[Bug 1871136] [NEW] Phatch GUI does not start on Bionic
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to Xubuntu Bionic Phatch GUI (tragically) no longer runs. (The CLI version still works) phatch -v /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/wx-3.0-gtk3/wx/_core.py:8196: Warning: cannot register existing type 'GdkDisplayManager' return _core_.PyApp__BootstrapApp(*args, **kwargs) /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/wx-3.0-gtk3/wx/_core.py:8196: Warning: g_once_init_leave: assertion 'result != 0' failed return _core_.PyApp__BootstrapApp(*args, **kwargs) /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/wx-3.0-gtk3/wx/_core.py:8196: Warning: g_object_new_with_properties: assertion 'G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed return _core_.PyApp__BootstrapApp(*args, **kwargs) I can see Debian has: phatch_0.2.7.1-5_all.deb phatch-cli_0.2.7.1-5_all.deb However the GUI doesn't work with these either. A shame as Phatch is one of the neatest apps around. I am no python wrangler so don't even know where to start on debugging this. ** Affects: phatch (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871136 Title: Phatch GUI does not start on Bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phatch/+bug/1871136/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1408856] Re: [HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
OK, after no help in finding how to install the suggested program, and a lot of fruitless searching I finally stumbled acros : https://launchpad.net/~diwic/+archive/ubuntu/ppa More specifically you need this : https://launchpad.net/~diwic/+archive/ubuntu/hda To install do the following : sudo add-apt-repository ppa:diwic/hda sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install snd-hda-tools Once I ran it I got the following, if it makes any sense : sudo hdajacksensetest Pin 0x15 (Black Headphone, Rear side): present = Yes Pin 0x18 (Black Mic, Rear side): present = Yes Ironically the laptop has a pair of sockets at the front for headphones but no actual ´rear´ ones. It seems that whether the headphones are plugged in or not the system believes that they are, and that the internal speakers are therefore ´disconnected´ WIll happily diagnose/test further if someone tells me what to do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1408856 Title: [HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1408856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1408856] Re: [HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
FYI I had another go at compiling the Realtek driver. After a couple of reboots I tried this in alsa-base.conf : options snd-hda-intel model=inv-dmic I now have sound via the internal speakers but not the headphones. Pulse still shows speakers unavailable even though it is playing through them Can you tell me where I can get hda-jack-sense-test as it is not in my installed version of alsa-tool ** Attachment added: Installed alsa version https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1408856/+attachment/4294579/+files/InstalledAlsa.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1408856 Title: [HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1408856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Note I also tried varying different lines in alsa.base.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1408856 Title: [HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1408856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1408856] [NEW] [HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC, Realtek ALC268, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all
Public bug reported: Sound won´t work on default install on internal speakers or headphones. Downloaded Realtek driver, compiled and installed and still no sound. Compile command ./configure --with-cards=hda-intel Rt-Linux-HDaudio-5.18/alsa-driver-RTv5.18 Clearly some thing is happeing as the volume controls work, and in pulse volume control it shows varying volume on the meters.
