[Bug 1481899] [NEW] USB external Sound card Spdif out not working

2015-08-05 Thread Jean-Sébastien Frerot
Public bug reported:

When connecting my Soundbox Pro External USB Sound Card, 24 bit 192 KHz
Audio, 7.1 Channels I'm able to make the analog ports working, but the
SPDIF port aren't. Even if I select Digital Output (S/PDIF) - USB2.0
High-Speed True HD Audio as the ouput device in the sound control
panel, there is no sound at all. No lights come out the optical port.

After having a long discussion in alsa irc channel we were able to use the
optical port quite easily with this command:
pasuspender -- speaker-test -c2 -twav -Dhw:Audio,1

we've been able to have pulse audio use the optical port by running these 2
commands:
pactl load-module module-alsa-sink device=hw:Audio,1
pactl set-sink-formats 0 pcm; ac3-iec61937; dts-iec61937; eac3-iec61937

however this adds the spdif port as a device in itself in pulse audio.
It is working but this prevents me from using the input of another
device (let's say micorphone in game). And some time when running those
commands, my whole compute freezes and I have to reset my computer.

This device should automatically get detected and when selecting
Digital Output (S/PDIF) - USB2.0 High-Speed True HD Audio it should
send audio through the spdif port on the card.

I'm including the irc chat log for information purposes.

[Bug 1337492] [NEW] pcre support missing for snmpd

2014-07-03 Thread Jean-Sébastien Frerot
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I'd like to monitor my running processes on my server with snmp. Snmp offers
this feature but when you have process running like: perl /usr/sbin/mysql-snmp
--daemon-pid /var/run/mysql-snmp.pid -c /etc/mysql-snmp/my.cnf the process
name detected by snmp is perl... They have pcre support to be able to add
patterns to better detect process name

proc mysql-snmp 1 1 ^perl /usr/sbin/mysql-snmp
instead of proc mysql-snmp 1 1

The current package is not compiled with pcre support. Could this be
added/updated ?

looks like you would need to add pcre-devel as package dependency.

Thank you.

[Bug 1301942] [NEW] screen display not saved after reboot

2014-04-03 Thread Jean-Sébastien Frerot
Public bug reported:

I have a DELL E6430 laptop with docking station. I can successfully
setup a 3 monitor extended desktop (1 built-in laptop monitor + 2
external monitor with DVI) using Screen Display control panel in
Ubuntu trusty. When I reboot the 3 monitors are activated but not in the
right order. They are mixed up. I have to change the settings again to
make it right but it's never *saved* as I have to do that at every boot.
