[Bug 1113454] Re: Artefacts with nouveau driver

2013-02-27 Thread Hein
Seems that it is a problem with Nouveau drivers that is known. Yesterday I discovered that in softwaresources I could now select the old Nvidia 173 driver. This solved all my problems instantly: no freezes, no artefacts and reasonable speed. For me the bug is purely 'academic' now. At least

[Bug 1113452] Re: Konversation ignores default browser settings in LXDE

2013-02-20 Thread Eike Hein
Konversation uses the standard API to launch a web browser offered by the KDE Platform lirbaries. The implementation of that API is designed to fall back to xdg-open if an application is not run inside a KDE workspace session. I'm guessing the LXDE developers haven't contributed an LXDE codepath

2013-02-09 Thread Hein
This is the dmesg just after the problem arises. I have found out that disabling in Compiz - Opengl the following items: - framebuffer object - Vertex buffer object - Always use buffer swapping Decreases the impact of the bug. At least the application windows are redrawn after artefacts show.

[Bug 1113454] Re: Artefacts with nouveau driver

2013-02-06 Thread Hein
it seems to be related to compositing. I have installed LXDE and I'm already working all morning without any problems opening and closing programs, browsing the web etc. In 'plain' Ubuntu I would already have had artefacts causing me to restart X. There a lot of problems with Nvidia and Nouveau
