[Bug 1915501] Re: init.d script fails to set socket ownership and permissions on slower systems

2021-02-27 Thread Harald Jenny
Dear Nick,

first thanks for your bug report the problem is already known (Debian bug
#854180) and worked around in commit
https://salsa.debian.org/haraldj-guest/amavisd-milter/-/commit/33e39f13387bc29e011ff1d55475c8ead3ca1dad.
The real fix was done by the upstream author to create the pipe before
returning control to the init script but this fix is only available in version
1.7.0 of amavisd-milter. So my advice would be to either apply the fix from
https://salsa.debian.org/haraldj-guest/amavisd-milter/-/commit/33e39f13387bc29e011ff1d55475c8ead3ca1dad
which loops forever with a shorter delay time or to rebuild the source package
from Ubuntu Hirsute Hippo which incorporates the fix.
For rebuilding the source package please look at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bionic-backports/+bug/1905541 where I already
documented the requirements. You may also request a official backport by
creating a bug report at https://launchpad.net/bionic-backports but mine wasn't
considered until now.
Again thanks for your report and your work I'm currently unsure what to do with
your bug report as I don't know how to best fix this issue in a LTS release.

Kind regards
Harald Jenny

[Bug 972975] Re: [needs-packaging] openswan 2.6.38

2012-07-21 Thread Harald Jenny
Dear Vasea Pupkin,

currently openswan 2.6.38 (with some important patches added ontop) in
available in Debian experimental. As Debian Wheezy release has already
entered the freeze I'm not sure if there will be an exception made so if
you really need the package you may download the sources from Debian
experimental and recompile it for Ubuntu (the relevant commands should
be dget and dpkg-buildpackage).

Dear bug reporters

as this bug is already aged I wanted to ask if it can be closed - if not
could you please provide more information:

openswan version
kernel version
openswan configuration (private informations obfuscated)

Wild guess would be that in your installation opportunistic encryption
was activated which may have caused this problem.

the first bug with kernel version 2.6.24 you mentioned was fixed in

Dear bug reporter,

with newer NETKEY versions also NAT-T works out of the box so normally
KLIPS is not needed anymore. Compilation of the KLIPS module now also
works without patching the kernel by using openswan-modules-source and

[Bug 601227] Re: high latency and occasional hangs

2012-01-01 Thread Harald Jenny
This problem is not related to openswan but to the kernel so this bug
should be closed or reassigned to the kernel maintainers - is the
problem already solved for you?

[Bug 601227] Re: high latency and occasional hangs

2012-01-01 Thread Harald Jenny
Well the only thing to be sure about the issue would be to check if the
behaviour also occurs with for example strongswan or racoon as well - it
is possible that openswan may have problems when rekeying under heavy
traffic but without further testing this cannot be verified.

[Bug 622] Re: disabled smartcard support prevent using usb token with openswan

2012-01-01 Thread Harald Jenny
If it is still relevant: openswan 2.6.23 removed the old smartcard code
in favour of NSS so currently possible migration scenarios are evaluated

Thanks, can you confirm that they actually work, ie. that you are able to
dialup to internet or send/receive a fax ?

This may take some days sorry.

Official packages are not yet supporting kernel 2.6.35 - due to Debian
Squeeze freeze this may take some time, in the meantime you may use
