[Bug 1363871] Re: package nvidia-prime 0.6.6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 6

2014-10-14 Thread Jochen Kemnade
I have the same issue with 0.6.7, won't configure nor can I remove it.
According to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2247949 this might have
to do with me using `systemd` as `init`. Apparently that's what @paronikyan
does too.

The build failed because g++-4.9 is not available in trusty. I guess we
don't want to backport that too, so we'll probably have to try to build
with 4.8, which is available in trusty.

[Bug 558404] Re: freecol crashes after some playing

I also just got a crash, using freecol 0.9.2 from the getdeb though.
Just to make sure, it's the same problem: Could you try running freecol from a
terminal and look if the output after the crash looks similar to the one I get?

#

I was having extremely slow performance from freecol, as somebody else
described in this thread:
  http://sourceforge.net/projects/freecol/forums/forum/141201/topic/3269853
Sometimes when I click another part of the map it takes a really long time
to move, like 10-30 minutes long. It's easily overwhelmed. I dare not click too
quickly, because then I know it will slow down on me. This is especially
cumbersome when I'm trying to give troops goto orders, or select troops from
another part of the map. The whole game seems rather slow. I'm running .8.2 in

I tried uninstalling the openjdk -- namely, running dpkg -r openjdk-6-jre

+ After this, I ran update-alternatives to make sure I was running Sun's
+ Java 6. Now when I run the game (freecol), it is very responsive and

I'm not sure what the problem was, nor do I think I have the technical
skills to figure it out. I can offer one hint, however: running 'top'
during playing the game, with OpenJDK, showed that 73% of CPU time was
consumed by Xorg, and 20% from Java, so it is certainly some kind of
  graphical inefficiency.

[Bug 210472] Re: Timidity daemon doesn't play nice with pulse audio

2009-04-11 Thread Jochen Kemnade
Another way to fix this might be to have pulseaudio run as a system-wide daemon
instead of a per-user instance. This can be accomplished by changing the
PULSEAUDIO_SYSTEM_START=0 line in /etc/default/pulseaudio to
PULSEAUDIO_SYSTEM_START=1. This should make pulseaudio start before the
timidity daemon. It is not recommended to run pulseaudio as a system-wide
daemon, however.
Maybe it would also be possible to have the timidity server run in the user's
context instead of the system's? That would make it possible to start it from
within the gnome (or whatever) session after pulseaudio.

[Bug 302095] Re: German pidgin translation inconsistent (spelling)

2008-11-26 Thread Jochen Kemnade
Are you really sure that the »Buddys« does not affect the upstream
translation?

Yes, I am pretty sure, as I am one of the German pidgin translators. As
stated above, the correct German pluralization of Buddy (as well as of
any anglicism ending on a 'y') is appending an s, making it read
Buddys.

BTW, Kontakte is not a translation of Buddies which would rather be
something like Kumpel in German, but we decided to rather keep the
English term.

[Bug 302095] [NEW] German pidgin translation inconsistent (spelling)

2008-11-25 Thread Jochen Kemnade
Public bug reported:

The German pidgin translation is inconsistent. The English word passwort is
sometimes translated as Passwort (ngerman), and as Paßwort (german) in
other places.
Another example is the English string buddies, which is sometimes translated

buddies.

2007-12-17 Thread Jochen Kemnade
Public bug reported:

TuxGuitar-alsa is a plugin for TuxGuitar. It connects TuxGuitar’s MIDI

that with this plugin TuxGuitar will no longer use Java soundbank, but
ALSA MIDI output.

The source and feisty i386 packages are available from

[Bug 136844] Re: FretsOnFire.py crashed with ArgumentError in SetViewport()

2007-11-13 Thread Jochen Kemnade
In fact, it has nothing to do with missing songs, the problem is some missing
casts. a fix is available at http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL

applying the patch makes the application start and run, but unfortunately,
mostly it segfaults within the first few seconds.

[Bug 81217] Re: Audio/video metadata extraction does not work

2007-07-13 Thread Jochen Kemnade
you are probably already aware of this, but i wanted to make sure you haven't
overlooked the comment in line 175 of tracker-extract.c (that is before another
call to setrlimit), which says:
/* Set memory usage to max limit (128MB) - some archs like AMD64 machines do
not fully support this or are buggy */
that's why there is a conditional compilation of the following lines depending
on defined(__i386__).
maybe you could do the same for the other call (around line 484) to make it
work for 0.6.0 on x86_64?
i've not really familiar with the code and i just took a quick look. if that
sounds like a bad idea, just ignore me. ;-)
