I got this message on boot-up and it says i should include the following into
this report:
E:can not open
/var/lib/apt/lists/de.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_focal-backports_InRelease
- fopen (13: Keine Berechtigung), E:Die Paketliste oder die Statusdatei konnte
nicht eingelesen oder geöffnet werden.

"Keine Berechtigung" = Access denied
"Die Paketliste oder die Statusdatei konnte nicht eingelesen oder geöffnet
werden." = The packagelist or statusfile could not be read or opened.

I am using this ubuntu version: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
I did not want to perform a distribution upgrade

As to 3) and 4)
i did not expect anything, as i just started the computer and got the error
described above.

[Bug 1895643] Re: Backport Thunderbird 78 to 20.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS

2020-11-27 Thread Jimmy K
Thanks Olivier. The guide refers to archive.ubuntu.com which does not
have focal-proposed. I changed the mirror to archive.canonical.com.
Works great, no issues with the install. No problems with the transition
from 68.

[Bug 1890988] [NEW] Intel Ethernet Controller X7l0-AT2 can not be identified all ports in Ubuntu 20.04 (inbox driver i40e)

2020-08-10 Thread Jimmy Yu
Public bug reported:

[Ubuntu Version]

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

[Package Version]

http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages
release v=20.04,o=Ubuntu,a=focal,n=focal,l=Ubuntu,c=main,b=amd64

http://ppa.launchpad.net/hardware-certification/public/ubuntu focal/main amd64
Packages
release v=20.04,o=LP-PPA-hardware-certification-public,a=focal,n=focal,l=Public
PPA for Hardware Certification,c=main,b=amd64

[Expect Result]

Intel Ethernet Controller X710-AT2 all ports can be identified under
Ubuntu 20.04 via inbox driver i40e and workable normally.

[Symptom]

The Intel Ethernet Controller X710-AT2 has [Dual 10GBase-T and Dual 10G SFP+
LAN ports] but in Ubuntu 20.04 that cannot be identified all ports.
I want to execute hardware-certification and the system only can identify dual
10G SFP+ LAN ports via inbox driver i40e.

Please help clarify this issue or provide me solution
Thank you.

[Bug 1640514] Re: /snap/bin is not added to the PATH when using zsh

2020-01-28 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
It is strange. My XDG_DATA_DIRS has the value:

/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop

, and I have never had issues with that.
Only the part added to PATH has bothered me.
Actually I have no idea where is gets this value from.

[Bug 1640514] Re: /snap/bin is not added to the PATH when using zsh

2020-01-24 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
The problem was not fixed with the above, as I discovered that of course
it only fixes my terminal. Other applications (e.g. PyCharm) could not
see the executables from snaps.

Creating ~/.pam_environment with the following content did the trick:

PATH DEFAULT=${PATH}:/snap/bin

2020-01-23 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I jumped the gun a bit. What I ment was to write that sourcing
/etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh fixes commands being available again. I
have the following in my .zshrc:

if [ "$XDG_SESSION_TYPE" = "wayland" ] ; then

...other wayland fixes...

# Fix environment for Wayland + zsh + snapd
if [ -f "/etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh" ] ; then
source /etc/profile.d/apps-bin-path.sh

[Bug 1745999] Re: Okular snap package cannot access files outside home directory

2019-04-15 Thread Jimmy
This bug report seems to correctly diagnose the issue, which is of
course a major problem for a file "viewer"-type application.

As a filthy workaround, I found I could snap refresh with the --devmode
switch explained here: . Of course, that page also explains "End users should not
normally install snaps in devmode as this undoes any protections set out
with confinement and interfaces."

[Bug 1813663] Re: External monitors does not work anymore 4.15.0-44

2019-02-01 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I just got the 4.15.0-45 kernel through normal updates.

Am I the only one who sees it as problematic that when updating to
4.15.0-45, it marks both 4.15.0-43 and 4.15.0-44 for auto removal?

Of course 44 should go, because it's problematic, but what if someone
ends up without a prior kernel to boot in case of trouble with 45?

[Bug 1813917] [NEW] Unable to use docking station on linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic

2019-01-30 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Public bug reported:

I have a Lenovo T580 for work.
It has a Intel® Core™ i7-8550U CPU, and runs integrated graphics.

When booting linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic kernel, and the machine is docked in
the docking station, I can get as far as login. But after entering my password
something goes wrong, and screen output is lost completely.
Also, logging on it through SSH and shutting it down, you can wait for ages, I
have yet to see it actually turn off.

Booting linux-image-4.15.0-43-generic there are no issues.

I have a colleague who has a similar machine, but with nVidia graphics
card and Pop!_OS booting in legacy mode. He does not have this issue
with linux-image-4.15.0-44-generic.

[Bug 1786910] Re: Latest patch breaks command line 'restart all'

2018-08-31 Thread Jimmy Thrasher
I have successfully pinned all my relevant systems to the working version of
monit. Now I have a dilemma:
- Do I want to have a secure system, or
- Do I want to be able to use monit (thereby allowing me to deploy code, etc)

I don't know how exposed I am now. If I'm not exposed much, then it's
not high severity for me. Does anybody have a sense of how risky it is
to be running this older version of monit?

@pschiffe Excellent suggestion thanks. I'll do that.

I will say, though, that now I have potential human error in the process
of remembering to un-hold it when a fix for this package comes out. I
can live with it, though.

[Bug 1786910] Re: Latest patch breaks command line 'restart all'

2018-08-17 Thread Jimmy Thrasher
I'm seeing this issue as well. I believe the severity to be medium to
high for the following reason:

- I have automatic security updates turned on, and I want to keep it that way
- I don't know of a way to pin the version of monit
- every morning my system upgrades monit to the bad version and I have to
manually downgrade on multiple systems (Ansible makes it less painful, but
human error is still a factor)

Idk if I did has something to do with the bug itself. I noticed this bug
happened just after when I added PPA as seen from

and ran "sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade" commands. Once it was
removed,no error was shown anymore.

[Bug 1756208] [NEW] simplescan doesn't work in Ubuntu 17.10

2018-03-15 Thread Jimmy Montague
Public bug reported:

I use Ubuntu 17.10
Simplescan operates my old HP G3110 scanner perfectly. What it doesn NOT do is
permit me to crop the scans. If I can't crop the scans, the software is
worthless. How do I crop scans in Simplescan these days? I've looked everywhere
on the simplescan interface but cannot find a "crop" option. Your software
worked perfectly fine in Ubuntu 14x and 16x, but it ain't worth a hoot in 17x
without I can't trim my scans.

Somebody help me, please!

dies. Therefore I think my issue might be related to that my monitor has

what I think since my 7z compressions I started before turning off the

[Bug 1722353] Re: Screen blanking and/or screen lock crashes gnome-shell user session on wayland - Ubuntu 17.10 beta

2017-10-28 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Bummer. It just did it again after automatically shutting the screen
off.

[Bug 1722353] Re: Screen blanking and/or screen lock crashes gnome-shell user session on wayland - Ubuntu 17.10 beta

2017-10-28 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
I had the same issue in an Intel integrated graphics card (Core
i3-2120T). My whole session would just die.

My system is in Danish, so I am unsure if it is the power saving option
mentioned by @emanuel-pirsch I have disabled, but I went to the power
settings and disabled the second option that translated says something
like "Dim monitor on inactivity". This makes no sense enabling on my
computer since it is a desktop system with an external monitor.

The result is that it seems to have helped.

It makes me wonder if there is some sort of hardware detection that has
a bug?

[Bug 1724557] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in meta_logical_monitor_get_scale()

2017-10-21 Thread Jimmy Utterström
I am by the way using the same versions of libmutter and gnome-shell as
pullasuti.

[Bug 1724557] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in meta_logical_monitor_get_scale()

2017-10-21 Thread Jimmy Utterström
I'm experiencing the same issue every time I switch the screen off/on or
when the screen has timed out and gone blank and I try to wake it up
again. Gnome-shell crashes Attaching my crash file. The only solution
to make my 17.10 experience manageable so far is to never turn off the
screen or let it go blank.

[Bug 1720376] Re: Grub could not install in automated install

2017-10-11 Thread Jimmy Merrild Krag
Well, I didn't choose to install it there. As the headline says: It was
an automated install. I.E.: I did not change a thing in the installer.
