Just installed trusty (14.04) and this upstream problem is still

I look forward to testing 13.04. Hard to believe that a few windows
properties settings can be such a pain, but I do understand that the
man-power shortage can cause problems.

Immediatly after the fix was downloaded and installed by apt, nothing
was changed. Half an hour later, all is well.
This is a new idea for me. I have always believed that if you put a fix

menus. The problem seems to be intermittent. Computer programs are not
supposed to do this. Do you suppose the Unity code needs a total
rewrite?

main cpu(s) at high revs and uses the ATI/AMD module strictly as a

fglrx will not load at all on my AMD/ATI RS780 chip set (on my mobo).
Doesn't seem to make much difference, as my system runs just fine in DVI
mode, and the one game I have that requires accelerated sound and video

We've been talking at cross purposes. There are two alarm-clock apps. You
seem to be talking about the Alarm-Clock-Applet and I am using Alarm-Clock.
I just added the applet to my system using Synaptic and it was
immediately added to my start up programs list. On a log out/in
Wrong! On 12.04 LTS even with the app. in the Launcher (Ubuntu desktop)
the text box for the passive popup message is not available. The widget
seems to be missing.
Clearly, this responder did not understand my original post. Neither
does it appear in the add counter function.

panel so that it can be updated.
