monitor" applet
2. Right-click on it, open "Preferences" then hit "Sensors"
3. Tick or untick sensors (for now, no problem) then "Close"
4. Bang! GNOME Panel is now shouting ""Hardware Sensors Monitor" has quit
unexpectedly"
5. I get sad

[Bug 1617438] [NEW] Incorrect version number of thinkfan in binary vs. package manager

2016-08-26 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
Public bug reported:

This bug has been noticed due to bug #1494546 [1] occurring on a
ThinkPad X1 with Ubuntu Xenial. I have installed the thinkfan package
from the official Ubuntu Xenial repositories. APT package manager
clearly shows:

$ apt-cache policy thinkfan
thinkfan:
  Installed: 0.9.2-1
  Candidate: 0.9.2-1
  Version table:
 *** 0.9.2-1 500
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

However, the buggy binary differs:

$ thinkfan -h
thinkfan 0.9.1: A minimalist fan control program
...

[Bug 1407069] [NEW] Memory leakage in indicator-applet-complete when using Spotify Linux

2015-01-02 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
Public bug reported:

Operating system: Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
Desktop manager: GNOME 3 Session Fallback (gnome-session-fallback 3.2.1)
Process in which the problem occurs: indicator-applet-complete 0.5.0-0ubuntu1
Process that reproduces the bug: Spotify Linux 0.9.11.27.g2b1a638c

The application is loaded as an Indicator Applet in GNOME with the
typical green icon of Spotify. That is, it is loaded into the process
indicator-applet-complete. The latter process usually use 50MB at worse
but when Spotify is launched and after a dozen of songs played,
indicator-applet-complete uses 600MB and at the end of the day, the
memory used is around 3GB...

After tests, this bug does not occur in Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS with gnome-
session-flashback 3.8.0. Hence, this bug does not duplicate bug #1340629

[Bug 1390494] [NEW] Unable to correctly render many Ghostscript/LaTeX produced files

2014-11-07 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
Public bug reported:

Hi everyone,

For months at least, Evince has been unable to render many PDF files
that have been - I suppose - produced by Ghostcript/LaTeX traditional
compilers. I assume this is a bug as Adobe Acrobat Reader correctly
display them both in Linux and Mac OS X. Evince shows no common error
related to those files. The version I am using is 3.4.0 under Ubuntu
12.04 Precise LTS.

Here is an example of bug that occurs in Evince 3.4.0.

[Bug 1242259] Re: Thinkpad x1 Volume up down and mute keys stopped working after upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10

2014-03-09 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
Same problem with ThinkPad X1 on Ubuntu 12.04 with recent kernel
upgrade. Volume Up and Volume Down buttons are recognized by the system
but the « VolumeUp » and « VolumeDown » commands do not respond anymore.
Even if I assign them other shortcut keys (Parameters Keyboard
Shortcuts).

The problem does not come from the ThinkPad X1 keyboard but from Ubuntu
volume management commands.

[Bug 1054808] Re: Default filename for screenshots is problematic

2013-02-19 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
I am a regular user of the NTFS-3G driver and for such matter I have
linked my picture folder with the one on my Windows' partition for
usages on various softwares on both Linux and Windows.

Printing screen with the printscreen button is really convenient but
becomes questionable when files have names with characters that are not
supposed to be handled in Windows such as :. Thus my Windows partition
becomes quickly unreliable and a simple chkdsk /f deletes such kind of
files...

This is the reason why, it would be interesting for the user to specifiy
a regular expression in a configuration file in order to get a
customized default screenshot file name.

Thanks,
Hai

[Bug 549939] [NEW] package scim 1.4.9-1ubunt u2 failed to install/upgrade: le sous-processus script p ost-installation installé a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 2

2010-03-27 Thread Hai NGUYEN VAN
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: scim

- My machine had a long period (for some months) of untimely freezing
(Input/Output Latency at least 100% according to the System Monitor) :
I never had the chance to set apart the responsible process (lauching
either gnome-process either ps axl was impossible) but I suspected
npviewer.bin (Adobe Flash Applications) due to other Ubuntu user
testimonies. Moreover frozen moments has led myself to mistreat my
machine, because of no other way for me to reboot it correctly : most of
the time, I switched to another tty to send the HALT signal
(CTRL+ALT+Del). It happend at least 50 or 60 times, now it has stopped
(thanks to some kind of updates : which one ? \o/).

I guess that matter can heavily affect my packages and its management.
