I have to correct my statement above. Even 0.62 version does not work.
Ubuntu is unusable on this hardware.

I am also facing the same problem. This happens on the livecd too. So I
am almost sure it is a problem with the forcedeth network driver. Please
fix this or give me some workarounds.

I tried the 0.62 version of forcedeth found at
https://launchpad.net/~waster/+archive/ppa but still face the same problem.

After rebooting with the 0.62 version of forcedeth it seems to work.
Will confirm after doing more tests.
