[Bug 1702071] Re: Search spins forever, returns no results.
this is happened for me on 21.10 and I just upgraded to the development release of 22.04 and it was still happening. version 41.2-1 the spinner would just sit there spinning on a search. strace of gnome-software showed it doing nothing really. [Bug 1730728] Re: gnome-shell crashes randomly, error in libgobject-2.0.so.0.5400.1
I have this same crashing problem, several times a day. Started about a week ago. I also have the same problem trying to report it. I have /var/crash /_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash which is 65M. When I try report it using either appport-bug or apport-cli, those commands just exit silently (apport-bug prompts me if I want to report a bug report first and then does so). They create a 0 byte _usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.upload file. So I'm having trouble reporting it too. For the record I've tried disabling all extensions, but that hasn't helped. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730728 Title: gnome-shell crashes randomly, error in libgobject-2.0.so.0.5400.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1730728/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 977866] Re: no sound while playing music from a gvfs mounted samba share
I've done some more digging. Using the gstreamer debugging options, I've at least identified a difference between totem and rhythmbox here. I can see totem somehow translates the smb:// url to the fuse mount path and just uses the filesrc gstreamer source element to read the file (and can successfully play it): 0:00:00.722405619 2515 0x7ffd6bfd3730 INFO filesrc gstfilesrc.c:374:gst_file_src_set_location: filename : /home/john/.gvfs/music on lion/Music/Therapy/Therapy - Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3 0:00:00.722418749 2515 0x7ffd6bfd3730 INFO filesrc gstfilesrc.c:375:gst_file_src_set_location: uri : file:///home/john/.gvfs/music%20on%20lion/Music/Therapy/Therapy%20-%20Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3 rhythmbox doesn't use the fuse mount - instead using the gio_src gstreamer source element. It appears to be continue reading it fine, though as explained above the output goes silent after about 1 or 2 seconds. 0:00:01.292036091 2468 0xf8c8d0 DEBUGgio_src gstgiosrc.c:335:gst_gio_src_get_stream:source opened location smb://lion/music/Music/Therapy/Therapy%20-%20Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3 But I can have gstreamer play the file successfully using giosrc using gst-launch: gst-launch-0.10 giosrc location=smb://lion/music/Music/Therapy/Therapy - Nurse/Teethgrinder.mp3 ! flump3dec ! autoaudiosink I've attached debug logs of my gst-launch and the rhythmbox commands attempting to play the same file - using the options GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=gio_src:5,gio_base_src:5,basesrc:5,gnomevfs:5,filesrc:5 There are some differences between the two, but I'm not sure what is relevant. In particularly, one appears to be in push mode and one pull. They both read the file in 4k chunks, but rhythmbox does it from a weird initial offset for some reason (perhaps due to it reading metadata info though). Nothing obviously conclusive to me though. ** Attachment added: gst-launch-and-rhythmbox-debug-logs.tar.gz https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/977866/+attachment/3221312/+files/gst-launch-and-rhythmbox-debug-logs.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/977866 Title: no sound while playing music from a gvfs mounted samba share To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/977866/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 578853] Re: After changing device profile to Off, it can't be reenabled without restarting pulseaudio
This happened here too with my Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) but it's a bit more complicated. I added a second (usb) audio device and it showed up in the hardware list, but when I selected it the input and output device lists didn't change (they stayed set as the internal device). So I set the internal one to Off which switched the output device to Dummy output but the usb input and output devices still weren't listed. I then removed the usb device and set the internal one back (Analog Stereo Duplex) but the output device still said Dummy Output. Logging in and out didn't fix this. After reading this bug report, I sent a TERM signal to the pulseaudio daemon and it restarted and now it works fine. I can switch the profile to off and back and it works fine without killing it. And I can also switch to my usb device and back and it works as expected. Seems a bit like pulseaudio wasn't properly responding (fyi, the pulseaudio process was over 10 days old and didn't restart after a login and logout (i.e: the process wasn't killed when I logged out). pulseaudio1:1.1-0ubuntu15 Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Release:12.04 Codename: precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/578853 Title: After changing device profile to Off, it can't be reenabled without restarting pulseaudio To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/578853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 977866] Re: no sound while playing music from a gvfs mounted samba share
Further investigation reveals that Rhythmbox can play flacs via a samba share but not mp3s (sounds crazy, but I've triple checked!) Totem can play both only if the ~/.gvfs fuse filesystem is mounted. Today, the gvfs-fuse-daemon process had crashed (or otherwise stopped for some reason) and totem was having the same problem as rhythmbox (playing the first second or two of mp3s). When I remounted .gvfs totem was able to play mp3s (though rhythmbox still could not). [Bug 259487] Re: xen virtual Machines and Dom0 crashes with BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0, CPU#1, CPU#2, CPU#3 stuck for 11s!
I managed to reproduce this quite reliably so did some trials to find out how to improve things. This is 64bit dom0 on Xen 3.3.0 (On Centos) on Dell 2940s The domU is a 32bit Hardy box with 1G ram. With all the available hardy Xen kernels, this soft lockup kept happening. I tried also tried clocksource=jiffies. Then I tried the latest Intrepid kernels and the problem was solved. As I understand, the Intrepid kernel has the proper kernel.org upstream xen support (rather than the forward ported patch from 2.6.18 as is Hardy iirc). So whilst this solves the problem (for me), it's a pretty big change and isn't something I'd expect to see backported to Hardy. The new upstream Xen stuff changes the way block devices and the console are done, so you can't switch without some tweaks to your Xen configs (and guest OS config) but other than that it seemed to work fine with Hardy. Incidentally, I replaced this domU with a 64bit Hardy install, with the standard 64bit Hardy kernel, and that also solved the soft lockups. -- xen virtual Machines and Dom0 crashes with BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0,CPU#1,CPU#2,CPU#3 stuck for 11s! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/259487 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

according to the changelog, this was supposedly fixed in a changeset of 2007-03-16 by Jim Krehl [EMAIL PROTECTED] Simplified the TileTable object to make it more generic. Stop loading tiles after the table limit has been reached, this is to prevent delays associated with large ~/.recently-used{,.xbel} files. [Bug 196470] Re: [hardy] flash plugin can't play videos at all then other program is using audio device
Confirmed here on Hardy, latest updates from the repository. Play for 2 to 3 seconds with no sound output then stops (though the vid keeps buffering). Seeking starts again for 2 - 3 seconds. If I kill the pulseaudio daemon and reload the page, the video plays perfectly, with sound. If I remove the libflashsupport package (which I have to force, because flashplugin-nonfree depends on it) things works as expected: flash movies play - alongside music from totem or whatever too. So I think this is actually either a bug with libflashsupport or pulseaudio, though I'll leave as flashplugin-nonfree. Additionally, I can't output sound using pulseaudio. If I set the sound preferences to pulseaudio and click test, I hear no test sound. Sound *input* works with pulseaudio though. ii flashplugin-nonfree 9.0.115.0ubuntu4 ii libflashsupport 1.9-0ubuntu1 ii pulseaudio0.9.9-1ubuntu2 DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu hardy (development branch) ** Changed in: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- [hardy] flash plugin can't play videos at all then other program is using audio device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196470 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I cherry picked from oozie just what is needed to stop the usb disconnect (basically, i think udev needs to load usbserial with those vendor and product strings whenever it spots the huawei cdrom device appearing (rather than the mass storage drivers, which causes disconnection of the serial devices for some reason). cat /etc/udev/rules.d/99-huawei.rules SUBSYSTEM==block, \ ACTION==add, \ SYSFS{idVendor}==12d1, \ SYSFS{idProduct}==1003, \ RUN+=/sbin/modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x1003, \ OPTIONS=ignore_device It now works with the vodafone python program and connects fine (in fact, I'm using it right now to file this bug). [Bug 195357] Re: huawei e220 hardy alpha 5 - problem
Same here with latest updated Hardy. It worked perfect in gutsy, but with Hardy it is detected but is then disconnected a few seconds later. It does this in a loop until it is unplugged. See the dmesg output below containing lines from when the device is plugged in to when it is lost.. It is usual that it is detected as 2 serial ports and a mass storage device (the storage device just contains the windows drivers) though I'm not sure about it being detected as a CDROM though. Strangely, network-manager is seeing the hal device notifys. Not sure if that is normal (copied in below too) cat /proc/version Linux version 2.6.24-11-generic ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu1)) #1 SMP Fri Feb 29 22:08:31 UTC 2008 [ 2509.759949] usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 [ 2509.917515] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 2509.923888] scsi23 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices [ 2509.925270] usb-storage: device found at 5 [ 2509.925275] usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning [ 2509.968822] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 5 [ 2510.702826] usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 6 [ 2510.866000] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 2510.870454] usb-storage: probe of 2-1:1.0 failed with error -5 [ 2510.873669] usb-storage: probe of 2-1:1.1 failed with error -5 [ 2510.882945] scsi26 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices [ 2510.889270] usb-storage: device found at 6 [ 2510.889279] usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning [ 2511.069404] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial [ 2511.069422] /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for generic [ 2511.069465] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbserial_generic [ 2511.069467] /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial Driver core [ 2511.085325] /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for GSM modem (1-port) [ 2511.085359] option 2-1:1.0: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected [ 2511.085489] usb 2-1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB0 [ 2511.085500] option 2-1:1.1: GSM modem (1-port) converter detected [ 2511.085566] usb 2-1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB1 [ 2511.085576] usbcore: registered new interface driver option [ 2511.085579] /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/drivers/usb/serial/option.c: USB Driver for GSM modems: v0.7.1 [ 2515.799417] usb-storage: device scan complete [ 2515.802382] scsi 26:0:0:0: CD-ROMHUAWEI Mass Storage 2.31 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 [ 2515.840314] sr1: scsi-1 drive [ 2515.840404] sr 26:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr1 [ 2515.840452] sr 26:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 5 [ 2518.311995] usb 2-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 6 [ 2518.901314] usb 2-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 6 [ 2519.018979] usb 2-1: device descriptor read/64, error -71 [ 2519.187927] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 6 [ 2519.188448] option1 ttyUSB0: GSM modem (1-port) converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0 [ 2519.188466] option 2-1:1.0: device disconnected [ 2519.188700] option1 ttyUSB1: GSM modem (1-port) converter now disconnected from ttyUSB1 [ 2519.188716] option 2-1:1.1: device disconnected Mar 8 18:50:59 dogen NetworkManager: debug [1205002259.970785] nm_hal_device_added(): New device added (hal udi is '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_12d1_1003_noserial'). [Bug 199518] [NEW] scim interface appeared by default
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: scim-bridge-client-gtk I'm following the latest Hardy repositories and an SCIM tool appeared yesterday. [Bug 199546] [NEW] erratic and almost entirely broken with Intel card in Hardy
Public bug reported: hi, the displayconfig-gtk tool just doesn't work right at all on my Lenovo Thinkpad R61 with the latest Hardy updates. Unfortunately I've not tried it before so don't know how well it worked previously. It lists 3 screens, two entries for Screen 1, and one for Screen 2 (my external monitor). The model names and resolutions are all wrong. The graphics card list show two cards. The first one as none and the second one as vesa. Changing any of these and applying creates a config that prevents X from starting up (goes into the rescue mode thing). I've attached some output from lshw and xrandr. I'm currently running the laptop with an external monitor (with the internal one disabled). This config was achieved with the xrandr cmdline tool. This machine has a Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 graphics card. ii displayconfig-gtk 0.3.7 John. ** Affects: displayconfig-gtk Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: displayconfig-gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- erratic and almost entirely broken with Intel card in Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199546 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 199549] [NEW] Screen resolution settings not applying
Public bug reported: In the latest updated Hardy, the gnome-display-settings tool doesn't work. It shows my two screens ok, but settings to them don't take effect.
