Hi. I'm using a Dell XPS 13 QHD+ (2015 version, model 9343), running
Ubuntu Gnome 15.04.
When I use the brightness control buttons to lower the backlight
brightness, the lower end of the range (as reported by cat
/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness) is as
2.6.27-5 still has this bug.

My problem is twofold.
First, when I adjust my laptop screen's backlight (Fn+Up/Down), the
'hald-addon-dell-backlight' starts taking 100% CPU until I kill it.
After killing it, subsequent adjustments to the backlight do not cause
this, for obvious reasons.

This is an issue with both 2.6.27-1 and 2.6.27-2. Reverting back to
2.6.26-5 works (had to copy the packages over via USB of course).

Watching videos using the xvideo extension (e.g. mplayer -vo xv)
produces lots of on-screen artifacts, making it unusable. A workaround
is to add the following to the Device section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Option DMAForXV off
Though I suspect this results in worse
The patch has a side effect. If you press CTRL+L you can no longer go
back by pressing ESC. You have to either enter some location and press
enter or click that button there with the mouse.
