Re: [Bug 1161599] Re: Backup to Ubuntu one failed, after 5 attempts status 400 bad request
Try using Back In Time instead of Deja Dup. It works perfectly. Giving up on request after 5 attempts last status 400 bad request. The progress bar does not get started as far as I can see. While it is saying that it is uploading I can see in System Monitor that data is being continuously sent, but after the failure there are no new files on U1. By a process of elimination I determined that it is the objects directory (which itself contains a large number of subdirectories each containing a number of small files) that is causing the problem. I attempted to determine whether it was a particular file or folder that was causing the problem but it seems not to be consistent. I thought that I had found a particular subfolder causing the problem, I cleared .cache/deja_dup, and then it accepted that folder. However when I then put back the rest of the subfolders it failed again. I copied the complete git repository to another machine (running up to date Ubuntu 12.04) and backing up from there (to a different U1 account) deja_dup has no problems. I also notice that on Raring it always takes a long time in the verification phase even when only a trivial change has been made. It is as if it is downloading the whole repository, but whether that is a related problem I do not know. Prior to that day's update, all was fine. What I did which fixes the problem UNTIL Ubuntu is restarted, at which time it returns to this problem, is to open System Settings Appearance Look Background, and since I am using a Custom desktop background, I am presented with the option to choose a color. The problem seems to be fixed for that session only if I click the color selector below the 'Background' display which shows a representation of a monitor with the background I'm currently using, and then selecting a different color. I notice the top Unity panel and the launcher both change to the new color, then I can select the color I want to use and it will then change to that, and all's well until I restart my machine. This part may or may not be part of the same issue, so I'll include it here not as a separate bug, but as what may be further indication of the main bug: The HPLIP icon which runs in the top panel, until an update about a week ago, would appear, and then hide, shortly after startup - less than a minute, normally. (God, I love how fast Unity and Ubuntu are now. You guys are incredible!!) I can make it hide by simply clicking the icon, and since I already have 'Hide when inactive' selected, clicking OK, and in a few seconds the top panel icon hides. Again, as above, it remains hidden for that particular session, but will reappear upon restart. I will attach a screenshot to show you what the launcher looks like washed out, although I'm sure you already know what I mean. Thank you all for everything you do for us! The washed-out error was corrected, as I show in the attached screenshot including the dash. Notice, as I indicated when I first submitted the bug, that the HPLIP icon is still shown in the upper panel, although I have 'Hide when inactive' selected. I don't know if that was part of this fix or not, but there it is. I'm assuming that it's safe to reset the size of my launcher to 32 pixels, so I'm going to do that. ** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2012-06-22 17:52:15.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1015553/+attachment/3201042/+files/Screenshot%20from%202012-06-22%2017%3A52%3A15.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1015553 Title: launcher and dash appear washed out, too light to read To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1015553/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 373690] Re: Synaptic touchpad very slow after suspend/resume
I'm not completely certain that my problem is exactly the same, but I can find nothing else that better describes my problem. Here's what's going on: When I click objects once, nothing happens. I usually end up clicking everything twice or more, and it's the more that turns into a problem as it usually takes me somewhere I'd rather not be. I read above where it happens to the one user after suspend. I'll have to check to see if that's the case with me, too, but initially I think not. Also, I thought at first that this was a Google Chrome issue, but it happens as often not in the browser as in it. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04, Unity 3D, anything else needed, let me know. [Bug 937179] Re: horizontal scroll not working
Same with me, I have enabled horizontal scrolling, checked, double checked and triple checked that it's still enabled; it is. It works fine until I put the machine to sleep and then wake it. At that point, vertical scrolling works perfectly, but horizontal scrolling doesn't, even if I move the cursor to the scroll bar. But it will scroll by holding down the left button and dragging the scroll bar to the right or left. The weirdest thing though is that it doesn't do it every time it's woken. Usually, yes, but not always. It's done this since at least 11.04, and if I recall correctly it did it as far back as 10.04 through 10.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/937179 Title: horizontal scroll not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/937179/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 780497] Re: Laptop won't suspend when closed
At some point in the, likely, far distant future, I may have time to do that. In the short run, it would be MORE convenient for the great many of us who beta test this system to have one comprehensive and simple bug reporting system. It's highly likely that if you did you would get timely, complete, and accurate reporting. While I do realize that those who work to build Ubuntu are volunteers, you must remember that those of us who test it are, too. And unlike you, many of us have only cursory experience with these matters. To that end, it would seem that a team might consider my aforementioned proposal. Thank you for your time.
