[Bug 1816264] Re: software center stuck on Chrome package dialog
I previously launched it through the UI, so I didn't see the console output; now I've launched it from the terminal. In the freshly booted VM: 1. open two terminal windows (window A and window B) 2. in terminal window A, run "gnome-software" 3. click on a random app (I'm clicking on "powershell" under "Editor's Picks") 4. press the "X" in the top-right corner to close the window [note: gnome-software stays running in the background!] 5. in window B, run "gnome-software" 6. focus the window that just opened 7. attempt to click the left-arrow in the upper-right corner of the window At this point, window A shows the following (with an assertion failure that sounds relevant): user@ubuntu1810vm:~$ gnome-software 01:13:19:0703 Gs enabled plugins: desktop-categories, fwupd, os-release, packagekit, packagekit-local, packagekit-offline, packagekit-proxy, packagekit-refine-repos, packagekit-refresh, packagekit-upgrade, packagekit-url-to-app, shell-extensions, ubuntuone, appstream, desktop-menu-path, hardcoded-blacklist, hardcoded-featured, hardcoded-popular, modalias, packagekit-refine, rewrite-resource, steam, ubuntu-reviews, packagekit-history, provenance, snap, systemd-updates, generic-updates, provenance-license, icons, key-colors, key-colors-metadata 01:13:19:0703 Gs disabled plugins: dpkg, dummy, repos, epiphany, odrs 01:13:20:0828 Gs Only 0 apps for recent list, hiding 01:13:33:0176 Gs gs_shell_go_back: assertion '!g_queue_is_empty (priv->back_entry_stack)' failed journalctl doesn't show anything interesting: Mär 20 02:13:13 ubuntu1810vm systemd-timesyncd[368]: Timed out waiting for reply from [2001:67c:1560:8003::c7]:123 (ntp.ubuntu.com). [Bug 1816264] Re: software center stuck on Chrome package dialog
re #4: No, it doesn't seem to be specific to wayland - after switching back to X11 and rebooting, the bug can still be triggered the same way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816264 Title: software center stuck on Chrome package dialog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1816264/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Simple reproducer in a freshly booted system: - open Ubuntu Software Center - click on some random package - close the window - open Ubuntu Software Center - attempt to use the back button ("<") in the upper-left corner of the window -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816264 Title: software center stuck on Chrome package dialog To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1816264/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1816264] Re: software center stuck on Chrome package dialog
[Testing on wayland, in case that matters.] I downloaded a .deb file with Firefox, then opened it with "Ubuntu Software Center", installed it, and then closed the dialog associated with Ubuntu Software Center. Now, opening "Ubuntu Software Center" gets me back to the dialog displaying details about the installed package, and the "back" button in the upper left doesn't work. Killing the gnome-software process and then relaunching the software center gets me back to the software center's main screen. If I now click on a package, the back button in the upper left works.
[Bug 1816264] [NEW] software center stuck on Chrome package dialog
Public bug reported: I am running Ubuntu 18.10 with Wayland in a fresh VM. I configured the VM to use Wayland, downloaded Google Chrome from https://google.com/chrome, installed Chrome by opening the package with Ubuntu Software Center and pressing the install button, and closed Ubuntu Software Center. Now, when I open Ubuntu Software Center again, I see a dialog with title "google-chrome-stable" (the package name) and some information about the package. The dialog has something that looks like a "back" button in the top-left corner, but clicking it does nothing. [Bug 1425685] Re: Missing input sanitation in upstart logrotation cronjob
I'm not sure whether this is the right place to write this, but those permission checks look really racy - both the file type test and the file owner UID check. (Besides, I think that an attacker should be able to hardlink a file created by another user into his directory, which would also lead to a bypass of the UID equality check, but I'm not familiar enough with ubuntu to be able to say whether that attack is actually feasible.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425685 Title: Missing input sanitation in upstart logrotation cronjob To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/1425685/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
