[Bug 937091] Re: New Zoidberg version
Oooh, this irks me so much. It was non-responsive (wouldn't build) for years, then I released 0.981 in January, and they remove it in March. Honestly I'm not sure I care, I am generally of the opinion that Perl modules should be installed via CPAN if possible anyway. Still they couldn't have tried very hard to contact me or Jaap (original author), we have been available all this time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/937091 Title: New Zoidberg version To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zoidberg/+bug/937091/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 773533] Re: Mouse Dead Spots
An easy way to see the effect is to open gedit (or some graphical text editor) and move the mouse over the empty document. Most of the area will show the cursor as a the crossed capital letter I (i.e. a T also crossed underneath), except in these dead spots the cursor reverts to the mouse pointer. As mentioned in the OP nothing useful can be done with mouse interaction while the mouse is in this area. One exception to the rule that this dead spot applies to all applications is Tilda, a drop down console (quake-like), which I can easily imagine has different drawing and capture rules. Re: [Bug 621927] Re: Embedded Terminal Emulator isn't giving a TERM variable
gnome-terminal sets TERM for you. And Guake never set it, libvte did, which is what changed. I made some instructions on how to work around this before it was fixed in GDM. Assuming you use Ubuntu (or other flavor which has profile.d) follow them: http://joelslinux.blogspot.com/2010/10/ubuntu-maverick-term-variable.html Othewise change it so that you add the line directly to /etc/profile. [Bug 635804] Re: Tilda: TERM environment variable needs set
On Ubuntu I think the easiest way to fix this problem, both workaround and packaged as a solution, is to make a simple script in /etc/profile.d/ . I called mine set_term.sh (must end in .sh). The file need only have in it export TERM=xterm and then either run source /etc/profile or reboot. This will set the $TERM variable for all users on each boot without hardcoding the variable as some of the other programs I listed above have done. In one command, for those who need it run: echo export TERM=xterm | sudo tee /etc/profile.d/set_term.sh source /etc/profile Hope that helps. -- Tilda: TERM environment variable needs set https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/635804 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 205990] Re: [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds
I am having this issue as well. I prefer a swapfile, but I lose my usplash to get it. From watching the boot process I tend to agree with Ezra that the disk is not yet mounted thus the swap cannot be found yet. However the swap does get mounted eventually because I can 'cat /proc/meminfo' and see the swap available. My questions are, would there be any reason not to remove the swapfile from /etc/fstab and instead swapon /mnt/swap from rc.local? I know its clumsy but it might work. Also does it matter that I call /mnt/swap from /etc/fstab rather than the UUID that gets printed during the creation as per https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwapFaq#Example%20of%20making%20a%20swap%20file Thanks -- [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205990 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@ all: Thank ianrose for the idea of the script; I just liked the idea and wanted a single-command solution (something that could be called easily from a GUI). Finally, if anyone's got superior regex-fu to mine, feel free to convert that mess for setting $SANE_DEVICE into something more graceful. I've just never had much luck with backreferences in sed. Oh, and don't forget that the script is still just a workaround and I think it'll be better for us all in the long run to deal with this upstream (e.g. most likely the SANE developers) in the interest of a real fix. @ Arthus42: The only cases in which I could reproduce that error were for cases where the file as specified didn't exist (remember that sh file doesn't honor $PATH) or the user trying to run the script didn't have read permission to the file.
