[Bug 1612492] Re: remounting breaks size reporting and rsync

2017-06-24 Thread Jason Xing
Sure. But maybe we need to take more time since he is recently very
busy. If this bug doesn't have much affect on you, we could wait.
Otherwise, you can test it and apply it in your kernel. After all, it
can solve your problem though it may not be the best way.

please tell me. Thanks.

[Bug 1612492] Re: remounting breaks size reporting and rsync

2017-06-21 Thread Jason Xing
I tested different kernels and two filesystem (xfs and ext4). It turns
out that we cannot read less than value_size (which is 81 in ecryptfs)
buffer when doing ecryptfs_read_and_validate_xattr_region(). In
ecryptfs_read_and_validate_xattr_region() function, "file_size" array is
the buffer we're going to read from xatte region and write. The
reasonable solution is read 4096 instead of 16 from xattr region.

Any thoughts?

[Bug 1612492] Re: remounting breaks size reporting and rsync

2017-06-09 Thread Jason Xing
Also verified in 3.3.8

I compile the kernel (3.3.8) on Ubuntu 14.04 and Centos 7-1511.

After I mount ecryptfs with ecryptfs_xattr option, it will terminate if
I copy some file in it. First time I copy files, it will be killed. Next
time I copy files, it will hang and do nothing.

Test outputs:
$ sudo mount -t ecryptfs secure raw -o ecryptfs_xattr
[...]
$ cp file.out2 raw
Killed

I test 3.3.8 kernel on different machines including VM-ware, the outputs
are all the same!

[Bug 1001933] Re: ecryptfs-recover-private reports success even when MOUNT passphrase is wrong

2017-03-30 Thread Jason Xing
My apologize. It works successfully when I enter the wrong mount passphrase.
However, it doesn't need to be fixed really. When we mount eCryptfs, we also
could enter different passphrases and decrypt certain files. It's the design of
eCryptfs, I think.

One thing we're supposed to do is to display the information(warning)
like "Mount successfully. But maybe the mount passphrase is not the
right key to decrypt your private data. Please check the directory
mounted carefully".

What do you guys say about this? Any information/suggestions are
welcome!
