[Bug 1578543] [NEW] Missing dependencies

2016-05-05 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

Installing this package on it's own with the listed requirements does
not result in a working application.

Installing the packages python-pycryptopp and python-pkg-resources made
it run.

See session below.

is some missing package in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-

Checking that led me to python-pycryptopp

[Bug 1439716] Re: ntfs_test fails on build

2015-05-05 Thread Jan de Haan
Hi Mathieu,

according to the snippet below, the test is performed in case
mkfs.ntfs is installed, which is part of the package ntfs-3g.

Sincerely,

Jan.

#!/bin/sh

set -e

if [ x$EUID = x ] ; then
  EUID=`id -u`
fi

if [ $EUID != 0 ] ; then
   exit 77
fi

if ! which mkfs.ntfs /dev/null 21; then
echo mkfs.ntfs not installed; cannot test ntfs.
   exit 77

[Bug 1439716] [NEW] ntfs_test fails on build

2015-04-02 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

Building grub2 from source with

   sudo debian/rules binary

fails on my up to date trusty tahr (14.04.2) system.

As far as I can determine deinstalling ntfs-3g creates a workaround.

Log file of the failed build attached.

[Bug 1434512] [NEW] grubnetx64.efi.signed does not handle shop option 210 (pathprefix)

2015-03-20 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

In an project of replacing the classic pxelinux.0 with a uefi compatible
one, I stumbled on a difference between grubnetx64 and pxelinux.0:

For pxelinux.0 we make heavy use of this feature: Note that all
filename references are relative to the directory pxelinux.0 lives in.

Debugging pxe boots with grubnetx64 shows that it tries to load it's
config files from the absolute root:

(note that bootx64.efi is a link to grubnetx64.efi.signed)

Digging further shows the dhcp option 210 (path-prefix), which might
help. Question is whether grubnetx64 supports this.

[Bug 1396698] [NEW] Compiling the webkit package gives missing GL/gl.h

2014-11-26 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

After installing all developer versions of the depending libraries I
expected the package to compile cleanly after a configure and make.
however the compile failed with a missing GL/gl.h. I installed mesa-
common-dev (the most likely candidate) and reran make, which is
continuing at the moment.

Same as #62. #55 solved it for me too. Should we file a bug against
iscsitarget=1.4.20.2-5ubuntu3.3 ?

[Bug 986841] Re: Debug log created by Adobe Reader browser plugin (nppdf.so)

2013-10-17 Thread Jan de Haan
sed rules. One liner to change the root cause of this.

sudo find / -name nppdf.so | xargs sudo sed -i
's/C:\\nppdf32Log\\debuglog.txt/.\/.nppdf32Log.debuglog.txt/g'

Use at your own risk. Safe way to do this would be of course to remove
all 'C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt' files,

   sudo find / -name 'C:\\nppdf32Log\\debuglog.txt' -print0 | xargs -0
--max-args=1 sudo rm

find all nppdf.so files and copy them to a working area directory for
safe keeping and to edit,

   mkdir ~/tmp
   sudo find / -name nppdf.so

   cp /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so ~/tmp/nppdf.so-org
   cp /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so ~/tmp/nppdf.so-sed

run the sed command on your to-edit-version,

   sed -i 's/C:\\nppdf32Log\\debuglog.txt/.\/.nppdf32Log.debuglog.txt/g'
~/tmp/nppdf.so-sed

replace the original with yours,

   sudo cp ~/tmp/nppdf.so-sed /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so
   sudo chown root:root /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so

reboot and test.

   sudo shutdown -r -y now

[Bug 1157643] Re: procps fail to start

2013-10-16 Thread Jan de Haan
The same as #12, tcp_mem, after upgrading to 6.1.

Disabled it in /etc/sysctl.d/30iscsitarget, it's rebooting now with a
_large_ filesystem that's being fsck-ed :-(

Old physical box, no virtual funny things, plain 12.04 precise.

[Bug 1002461] [NEW] grub-mount hangs on every invocation

2012-05-21 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

See bug 988583

Extra info:

2 disks,
/dev/sda1 /boot jfs
/dev/sda2 exteded
/dev/sda5 lvm2 vg00

/dev/sdb1 lvm2vg00

vg00: /, /usr, /var, /var/log, /home, /tmp (all jfs) + swap

All created on a fresh 12.04 install.

Strangely enough does gparted show sdb1 to have a label boot as well,
allthough this _can_ be a leftover of a previous (8.04) install.

Second: lsof shows grub-mount to have open /dev/sdb1 only...

Building upstream grub and replacing grub-mount does not help.

[Bug 899909] Re: Unexpected core dumps

2011-12-06 Thread Jan de Haan
Tested for two days with backported kernel 2.6.38 from pool/main/l
/linux-lts-backport-natty/linux-
image-2.6.38-13-generic_2.6.38-13.52~lucid1_i386.deb. Problem did not
reoccur. Seems to be specific to linux-image-2.6.32-36-generic. As far
as I'm concerned this bugreport can be closed.

2011-12-06 Thread Jan de Haan
A couple of posibilities:

1) did you install the corresponding linux-header* package? The
missing linux/autoconf.h:
does seem to point that way.
2) I _assume_ that oracle/vbox create their packages on the LTS versions
of Ubuntu. Maybe you get into trouble if you try to install it on a more
recent
version.

Sincerely,

Jan.

ok .. so what I have to downgrade the kernel to be able to run VBox ??
That doesn't sound right. I got the newest VBox build from their site
and had all updates already applied in Ubuntu fom the update manager.
then I got that error. so the issue is due to which conflict? the kernel
not being supported by the rest of Ubuntu or with VBox?

2011-12-04 Thread Jan de Haan
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

After upgrading on Dec. 2 to this kernel, the laptop experienced two
unexpected core dumps, which didn't happen before (with linux-
  image-2.6.32-35-generic) nor after (with linux-image-2.6.38-13-generic),
when I upgraded. Traces added below. System was idle, unattended, with
the wi-fi adapter (which this concernes) unused (physically disabled,
ethernet cable attached and in use), when I heard an abnormal beep both
  times.

[Bug 899909] [NEW] Unexpected core dumps

2011-12-04 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

After upgrading on Dec. 2 to this kernel, the laptop experienced two
unexpected core dumps, which didn't happen before (with linux-
image-2.6.32-35-generic) nor after (with linux-image-2.6.38-13-generic),
when I upgraded. Traces added below. System was idle, unattended, with
the wi-fi adapter (which this concernes) unused (physically disabled,
ethernet cable attached and in use), when I heard an abnormal beep both
times.

More info available on request.

[Bug 805359] [NEW] netbase.md5sums file missing

2011-07-04 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

When trying to verify the integrity of an ubuntu system, it failed
because of the unavailability of the file
/var/lib/dpkg/info/netbase.md5sums. This file is not only missing in
Lucid LTS but also in the most recent Natty Narwal. Please fix this,
it's a simple mistake, easy to correct and helps a lot in achieving
Nirwana (automatic total integrity verification).

I'm sorry to spoil the fun but I see the same problem on Lucid with the
new package.

Only thing that might be of interest is that this is a xen 4 guest.

[Bug 687535] Re: upstart loses track of ssh daemon after reload ssh

2011-02-02 Thread Jan de Haan
I'm sorry to spoil the fun but I see the same problem on Lucid with the
new package.

Only thing that might be of interest is that this is a xen 4 guest.

More info and tests available on request.

[Bug 498146] [NEW] No sound due to no groupmembership audio

2009-12-18 Thread Jan de Haan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kino

After installing kino in karmic with apt-get install kino, sound (and
normal replay) was not working in kino with the error message that
/dev/dsp was not available. Checking the device revealed that the rights
were limited to root:audio rw-rw---. After adding the desktop user to
the audio group with vigr and vigr -s and logging in anew, it works ok.

Two possible solutions:

Adding the current user to group audio during kino install in
kino.postinst.

Defining a desktop group which has rights on the device and make the
desktop users members of that group.

** Affects: kino (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
