[Bug 1875498] Re: smart-notifier installs, but has missing requirments

2020-07-30 Thread Jason Edgecombe
Hello,

I installed the proposed smart-notifier (0.28-6~ubuntu20.04.1) package.
It worked for me when I ran "/usr/bin/smart-notifier --notify <<< 'hi
there'"

Thanks!
Jason

[Bug 1868159] [NEW] [MIR] adcli

2020-03-19 Thread Jason Edgecombe
Public bug reported:

I request that the adcli package be included in main.

adcli is a key support tool for the many organizations that use Linux
machines with Active Directory. Many enterprises are requiring that
Linux machine join their AD domains and use AD authentication.

adcli is a necessity for using kerberized NFS4 in an Active Directory
environment. NFS4 with kerberos (sec=krb5 mount option). adcli is used
to add the nfs/hostname service name to the machine's keytab and AD
computer account, which is required on the NFS server and any NFS4
clients using leases.

** Affects: adcli (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1868154] [NEW] [MIR] realmd

2020-03-19 Thread Jason Edgecombe
Public bug reported:

I request that the realmd package be included in the main repository.

I've checked the following things:

---
1. Availability: realmd is already in universe. It's compiled for all
platforms.

2. Rationale: This is used by many enterprise or organizations that use
Microsoft's Active Directory as their main directory system. This
package is the most sensible way to have Linux machines join an AD
domain. As security policies become tighter, more enterprises are
requiring the Linux machines use Active Directory for authentication.

3. Security:

The changelog goes from 2013 to Oct 2019. It has been supported for a
while and is receiving updates.

4. Quality Assurance:

The realm tool is well documented. It asks no debconf questions that I'm
aware of.

I'm using it in production systems. It's been very stable. I've
reviewed the debian and ubuntu bugs for realmd. I don't see any show-
stopper bugs. The bugs that are open are no longer applicable or have
workarounds.

The packages have no exotic hardware dependencies.

5. UI Standards: This is a backend package. UI standards don't apply.

---

I'm not fluent enough with Ubuntu packaging to handle the in-depth
package checking.

** Affects: realmd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1831448] Re: adcli: not adding an additional service-name

2019-09-26 Thread Jason Edgecombe
Hi Alexander,

RedHat fixed this issue in
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2016-0763.html , which is why CentOS7
works, but I think the patch needs to be ported to ubuntu.

[Bug 1653457] [NEW] Three finger tap not working for "ELAN1010:00 04F3:3012 Touchpad"

2017-01-01 Thread Jason Edgecombe
Public bug reported:

three-finger taps are not working with my touchpad. One-finger, two-
finger, three-finger, four-finger, and five-finger taps are detected by
evtest, but only single and double finger taps are detected by xev. All
other touchpad features are working, including two-finger vertical
scrolling, two-finger horizontal scrolling, tap and drag, clicking on
the left and right virtual buttons on the bottom of the touchpad.

My end goal is to use two-finger tap for paste (i.e. middle click) and
three-finger for right-click, but the three-finger tap is not detected.

If it matters, a two-finger tap still brings up the right-click menu
after running "synclient TapButton2=2".

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS x86_64 on a Dell Inspiron 7559. logs from
xev and evtest are attached.

[Bug 499497] Re: reboot=pci boot parameter required to reboot iMac10, 1

2010-05-04 Thread Jason Edgecombe
It's still a bug. Tested with Lucid LiveCD x86_64. It still needs the
reboot=pci kernel option to reboot properly. I haven't tested the
upstream kernels. I doubt that I'll have the time to test the upstream
kernels.
