That line was already commented out (#dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d) in config.txt
so I blacklisted module v3d, works now better with 1013 kernel. Thanks.

[Bug 1848790] Re: USB not working under arm64 on Pi4 with 4G ram

2019-11-23 Thread Jussi Saarinen
I tried kernel linux-image-5.3.0-1013-raspi2 on Pi4. I'm running mate-
desktop-environment using autologin and with this kernel X-server
started but only showing black screen with mouse cursor, I could log in
with ssh. I rolled back to linux-image-5.3.0-1012-raspi2 for now.

2017-10-23 Thread Jussi Saarinen
After upgrade from 17.04 to 17.10 I can only change brightness if I log
in to unity desktop and from there adjust brightness setting in system
settings.

With Ubuntu 17.10 I have tried following combinations:
Xorg, nvidia & unity: ok
Xorg, nvidia & gnome: not ok
Wayland, nouveau & gnome: not ok

[Bug 1256811] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad T400] linux kernel panic on bluetooth DUN disconnect

2014-07-06 Thread Jussi Saarinen
There are at least four similar bug reports (including this one) here in
Launchpad on this problem:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1144322

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1165433

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1189998

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-raring/+bug/1256811

Anyway, if these are about the same bug that I think they are, the bug
has now been completely fixed in kernel version 3.14, though kernel
version 3.12 included some of the fix. Also there was one previous fix
that is also needed that I think was backported to stable before 3.12.
And there was also one fix applied between 3.12 and 3.14.

I think I manged to list all the necessary commits, Here are links to
the commits, in case they need to be backported:

Anyway, if these are about the same bug that I think they are, the bug
has now been completely fixed in kernel version 3.14, though kernel
version 3.12 included some of the fix. Also there was one previous fix
that is also needed that I think was backported to stable before 3.12.

I think I manged to list all the necessary commits, Here are links to
the commits, in case they need to be backported:

The first fix (pre 3.12?):

[Bug 409037] [NEW] (Intel 82815) Switching to DPMS off doesn't switch laptop's LCD backlight off

2009-08-04 Thread Jussi Saarinen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I am unable to switch my laptop's LCD backlight off. Whenever I switch
my monitor to DPMS off, the screen gets black but the backlight stays
on. Though I am currently running Karmic Koala daily build from
2009-08-03 with xorg-edgers ppa, this problem has been present since
Ubuntu 8.04 (and possibly even before that). The difference in karmic is
that now gnome-power-manager doesn't even blank the screen.

I have enabled dpms in xorg.conf, and according to Xorg.log.0, it is
enabled.

Running these commands (after killing gnome-power-manager):
xset -q | grep Monitor xset dpms force off sleep 5 xset -q | grep
Monitor sleep 5 xset dpms force on xset -q | grep Monitor

provides the following output:
  Monitor is On
  Monitor is Off
  Monitor is On

So according xset, DPMS should be working. That it not the case. The monitor
does turn black but the backlight stays on.

My laptop is a Fujitsu-Siemens LifeBook C-6637 and it has an Intel 82815
graphics chip (i815).

My xserver-xorg-video-intel version is 2.8.0+git20090804.af45482a-
0ubuntu0sarvatt (karmic).

[Bug 190030] Re: Hardy Heron Jre (java) does not work with Firefox, Mozilla, Galeon

2008-02-08 Thread Jussi Saarinen
I had sun-java6-jre_6-04-1 related problem too. Following seems to fix
it, at least it did the trick for me:

sudo sed -i 's/XINERAMA/FAKEEXTN/g'
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.04/jre/lib/i386/xawt/libmawt.so
