resolves the problem.

[Bug 989477] Re: Unity launcher does not re-appear when autohide switched on

2012-04-29 Thread JasonSpradlin82
I have a similar issue with autohiding the launcher... When the
launcher autohides, I can frequently go to the left and have it appear
right away, but sometimes, I have to try 3 or 4 times quickly in
succession for it to work. I know it's not an issue with not waiting
long enough, because for the times that it doesn't work, I see the
shadow of the launcher appear suddenly, then fade back out. This can
happen, as I mentioned, up to 4 times before it will actually expand the
menu (instead of just briefly displaying the drop shadow).

Having sensitivity set to default or High doesn't seem to change that.
It appears, though, that on high, it might only show up consistently if
I go really fast, as if I'm trying to break the mouse through the left
side of the monitor and into the real world outside of confines of the
desktop.

[Bug 940535] [NEW] Remote Desktop Viewer with Full Screen option uses combined screen size of BOTH monitors, not the active monitor

2012-02-24 Thread JasonSpradlin82
Public bug reported:

When attempting to use Remote Desktop Viewer, if I do not click full
screen, the remote screen is limited to a very small portion of my
screen (something like 640x480). If I check the fullscreen button
under Connection options, however, then it uses the combined
resolution of both monitors, which causes me to have to do a LOT of
scrolling. In previous implementations (I used it a lot last year,
probably 11.04 or 10.11) it new to limit full screen mode to the
existing screen.

NOTE: When you hit the expand to full screen button, the WINDOW still
knows to only expand to the current monitor's dimensions. This bug is
only for connecting with Fullscreen checked, and for how it makes the
remote screen too large.

2009-03-26 Thread JasonSpradlin82
Built in hardware from a 4-year-old laptop should definitely be working by
now.

It's definitely going to be up to the community.

There are many questions on this, many work-arounds that may or may not
work for users in the forums, the Answers community and ubuntu-users
list, and this has been since 2005? I could barely believe it when I
found this bug when trying to help another user just get the S-Video/TV
Out to work. Now the i810 work around doesn't work because the driver
is no longer available, easily at least, from the repositories in 8.10.

And in any since it can be a dead-end because only limited users
reported success with using the i810 driver.

I really think this should have a priority higher than Wishlist.

Re: [Bug 6270] Re: [i855] no support for TV-Out on 8xx chipsets

2009-03-26 Thread JasonSpradlin82
@craig
I only meant to relay my frustration in having an older laptop with old
hardware that is not supported even by Intrepid. This bug has been open
forever, yet nothing has come of it thus far, other than further complaints.
One would figure that after so many complaints Intel would jump in to try
to fix this for their Linux users, regardless of the fact that Canonical
doesn't seem have anybody on it.

 @Jason

I'm sorry if I was unclear and you thought I was referencing just the
 810. I was referencing a possible solution for the 855 series that
 people are reporting problems with.

One case I am referring to (that is attached to this bug report) can be
 found here:
 https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+question/65430

The card I am referencing is an Intel 855 GM/E. Apparently this bug also
affects Intel 855s (GM/GME). Some users have attempted to roll-back
their drivers to the i810 drivers in an effort just to use their S-Video
 /TV-Out signal with no success.

 See:
 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=849994highlight=855gm+svideo
 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=849994highlight=855gm+svideo
He posted his conf file here: http://paste.ubuntuusers.de/389739/
Apparently, it worked for him. But it only works for select users. I
obviously do not know why, if I did we may have a solution.

 Sorry to be unclear.

Installing the ubuntu package for Restricted Formats
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats) seems to have
worked.

Can somebody identify what format was blocked, exactly? I will need to
report to our (Streaming Faith's) engineering team why Ubuntu users will
not be able to access some of our streams. It is our goal that ANYBODY
should be able to connect to ALL of our streams, so we will need to know
what is happening.

[Bug 256863] [NEW] Improper CSS rendering

2008-08-11 Thread JasonSpradlin82
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

For my work, we have spent a lot of time designing on of our daily
emails that goes out. When this email comes in to Evolution, it is not
rendered exactly correct. A screenshot is attached.

A few things that are incorrect:

* The table that contains the majority of the content is supposed to have a
1 pixel black border around it.
* The cell that contains the majority of the text should have a few pixels of
padding
* The 225x200 advertisement image should have a 1 pixel black border around it
as well as a few pixels of padding on its left side.

That is a complete list, from what I can see right now.

Let me state that Microsoft Outlook 2007 is the only other browser that
shows these mistakes because Microsoft, in their arrogance, decided that
THEY should decide how emails look. Although in MS Outlook 2007, the
background image behind the text also doesn't load (not allowed).

It is generally accepted in the world of web designing that Microsoft
has continued along the path of arrogance and stupidity when making
THEIR rules for Outlook '07 CSS rendering. That being the case, I am
hoping that Evolution's CSS rendering hasn't been fashioned after
Outlook 2007. In general, it should be more fashioned after Firefox.
Just because Evolution ISN'T a web browser, doesn't mean it shouldn't
render the way a web browser does. That's the point of HTML email.

The email looks correct in the majority of other email programs and
websites, such as Outlook 2003, Outlook Express, gmail, yahoomail,
hotmail, etc.

I have attached two screenshots:
  - Incorrect rendering in Evolution
  - Correct rendering in Yahoo mail

[Bug 256556] [NEW] frequently get msg: Lost connection to Evolution Exchange backend process

2008-08-10 Thread JasonSpradlin82
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I did see another bug similar to this, but it had more of the message
than mine does... file or folder not existing and I do not believe that
is what is causing my problem...

At any rate, I frequently receive error messages when using evolution for
exchange... If i close evolution and re-open it, the problem is usually fixed,
until the next time it happens... i usually don't notice it happens until i
notice that my folders haven't updated... I won't usually notice it hasn't
updated unless I know for sure there should be a new email listed, but
evolution isn't showing it to me (if i get an email on my blackberry, then I
know i've received a new email)... I then usually look down to see the error
message sitting in the status bar.

Sometimes, though, i'll notice the connection to the back end process
is down when switching to a folder I haven't viewed in evolution before
and it displays no emails (because evolution has never downloaded them
before) and i notice it is not working on downloading them, but
reporting the error to me.

Once the connection to the backend process is down, changing to any
folder either gives the error while refreshing folder because the
process is down, or the error while opening folder... because the
process is down (screen shots attached).

Again, closing and re-opening evolution always seems to fix this.

[Bug 256215] [NEW] when i tried to visit www.streamingfaith.com:8000 (without typing http://) firefox incorrectly assumed that www.streamingfaith.com was the protocol and 8000 was the address

2008-08-08 Thread JasonSpradlin82
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When i tried to visit www.streamingfaith.com:8000\admin to do some work,
Firefox assumed that (www.streamingfaith.com) was my intended protocol because
of the absence of http://; and presence of a colon that is SUPPOSED to signify
that the port is coming next. I see WHY the problem happened (and that it is
very simply fixed by adding http://) but I think firefox should be able to tell
the difference, since other browsers do.

[Bug 256219] [NEW] Copy Link Location adds %20 where spaces should be in JAVASCRIPT links (messes up the js function when pasting somewhere else)

2008-08-08 Thread JasonSpradlin82
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

on this page:
http://www.streamingfaith.com/directory/network.aspx?nsn=ABLFC

there is a link that reads Click here to view now!

The HREF is javascript:OpenPopup('/faithpass/index.aspx?nsn=ABLFC',
_sWindowName, _iWidth, _iHeight, _sScrollYesNo, _sResizableYesNo);

When you right click the text link, however, and select Copy Link
Location, Firefox (3.0+ only) converts the spaces between the JS
variables into %20. This is fine for standard HTTP:// links, but it
breaks the javascript link when I try to paste it elsewhere. It looks
like this:

javascript:OpenPopup('/faithpass/index.aspx?nsn=ABLFC',%20_sWindowName,%20_iWidth,%20_iHeight,%20_sScrollYesNo,%20_sResizableYesNo);

Every time I copy a link this way, i have to paste it into a text editor
and then replace all %20 with a space. Then i have to recopy that if
I want to paste the link somewhere else.

This did NOT happen in Firefox 2.x browsers. This is something I use
DAILY at work (I work for Streaming Faith) and it really makes things
difficult, because when (not if) I forget to remove the %20s, the
javascript function doesn't run.

[Bug 253603] Re: WWW.southern-electric.co.uk

2008-08-08 Thread JasonSpradlin82
This is obviously a problem with the Parameter wmode having a Value of
transparent. This parameter is designed to allow HTML with a higher
z-index than an SWF module to overlap the SWF (z-index actually might
not apply at all... it might be that ALL html will overlap the SWF).

Another example can be seen at www.streamingfaith.com/gospel. We coded
the SWF video player with WMODE=Transparent so that the dropdown menus
at the top of the page wouldn't be cut off by the Vidego flash video
player. It works fine in all windows browsers. However, in firefox 3
for linux with Adobe flash player, the wmode=transparent doesn't seem to
work at all.

This bug should probably be entitled, flash parameter wmode=transparent
is ineffectual in FF3 for linux

Same problem occurs here:

http://www.communitymx.com/content/source/E5141/wmodetrans.htm

This page was specifically designed to demonstrate how
WMODE=Transparent works.

When you mouseover the words DHTML Trigger a text box pops up that is
supposed to OVERLAP the flash player. instead, as with the other pages
listed in this thread, the flash player overlaps the DHTML content

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu
better. However, the URL you posted is not valid, as it contains a
backslash ('\') where a forward-slash character should be ('/'). If you
replace this character with the correct one (so the URL is
www.streamingfaith.com:8000/admin), then it behaves correctly without
having to explicitly specify the protocol.

 Thanks

Re: [Bug 256219] Re: Copy Link Location adds %20 where spaces should be in JAVASCRIPT links (messes up the js function when pasting somewhere else)

2008-08-08 Thread JasonSpradlin82
Kind of, but no.

That bug references a direct copy (using ctrl-c or copy on the context
menu) of text located in the address bar... In that case, the code that
moves the selected text to the clipboard and accidentally translates
the %20 into a space.

In THIS bug, it only occurs when RIGHT CLICKING a link and selecting
copy link location. This time, it does do the opposite, but it makes
sense to have it do this for the following reasons:

if I coded a page with a href=www.google.com/fun times (made up
link) then the browser needs to know to use URL encoding because the
REAL address WILL actually be ...fun%20times

However, when using a href=javascript:whatever(something, something
else) we are not referencing a URL at all... We are calling a
javascript command defined somewhere on the page or in an included
file. Firefox should NEVER presume to URL encode a link containing a
javascript command, because URL encoding should only apply to URLs.

[Bug 256219] Re: Copy Link Location adds %20 where spaces should be in JAVASCRIPT links (messes up the js function when pasting somewhere else)

2008-08-08 Thread JasonSpradlin82
I can see that the change in FF3 was made as a FEATURE... so that right
clicking a link that contains a URL with a space would be properly
encoding when pasting the link elsewhere (like the fun%20times
example).

However, I don't the developer who coded this feature considered how it
would affect other HREF values such as javascript commands.
