When booting a kernel with overlayfs build-in, ie not as a module, booting
incorrectly errors out with:
/cow format specified as 'overlay' and no support found
This turns out to be a false-positive since, in scripts/casper we have:

When I start a game (Surviving Mars) via Steam the framerates are
abysmal, somewhere between 10 to 20 fps. On 17.4.22 it still hit 60 fps.
When my screen is attached to the 6600 XT card and the game is running,
the following can be seen:

Adding on to this to say we're experiencing this issue on all Ubuntu
18.04 systems and we're also running xfs for a filesystem. It seems to
be related to /var/lib/lxcfs on all of those systems. When we exclude
/var/lib/lxcfs from du, it completes without core dumping.

Apparently Corsair RAM (I had 2x 8GB DDR4) sometimes causes problems with Linux
(when everything works fine with Windows).
It was changed by a company specialized in Linux which uses Crucial or Kingston.

Further investigation indicates that this looks to be something weird about the
WSL2 resolver implementation.

I have installed nvidia-driver-470 tested and updated by ubuntu, and the bug
disappear !!
I note that the version of the nvidia driver passed from 470.62 to 470.82, is
it the reason why it works now ? i don't know.

It seems to have solved the problem.

Thunderbird under Wayland

My computer was working fine with Ubuntu 20.04 and all of the sudden it
started to freeze all the time, including on the purple log in page.
The computer hardware has been extensively tested (the SSD and
