[Bug 887933] Re: KDE taskbar (the bottom panel) doesn't respond occasionally

2011-12-29 Thread Jacek_G
Same situation on 3 laptops i use KUBUNTU 11.10 on all:
dell inspiron 1520 nvidia card
dell inspiron q17r intel (optimus-nvidia) card
hp g72 intel (switcheroo ati) card
Happens only when desktop effects are ON.
So i dont think that problem is connected to video card,

[Bug 577878] [NEW] starting external monitor crashes X

2010-05-09 Thread Jacek_G
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

im trying to use external monitor (samsung p2470HD) with my laptop HP NX7400 -
it uses i950 graphic
when i connect external monitor i can use it as a clone of my display, a can
sometimes change its resolution to full HD, but sometimes it casues X server to
die - it starts blinkg (trying to change resolution) and then i see login
screen.
And also when i try to make it work as additional display (left or right to my
laptop screen) it act the same - blinkg, and reset of X server all the time. I
use krandtray (with uses the internal kde configuration). Bug affects kubuntu
10.04 (upgraded from 9.08).

same thing with intel cards - i have hp nx7400 and i950GMA on board.
Interesting thing is that, when i disconect or connect power cord or
ethernet wire the last touch of lid close button is working (i mean that
when i have closed lid before this). It might have been problem with
sending signals - something might be blocking singals form lid button.
(sory for my english ;) )

You might all be interested to know that I have found some intriguing
symptoms. I was just wondering if you all had an ati card and you were
all using the open ati drivers on it as opposed the fglrx drivers. if so
try the vesa drivers by adding Driver vesa in to the Device section of
your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, reboot and watch the lid button button
mysteriously start working again! I know this sounds odd but these are
the empirical facts also try pressing the lid button when loading and
you are on the linux kernel but not your xorg drivers and 'hey presto'
the screen will blank. We may have been 'barking up the wrong tree' to
 coin a phrase.

Re: [Bug 139187] Re: kubuntu refuses to suspend on lid close

2007-11-20 Thread Jacek_G
Hi!!
i have found strange thing - today, when i plug in ethernet cable and in
the same moment turnoff wifi (using button), a might have accidentaly
touched the lid close button, and it worked, but after staring laptop
again it didnt have worked (i do not user hibernating, and suspending -
just turning off when closing lid). So i think that it is working in
certian moments, but i dont know in whick - still this is a bug, and
mayby someone how knows kernel deeper might check kernel part of lid
closing from feisty (when it was working) and compare it with part from
gutsy.
Thank for any help guys!!

Still this is not a good solution... it was workind in feisty, so what
have been changed since?

I think that once I have used the suspend key, closing the lid works
 until I reboot the laptop.
