[Bug 1643178] [NEW] When a folder is displayed where there are big files that are growing, it locks

2016-11-19 Thread Juanma
Public bug reported:

Linux Mint xfce 17 (sarah )
Thunar 1.6.10

I am running from the console a script file that stores a lot of
information (several hundred MB) in several files. If I open thunar and
try to see the folder where those files are, thunar gets blocked and the
system load reaches almost 100%

** Affects: thunar (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Re: [Bug 1624479] Re: xhci_hcd dont assign usb port to ipod shuffle 2 generation

2016-09-22 Thread Juanma
I found a temporary solution. If I insert a cheap usb hub (USB
2.0) then the Ipod is found and installed without problems.

Only at another notebook (32bist) with Lubuntu with kernel 4.4.0-22
 goes
 OK.

Ipod is vendor-> 05ac product 1301

The systems where do NOT goes is using xhci_hcd on usb port.

The system where all OK is using ehci-pci on the usb port

I have tested on a new laptop (acer c910 chromebook ) using Linux
Mint 17.3 (Rosa) XFCE 64 bits with kernel 3.19.0-32-generic X86_64 and
all OK.

This time Ipod was mounted using xhci_hcd.

[Bug 1445271] [NEW] Try to preview multiple pages per sheet into print dialog does not work.

2015-04-16 Thread Juanma
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.10 (Unity)
Cups: 1.7.5-3ubuntu3.1
hplip: 3.14.6-1ubuntu1

Example with Evince program:

I try to preview into print dialog 2 (or more) pages per sheet,
with a PDF file the opened preview windows shows only an empty page when
I select 2 page per sheet selection, and only shows one miniature page (
but several pages stacked on top of each other, overlapping ) when
select 4 or more pages per sheet . The same file, but conver to
POSTSCRIPT (with pdftops ), shows always only 1 page.

The same behavior occurs with GEdit program for example.

[Bug 713645] Re: pdftops causes high cpu load

2011-10-13 Thread Juanma
Hi,

I have just reinstalled Lucid, and this time I did not install the
Samsung Linux drivers, but used the ones the distro comes with. Now
printing is faster, much faster.

I guess there is something wrong with the Samsung drivers.

So, forget my contribution to this bug.

THanks 4 the help!

[Bug 577189] Re: iwl3945 microcode SW error detected under heavy net load

2011-10-13 Thread Juanma
This bug just sucks, I am starting to consider moving to Apple stuff. I
hate windows, but some bugs in Linux seem to be fosilized ! Every time I
download something big (100Mb) my Wifi network dies and I have to
disable/enable Networking to solve it.

I however do not want to upgrade to newer Ubuntu versions, Lucid is
fine, and does not come with this strange Unity stuff.

Thanks and cheers!

[Bug 578161] Re: Display brightness under the brightness range after resume from suspend to RAM

2011-08-12 Thread Juanma
I have the same bug in my Dell Latitude D820 Laptop, *sometimes*
resuming from suspend does not restore the brightness and you can not
change it any longer. Reboot is needed.

I have tried manually changing it with:

(minimal brightness)
echo 0 |sudo tee -a
/sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/backlight/dell_backlight/brightness
0

(maximal brightness)
echo 7 |sudo tee -a
/sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/backlight/dell_backlight/brightness
7

And here it is reported to change, but nothing happens in the backlight
actually.
 cat
/sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/backlight/dell_backlight/actual_brightness
7

uname -a:
Linux dell 2.6.35-25-generic #44~lucid1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 25 19:19:31 UTC 2011
i686 GNU/Linux

10.04 up-to-date

What can I try, what can I do to fix it (or help fixing it)?

Cheers,

Jm

[Bug 577189] Re: iwl3945 microcode SW error detected under heavy net load

2010-09-25 Thread Juanma
I really can not believe that this bug does not affect more people.
Probably they do not see it if they only use the WiFi card for internet
browsing with not very fast connections. However, as soon as you start
downloading a big file pretty fast, it is a matter of minutes that is
required for the wlan to hang.

In my system I have to go to disable/enable networking so that I get
online again. Pretty anoying.

To me still hapenning as of today with up to date:

Lucid 2.6.32-24-generic-pae-phc

Any clues ?

Thnks,

Jm

[Bug 185470] Re: iwl3945 not functioning : microcode error

2010-05-07 Thread Juanma
Hello community,

Sorry to say, but I am having this bug in Ubuntu Lucid. The Microcode
error appears after heavy load.

Similar, if not the same bug, has been reported also:
http://bugzilla.intellinuxwireless.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1593 and at the
end there is still a user with Ubuntu 9.10 RC having this issue.

Happens with kernel 2.6.32-19-generic-pae but also with 2.6.32-21
-generic-pae-phc (low voltage tunning).

Mostly happens after heavy net loads (download a 150Mb file from another
computer in the local network), after several seconds, sometimes it
works sometimes hangs (too often).

I have tried to load the module with the debug parameter, as described in
http://bugzilla.intellinuxwireless.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1593, which is:
modprobe iwl3945 debug=0x43fff but got the error:

So, here is my dmesg | grep iwl3945:

[Bug 507504] Re: display freezes, [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung

2010-04-05 Thread Juanma
Got similar behaviour on latest lucid kernel. It happens to me normally
after closing the lid of the laptop, or coming from standby. Could not
say when exactly.

Sys info:
Dell Latitude D820 with i945GMA integrated graph chipset.

Error:
[12881.776095] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed...
GPU hung
[12881.776109] render error detected, EIR: 0x

kernel: 2.6.32-18-generic-pae

Was working with Karmic with no problems.

[Bug 307086] Re: no sound on Dell D630 docking station

2010-03-31 Thread Juanma
Confirmed on a Latitude D820 running latest Ubuntu Lucid beta update:

Linux dell 2.6.32-18-generic-pae #27-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 26 21:21:16 UTC
2010 i686 GNU/Linux

Sound comes on the laptop speakers, and nothing goes out to the
headphone out.

[Bug 307086] Re: no sound on Dell D630 docking station

2010-03-31 Thread Juanma
Sorry,I was too fast posting. For me it IS working, but as some users
mentioned, it is just not being automatically switches when docked. I
have to manually select under sound preferences on the Hardware tab,
the:Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output so that the sound is routed to the
docking output. And then, the sound does not come through the laptop
speakers any more.

Cheers,

Jm

[Bug 415386] Re: aptitude Search Patterns don't work

2009-12-04 Thread Juanma
The problem remains present. All the following commands will give the same
error output:
$ aptitude search ?name\(apt\)
$ aptitude search '?name(apt)'
$ aptitude search ?name(apt)

and the error output is, as expected:
E: Regex compilation error: Invalid preceding regular expression

This works fine:
$ aptitude search ~napt

[Bug 410446] Re: pulseaudio doesn't remember last volume, sets to 0 every boot

2009-09-30 Thread Juanma
Similar is happening here on a Dell Latitude D-820 running Kubuntu
Karmic Koala up-to-date (as today). Really annoying, after every reboot
the PCM value is down to zero, and I have to manually bring it up so
that I can listen something. Interestingly, I do not have the issue that
the volume changes between playing songs.

[Bug 255058] Re: TAB autocomplete does not work correctly for chown user:group

2009-05-11 Thread Juanma
Changing the binding of autocompletion function to command from this:
  complete -F _chown $filenames chown
to this:
complete -F _chown -o nospace chown
avoids both the quotting of the colon and the adding of a trailing space added
(both actions are performed by Bash's autocompletion features, so the package
selection is probably right).

The relevant line is in /etc/bash_completion.

The problem of this solution is that it breaks the proper filename
completion for 'chown'.
