[Bug 704046] Re: [launcher] can't add java programs as favorites

2012-02-14 Thread Jorge Moraleda
This is a problem in gnome-shell as well: I just tested using Ubuntu
11.10 and jEdit does not show Add to Favorites like other apps do.

** Also affects: gnome-shell

[Bug 238805] Re: ntpd doesn't work - time is not synchronized

2010-01-13 Thread Jorge Moraleda
Ok, but then the question is. How/why did this happen? Did ntpdate not
get called when I first installed package ntp? (Years ago), and my clock
has been always out of sync and drifting I did just notice? (possible)
or did the clock get out of sync when I turned off the machine for a
couple of weeks because I was on vacation? (also possible). Should
ntpdate be set to run by default on boot when installing package ntp?

[Bug 238805] Re: ntpd doesn't work - time is not synchronized

2010-01-13 Thread Jorge Moraleda
Ok, after further research, it seems that ntp really is not working on my
system:
ntpdate returns no server suitable for synchronization found every time
regardless of what server I point it too, and ntpq -p does not have star next
to any server and reach, delay, offset, and jitter all show 0.

Never mind... Our firewall seems to block the ntp port. Synchronizing
with an internal server makes both ntp and ntddate work. Sorry for the
confusion.

2010-01-12 Thread Jorge Moraleda
I just reopened the bug. It is affecting me too. I am running 64 bit
Karmic Koala up to date. This computer is always on. It has continuous
access to the internet and is not a virtual machine.

 sudo /etc/init.d/ntp status
 * NTP server is running.

 grep ^server /etc/ntp.conf
server ntp.ubuntu.com

My clock is more than 13 minutes off.

[Bug 366967] Re: ifupdown-udev integration should be thought-out more thoroghly

2009-12-05 Thread Jorge Moraleda
My symptoms are the same on ubuntu 9.10 karmic. I use a static ip
address, but I decided to migrate from specifying my dns servers in
/etc/resolv.conf to adding a dns-nameservers line in
/etc/network/interfaces. After a full boot /etc/resolv.conf is blank
with only the comment lines.

  # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
  # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN

After I manually restart the network with ifdown/ifup, then my
resolv.conf gets properly written.

This my /etc/network/interfaces:

  auto lo
  iface lo inet loopback

  iface eth1 inet static
  address 192.168.1.11
  netmask 255.255.255.0
  gateway 192.168.1.1
  dns-nameservers 68.94.157.1 68.94.156.1
  auto eth1

[Bug 293970] Re: bonobo-activation-server : could not associate with desktop session

2009-01-15 Thread Jorge Moraleda
This bug is also intermittently triggered by the use of a KVM switch.
Sometimes when switching back to this computer (Up-to-date ubuntu 8.10
64bits) the gnome user session ends after less than a second with the
user being logged out.

From /var/log/messages:
Jan 15 13:43:01 sella bonobo-activation-server (jorge-2136): could not
associate with desktop session: Failed to connect to socket

[Bug 147505] Re: helix plugin not loaded by firefox. Work around.

2008-03-30 Thread Jorge Moraleda
I have observed the same packaging bug. Firefox will not discover the
helix plugin until symbolic links are created in
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins. These links should be created by the package
installer, but they are not.

A work around is to create the symbolic links manually as follows:
 sudo ln -s
/etc/alternatives/mozilla-browser_nphelix.mozilla-browser_nphelix.so
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/nphelix.so
 sudo ln -s
/etc/alternatives/mozilla-browser_nphelix.mozilla-browser_nphelix.xpt
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins/nphelix.xpt

[Bug 158502] Re: evince freezes when using firefox, mozplugger

2008-03-17 Thread Jorge Moraleda
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 145064 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145064

I use epiphany and mozplugger and experienced the same problem. When I
 open any (used http://www.umuc.edu/library/database/acrobat/test.pdf for
testing) PDF file, Evince just hangs. The Evince toolbar works at first,
but the content is not loaded.

Resizing the browser window usually unfreezes it.

I have the same behavior, including the resizing trick.
I am running up-to-date ubuntu gutsy on 64 bit architecture.

[Bug 107646] nvidia kernel module has version mismatch with nvidia xorg module. Solution

2007-11-04 Thread Jorge Moraleda
I have the same Problem. I have test the nvidia-glx-new and go back to
nvidia-glx. The kernel module mismatches. Can`t start X.

I was able to solve it by deleting the file /lib/linux-restricted-
modules/.nvidia_new_installed

[Bug 119392] Re: Nautilus won't copy cd, closes unexpectedly at 'create disc image' progress bar window.

2007-06-08 Thread Jorge Moraleda
Confirmed using 2 different computers (with different cd drives) and 2
different data cd's.
The problem is obtaining an iso image from a cd . (Once an iso image exists,
burning it into a blank cd is not a problem).

Running feisty.
Kernel version: 2.6.20-16-generic
nautilus-cd-burner version: 2-18-1-0ubuntu1

An empty image is created: (e.g. /tmp/image.iso.LTDDTT)

a line that seems relevant from .xsession-errors
** (nautilus-cd-burner:28156): WARNING **: Unable to prepare tracks for burning

I am happy to provide more information.
