[Bug 736326] [NEW] typo in repetition subwindows

2011-03-16 Thread Jens Kubieziel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: txt2regex

There is a small typo in german localisation. Steps to reproduce:
1. Type 'LC_ALL=de_DE.utf8 txt2regex'
2. Enter '11' (there are several other ways to achieve this)
3. Now you read: '4) einmmal oder mehrmals' (The word 'einmal' has only one
'm' in it.)

[Bug 688352] [NEW] emacs crashes when closing gdm

2010-12-09 Thread Jens Kubieziel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: emacs-snapshot

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS with emacs-snapshot 1:20090909-1. Other
packages which are involved are GNU screen 4.0.3-14ubuntu1.2 and dbus
1.2.16-2ubuntu4.

Steps to reproduce:
1.) I assume that I'm already logged in to GNOME.
2.) Open a terminal (gnome-terminal 2.30.2-0ubuntu1, in my case)
3.) Open GNU screen ('screen -c /dev/null' or with any .screenrc)
4.) Open GNU Emacs inside GNU screen.
5.) Detach screen session (Ctrl-a+DD)
6.) Log out from GNOME.

Now GNU Emacs generates a high load, uses lots of CPU and even more RAM
(usually complete RAM plus same amount of swap space).

I made a strace and the following sequence seems to be the problem:
connect(5, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path=@/tmp/dbus-qIVcDA4mSE}, 23) = -1
ECONNREFUSED (Connection refused)
close(5)= 0
ioctl(3, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost isig -icanon -echo ...}) =
 0
ioctl(3, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost isig -icanon -echo ...}) =
 0
ioctl(3, SNDCTL_TMR_STOP or TCSETSW, {B38400 opost isig -icanon -echo ...}) = 0
ioctl(3, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost isig -icanon -echo ...})
= 0
ioctl(3, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost isig -icanon -echo ...})
= 0
write(3, \7, 1) = 1
poll([{fd=8, events=POLLIN}], 1, 0) = 0 (Timeout)
socket(PF_FILE, SOCK_STREAM, 0) = 5

This repeats until I SIGKILLed emacs.

The current version of Eclipse crashes on several occasions. Now I found
one way to reproduce it:

this case I found no way to reproduce it yet.

[Bug 647771] Re: Eclipse crashes when calling Help - Welcome

2010-09-25 Thread Jens Kubieziel
I dug a bit deeper. I had an old XULRunner version (1.9 and 1.9.1)
installed after removing them, the Eclipse crashes disappeared. So I
consider this resolved.

[Bug 616501] Re: Kernel 2.6.32-20 doesn ’t boot, /dev/disk/by-uuid/... not found

2010-08-13 Thread Jens Kubieziel
My next try were Mainline-Builds. I download them from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and tried so far:
- v2.6.24
- v2.6.25
- v2.6.30
- v2.6.31
- v2.6.32.18-lucid
- v2.6.35-rc1-lucid

All versions had the same error message and behavior as described in my
original bug report. Additionally v2.6.24 and v2.6.25 showed:

udevadm[998]: error sending message: Connection refused ..

[Bug 616501] Re: Kernel 2.6.32-20 doesn ’t boot, /dev/disk/by-uuid/... not found

2010-08-13 Thread Jens Kubieziel
I found the cause of the problem. The 'root=' entry in grub seems to
cause the problems. If I change it to

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32... root=/dev/sda1 ...

the system boots without any problems. The error message from my
original report disappears. I can boot any kernel (10.04, mainline,
vanilla kernel from Linus' git). Changing the root entry to '..
root=UUID=...' leads to problems in all 10.04 kernels past minor version
-20.

[Bug 616501] [NEW] Kernel 2.6.32-20 does n’t boot, /dev/disk/by-uuid/... not found

2010-08-11 Thread Jens Kubieziel
Public bug reported:

I'm using a Compaq nc4200 with
The systems boots all kernel versions up to 2.6.32-20 without any problems.
Starting with -21 the laptop didn't boot anymore. From my perspective there is
a problem mounting the root file system. Besides the normal kernel output I get

Begin: Running /scripts/init-premount ... done.
Begin: Mounting root file system ... Begin: Running /scripts/local-top ... done.
[some lines of ethX related kernel output]
Begin: Waiting for root file system ...

After some time the boot process drops to some BusyBox shell:

(initramfs) Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
[some hintsregarding root delay and missing modules]
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/(UUID-of-my-sda1) does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

What can I do to resolve the issue? What more information is needed?

[Bug 411941] Re: f-spot.exe crashes when using new wave theme

2010-08-09 Thread Jens Kubieziel
Today I installed f-spot 0.7.1 (PPA) and encounter the same problem. I'm
using basically the Ambience theme with some customisations. When I
started f-spot it didn't show me the images which I previously imported.
I only saw some red-crossed circles.

When I chose Import and my camera model, f-spot started to
connect/download and crashed. Console output was:

[Bug 125317] Re: html-helper-mode has a reserved keybinding

2010-06-10 Thread Jens Kubieziel
This bug is still an issue, because it is a general convention for key binding
in GNU/Emacs. See
URL:http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/elisp/html_node/Key-Binding-Conventions.html
 for details:
Don't define C-c letter as a key in Lisp programs. Sequences consisting of C-c
and a letter (either upper or lower case) are reserved for users; they are the
only sequences reserved for users, so do not block them.

[Bug 125317] Re: html-helper-mode has a reserved keybinding

2010-06-10 Thread Jens Kubieziel
Maybe it is a good idea to change all key bindings for character
entities to C-cC-c. This key binding is similar the old C-c, so users
won't have to change much in their habits. Please check the attached
patch.

[Bug 432689] [NEW] Typo in choose keyboard layout interface

2009-09-18 Thread Jens Kubieziel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

There is a typo in the user interface. Reproduce it:
Select (german settings) System - Einstellungen - Tastatur - Tab
Belegungen - Klick on Hinzufügen ... - Land Deutschland. The listing at
Varianten writes Deutschland Akzentatsen deaktivieren. The correct version
is Akzenttasten (transpose two letters).
