[Bug 1579712] Re: Refresh hangs due to strdup on non-NULL terminated string

2016-05-19 Thread Jacob Taylor
I have appstream 0.9.4-1 installed and every time it is run
(automatically, not by me) it spikes cpu to 100%. I cannot even purge
and reinstall it, because it is run during the setup phase (to force a
new index) which pegs the cpu. Is 0.9.4-1 supposed to be ~= 0.9.6 of
upstream?

2016-05-19 Thread Jacob Taylor
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1579712 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579712

I'm suffering the same issue.

`sudo apt purge appstream`

did not save me. Now it's locked at 100% cpu when I `sudo apt install
appstream`. Won't finish setting up appstream 0.9.4-1, htop says the
command running is `appstream refresh-index --force`.

Alright. I was trying to get alternative sound systems working in wine,
at the time (to no avail, but that's a different issue). Thanks for the
heads up.

[Bug 1128348] Re: Unity starts without panels

2013-02-19 Thread Jacob Taylor
This is a show stopper. You cannot deal with the UI. I just updated to
the latest nightly (package says bzr3163) and I now have no panels. I
tried to manually launch unity (sudo and not, via ctrl-alt-t to get
terminal) and it spits out unity-panel-service: no process found.

What else can I do to help?

Just pulled in bzr 3164. It exits more cleanly when I try to launch
unity on top if itself, but unity-panel-service is still missing.

[Bug 556815] [NEW] post app installation refocuses inside window

2010-04-06 Thread Jacob Taylor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

Steps to replicate:
1: open software center
2: select package for installation from huge `get software` list (without going
to `info` page)
3: click install
4: continue scrolling down the list of applications
5: software center will now steal focus from whatever thing you were looking at
farther down the list of applications, and bring it back to your
previously-selected-for-install application's line, telling you it's done
installing with a little `installed` thing

Expected outcome:
I would expect the program to not redirect focus in that way, and instead maybe
use the system pop-ups that appear bottom right (by default) or in some other
place within the application so focus is not redirected.

I'm using ubuntu 10.04 pre-release with the latest updates
and ubuntu software center Version: 1.1.23
on amd64 (if that matters).

[Bug 362196] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in signal handler called()

2009-09-03 Thread Jacob Taylor
When it Crashed for me, it ( as far as I could tell) never actually
crashed. Unless it was before I got to the login screen or something, it
never visibly crashed. I'm not sure what crashing xorg would look like,
but it definetely didn't look out of character at all when the thing
popped up saying something (xorg) had crashed.

[Bug 289578] [NEW] Windows redrawing within themselves(Restricted Drivers Manager)

2008-10-26 Thread Jacob Taylor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: restricted-manager

When I double click on the Restricted Drivers Manager icon in my top-
right bar(next to the clock), it of course launches the manager. If you
double click the icon again while the manager has already been opened,
it just appends the area of the window that isn't the title bar to the
right side of the current one, making one window with 2 driver manager
windows in it. They are not separated, and they share the title bar of
the window.

I will restart now, and add a screenshot of what it looks like, I want
to verify reproducibility.

Confirmed, The tray application only runs the very first time you enable
restricted drivers, that's the only time it's reproduce-able.
