The addition of nomodeset acpi_backlight=vendor to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in
/etc/default/grub (with subsequent update-grub) used to work ok in my NB
(Toshiba Satellite Pro T110 009007) with 9.10 and 10.04 beta1. After installing
10.04 beta 2, it no longer works. Not even the notification
continuing...
I changed from vendor to native and the notification now shows when
pressing FN+F6 and FN+F7, bit screen brightness does not change. Does anybody
knows the magic word (if any)?

I tried to load toshiba_acpi_ko (using sudo modprobe toshiba_acpi) with
no success. I got a error message saying that there is no such device
(I double check the

hi, guys. it seems that all this discussion if because gcl needs to have
ANSI enabled to compile maxima. Instead of recompiling gcl with
--enable-ansi, and have to work with the brk and sbrk problems, the best
is to enable ANSI in gcl. For that, after installing gcl ($ sudo apt-get
install gcl),
the only difference from the previous bug description and mine is that
that is for amd64 and this one is for x86
