[Bug 1866194] Re: External audio device shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker, or none at all.
This bug is affecting me as well, I have a USB pre-amp (which also works as audio card) and sounds emits just fine there. However, when I plug in my headphones directly into my laptop, only sometimes I get the gnome popup asking me what kind of device I plugged in. When I click "headphones", sound of all applications is properly directed towards my headphones. However, the gnome-settings sound "test" button will still emit audio over my regular speakers. Selecting different audio cards does not resolve anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866194 Title: External audio device shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker, or none at all. [Bug 1867431] Re: ERROR got an error from dpkg for pkg: 'libc6'
Thanks for the addition Kai. I tested this on an unencrypted VM, but using `rw` in GRUB may not be the best option to begin with anyway, seeing as in my guide I remount / as `rw` anyway. `ro` might have been better indeed. With regards to /etc/resolv.conf, keep in mind that this is usually a symlink to systemd-resolved, located in /run - booting to single-user mode through GRUB means systemd-resolved isn't running and most likely can't be started. It might be best to first remove /etc/resolv.conf (the dead symlink), and then create a new /etc/resolv.conf file with a nameserver in it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1867431 Title: ERROR got an error from dpkg for pkg: 'libc6' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1867431/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1866844] Re: package libc6:amd64 2.31-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: installed libc6:amd64 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127
I have resolved the issue by doing the following: 1) From grub, change the linux line; remove 'quiet' and 'splash', and change 'ro' to 'rw init=/bin/bash' (see below if you need more information) This will allow you to boot into your system sort of"recovery mode". 2) When booted, run: mount -o remount,rw / 3) Copy a "bogus" library over the library that the upgrade is expecting: cp /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypt.so /lib/x86_64-linux- gnu/libcrypt.so.1 4) run: apt --fix-broken install 5) Resume the original upgrade: apt full-upgrade 6) reboot (this might require forcefully rebooting using your power or reset button) Information regarding the grub bit: It may take a few tries to get into grub. You need to press ESC at the right time during the boot process (just after your bios/efi post has shown), or forcefully rebooting during startup will most likely bring you there as well Select the "ubuntu" line, and hit the 'e' key on your keyboard. Go to the line that looks like: linux /boot/vmlinuz-5.4.0-14-generic root=UUID= ro quiet splash $vt_handoff Change it into: linux /boot/vmlinuz-5.4.0-14-generic root=UUID= rw init=/bin/bash $vt_handoff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866844 Title: package libc6:amd64 2.31-0ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: installed libc6:amd64 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 127 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1866844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1717352] [NEW] Locale settings broken after debootstrap installation

[Bug 1717272] [NEW] HiDPI settings reset on logout
Public bug reported: When logging in to my XPS 13 (9360) on 17.10, the only thing that is reasonably (200%) scaled is the sidebar. Top bar, windows, and fonts are all unscaled and TINY. - I'll go to Control Centre, Devices, Displays, and see that scaling is set to 200%. - I'll then change the scaling to 100%, and hit apply and confirm. At this point, windows are scaled to 200%. - I need to change the scaling to 100% AGAIN. Now everything is 100%, and therefore tiny - I then change the scaling to 200%, hit apply and confirm, which does barely anything - I then need to set scaling to 200% AGAIN, hit apply and confirm, and only *then* everything is properly scaled. This bug occurred in VirtualBox 4, and I do no longer have this Virtual Machine. Though, I reckon that I must be able to replicate this bug by creating a new virtual machine with the same settings. After that I will also be able to tell if the bug is actually still there or has already been taken away by updated packages.
