2011-02-23 Thread Hew McLachlan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mumble

I cannot choose a shortcut for the push-to-talk hotkey, but the problem
applies to any hotkey. It says Press Shortcut, but no matter what key
I press, it does not do anything. Occurs in both audio wizard and
settings.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Configure / Settings
2) Shortcuts / Add
3) Function / Push-to-Talk
4) Click Shortcut so it displays Press Shortcut
5) Press any button you wish to use (eg. Left Ctrl)

What should happen:
The chosen hotkey is displayed and the settings can be applied.

What actually happens:
Press Shortcut is still displayed and no hotkey is registered.

[Bug 537763] Re: Asus Eee PC 1201n: Function Keys

2010-06-04 Thread Hew McLachlan
While function keys such as Fn+F2 still don't work, a workaround is to
enable/disable this in the BIOS.

** Tags added: regression-release

** Description changed:

  Hello at all,

I have the current Ubuntu 9.10 (Kernel 2.6.31.20).
I have also a new Eee PC 1201N (that new one with dual core i3 == Atom 330m).
So this is quite new.

Some function keys (those special keys, that can be access with that
special fn-Key.) don't work. That does actually mean that I cannot get
any event, when using xev for testing. I personally would not expect
to have complete functionality assiged, because they are strange
somehow, but an event in general would be great. I tried several eee
packages from the standard distro, but without any success. After
studying other manuals I discovered that EeePC is not EeePC - they are
different, especially regarding the available special keys.

+ WORKAROUND:
+ Enable/disable devices such as wireless in the BIOS, press F2 when booting.
+
  Well to make it short:
This is the list of keys on the 1201N along with a description what they
should do (copied from manual) and what actually happens on Ubuntu 9.10
(2.6.31.20):

  __Zz Icon (Fn+F1):__
Places the Eee PC in suspend mode (Save-to-RAM).

  = Result: Works!
-

__Radio Tower (Fn+F2) (Wireless Models Only):__
Toggles the internal wireless LAN or Bluetooth (on selected models) ON or OFF
with an on-screen-display. When enabled, the corresponding wireless indicator
  will light.

= Result: Works not really, because the BlueTooth is not switched off. I
would
expect that this switch affects both modules, BT and Wireless! The above
description speaks with or, but that refers to the possible configurations
of the Eee PCs - and it's an inclusive OR. Another area in the manual makes
this
  assumption quite realistic.

-
  __Sun Down Icon (Fn+F5):__
  Decreases the display brightness.
-
+

[Bug 549351] [NEW] [FFe] Sync darkstat 3.0.713-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2010-03-26 Thread Hew McLachlan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: darkstat

This is mostly a bugfix release, being the first Darkstat release in
over a year. The --wait workaround feature was created for bug 249038
that seems to have disappeared in Lucid, but should still be useful in
case the issue reappears.

I have tested the Debian 3.0.713-1 amd64 package on Ubuntu Lucid and it
works just fine. I also tested two release candidates during
development, along with other users of other distributions.

v3.0.713 (March 2010)
- Don't require --verbose for pcap_stats.
- Survive interface going down on Linux.
- Support DLT_RAW, implemented by Anton S. Ustyuzhanin.
- Skip accounting for hosts or ports if their max is set to zero.
- Implement --hexdump for troubleshooting.
- Web: Implement --no-lastseen
- Implement --snaplen manual override.
- Fix snaplen problem on recent (1-2 years?) Linux kernels.
- Implement --syslog
- Implement --wait as a NetworkManager workaround.

 darkstat (3.0.713-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream release
   * Remove fetch-upstream-changelog upstream from debian/rules
and remove changelog.upstream from debian/, upstream now includes this
 on the tarball, thanks Emil!.
   * Set standards-version to 3.8.4 ( no changes needed )

[Bug 545065] [NEW] pulseaudio ratelimit.c messages and jittery sound

2010-03-23 Thread Hew McLachlan
Public bug reported:

I receive a whole bunch of messages in messages.log:

Mar 24 00:08:41 quad pulseaudio[1463]: ratelimit.c: 344 events suppressed
Mar 24 00:08:46 quad pulseaudio[1463]: ratelimit.c: 976 events suppressed

Mar 24 00:09:02 quad pulseaudio[1463]: ratelimit.c: 980 events suppressed

This only happens at certain times, like when playing some songs with
rhythmbox or banshee. The sound goes jittery, like a slight pause a few
times each second. This happened on my old machine as well. I have done
a fresh install of Lucid Beta 1 but the problem still occurs.

[Bug 450852] Re: GNOME-Do uses 200% (two cores) of CPU.

2010-03-23 Thread Hew McLachlan
Same problem, 400% CPU on quad core with gnome-do 0.8.3.1+dfsg-1 on
Lucid. I cannot work out what is triggering the issue; sometimes a
command causes it, but usually it's fine.

** Changed in: gnome-do (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided = Medium
