[Bug 686848] [NEW] xserver unresponsive after suspend to ram

2010-12-07 Thread Jean Levasseur
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

* It happened only once since a fresh install of Maverick last week. (I suspend
all the time).
* I was stucked at the lock screen after resume
* The mouse pointer was moving, and changing shape when hovering over the
password input field (password field), but the remaining of the screen was
blank (I could not see the password input field).
* Trying to type the password blindlessly did nothing
* The disks I/O seemed idle, according to leds on the laptop
* When switching to a console (ctrl-alt-f1), a warning message appeared about
drm and i915, but I haven't noted it, sorry. The message was appearing
repetidly about once each second, covering the input field in the console.
* The laptop is a Dell Vostro 3400 equipped with the core i3-350M, and using
the intel GPU included in the processor.
* The installation is Maverick x86_64

I hope everything is there!

[Bug 453729] Re: f-spot.exe crashed in Print Preview

2010-06-15 Thread Jean Levasseur
Hello there, I'm unable to reproduce that bug with color profiles
enabled in Ubuntu Lucid with F-Spot 0.6.1.5 . I know some work have
been done to the color management of F-Spot, that might have fixed this
issue. Can you try again with an updated version of F-Spot an see of it
is still an issue for you? Thank you!

[Bug 429536] Re: Layout of the buttons is awkward

2010-06-15 Thread Jean Levasseur
I've not been able to reproduce the bug with latest f-spot (0.6.1.5) in
Ubuntu Lucid. Can you try again with an updated version of f-spot and
report here if it is still an issue? I know there have been some work
in f-spot for a similar (albeit different) issue, which might have fixed
that bug.

Thanks!

[Bug 223400] Re: When right-clicking on a Raw image, I cannot open it in the Gimp

2010-02-04 Thread Jean Levasseur
I cannot reproduce the bug anymore on Karmic, as long as I have "gimp-
ufraw" package installed. Perhaps, this bug shall fall into the "fix
release" category?

[Bug 475811] Re: crashes when a filename uses ":"

2009-11-26 Thread Jean Levasseur
Well, I can confirm this issue. I'm using f-spot for years (with some
files containing colons in their name) and recently (after update) only
that made the application crash. I can provide you with a little python
script I wrote to rename files and database entries, but that would not
solve the real problem, though...

I can confirm that after renaming, f-spot works like a charm again!

[Bug 459423] Re: Unable to play video from "Youtube plugin" results

2009-11-13 Thread Jean Levasseur
Saïvann Carignan: Totem is crashing with segfault whenever I double-
click on a Youtube result. As well, Trying to open an .ISO (movie) file
makes totem crash with segfault as well. As said previously, I don't
have access to debugging symbols so having a useful traceback is not
quite possible, but for me the -proposed version does not work at all at
the moment.

[Bug 459423] Re: Unable to play video from "Youtube plugin" results

2009-11-11 Thread Jean Levasseur
There seems not to have any -dbg version of totem in -proposed, so this
might not be as useful as it could be, but upon trying to play a video
fetched from youtube (searching is going well, the result's pane is
fulled), I get a segfault. Anyone is experiencing this as well?

And, for any king of reason, I cannot attach any text file to this
comment...

Package: totem
Architecture: amd64
Version: 2.28.2-0ubuntu3
lsb-release: karmic

Thanks!

[Bug 339091] Re: [i945] screen freezes a few minutes after resuming

2009-03-25 Thread Jean Levasseur
My 2 cents: it happened to me a lot of times (almost every time) in
intrepid with -proposed repository activated (and system full up-to-
date). I had to re-install but now I did without activating -proposed,
and while this is still happening, it does a lot less often now.

I just want to make sure, though, that we have the same problem: my
system seems to freeze with a black screen, I don't even have the option
to type in my passwd. It doesn't seem to recieve any keyboard input as
I blindly switched to a console, typed in my username and password
(correctly, I did it very slowly) and then issuing a sudo reboot now
command, nothing happened, I had to hard reboot the laptop.

I am using a dell inspiron 1545 with intel X4500HD video accelerator
with a pentium dual core.

Hope it helps.

Re: [Bug 325221] [NEW] Please UN-backport Brasero 0.9.1 since it's breaking non-English systems

2009-03-14 Thread Jean Levasseur
I'm curious about which language system it brakes. I'm using a french
system and Nautilus appears to be in french in every corner. I've tried
to delete an item to get that dialog refered in the IRC log, and the
message appears to be in french as well, so it might not change language
for every non-english system. Furhter investigation must be done,
though.

[Bug 117583] Re: ipod: album art not added unless the file is playing

2008-09-08 Thread Jean Levasseur
I can confirm the bug using rhythmbox 0.11.6svn20080903-0ubuntu2
(intrepid source compiled under hardy). The behavior is exactly the
same as rhythmbox 0.11.5 available in standard hardy. While I haven't
looked at the patch referred by Christian Apolloni, I found my way out
for the moment: when all the songs are transferred to the ipod, just
play a song from each album on the ipod (that can be done by double-
clicking on the name of the album via the library browser in rhythbmox)
and wait for the album art to appear. It will then be tranfered to the
ipod.

[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again

2008-02-19 Thread Jean Levasseur
@ Sebastien Basher:
Thank you very much Sebastien. I was about to post my PPA's link, in which
I've put your patched version of Nautilus to make it available for wide
testing, for I'm using it since the beggining of December without an issue on
my Gutsy machine, but I guess I wont have to do that. Anyway, if you think is
a good idea to do so, please advise me.

[Bug 127315] Re: F-Spot puts photos in Photos folder not Pictures folder

2008-02-14 Thread Jean Levasseur
You can fire up f-spot with -b and -p switches, assigning them some other paths
to place photos. For example:
$ f-spot -b /media/multimedia/Photos -p /media/multimedia/Photos

will put photos to /media/multimedia/Photos and use it as a base
directory, outside of the ~ directory.

[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again

2007-10-21 Thread Jean Levasseur
I'm having hte exact same behaviour. I'm using Ubuntu Gutsy, upgraded
from gutsy-rc. I have installed Sabayon. I also disabled some services
from the session-management menu (blue-tooth, at-visual) since I don't
need them. Desktop effects are activated, but I get the same behaviour
if they are disabled, so those are not the problem.

The process that causes the 100% CPU is Nautilus.

Steps to reproduce:
- Log out.
- Re-log in. At this time, the session loading is quite long. The panels are
appearing after a while and are usable, but the desktop stays empty.
Right-clicking on it does nothing.
- Trying to log out, the panels will freeze, and the "logout window" will
appear after 1-2 minutes (long.)

To work around this: in a terminal "killall -HUP nautilus && nautilus &"

[Bug 112518] Re: Switch User freezes at blank screen

2007-09-25 Thread Jean Levasseur
Hi Mke E. I noticed after trying Kubuntu that when one switches user,
it opens another "VT" with another X server to that other user. For
example, lets say user "Joe" is logged-in usuallyand has locked the
screen. Then user "Sarah" arrives and activates the "Switch User"
button, then KDM appears as expected. She loges-in to work, and now Joe
arrives to continue his work. She lockes the screen, and then Joe just
has to push control-alt-F7 to access his locked session, while leaving
Sarah's session intact and accessible via control-alt-F9.

In other words, is that possible that this situation is making a
confusion here? You do not have Compiz neither Metacity activated,
well, do you have Beryl?

I've extensively played with those "Switch user" options, and the only
time it really lock-up the computer, leaving it in an unusable state is
when "desktop effects" (either by Beryl or Compiz) are activated while
switching users.

[Bug 112518] Re: Switch User freezes at blank screen

2007-07-06 Thread Jean Levasseur
It happens to me as well, but only when using Beryl. I have not tried
compiz (3D desktop) so I cannot compare, but at least it happens when
using Beryl. Are you using compositing engine (Desktop Cube for
example)? If so, try to reproduce while disabeling it.

My machine specs are:
-Celeron 1.7GHz
-768Mb RAM
-Nvidia GeForce 6200 128Mb RAM

I don't know if higher specs would solve the problem.

[Bug 115256] f-spot crashes when exporting pictures to directory

Public bug reported:

Insufficient memory (case 4)

The several WARING lines don't seem to make any problem as there is
plenty others like those ones but still.

The last line seems to be the error that causes the crash.

To reproduce, I was exporting 208 pictures of about 2 Mb each. I have
tried 4 times, every times it crashes reaching about 191 to 193
pictures.
