[Bug 965280] Re: Thinkpad T420s - Ricoh e823 not working with SDHC cards (11.10)

2013-02-19 Thread Justin J Stark
FYI: I have a Lenovo X230 with Ubuntu 12.04. My card reader was not
working until I followed Premik's commands followed by rmmoding and
modprobing sdhci and sdhci_pci. As soon as I did that the card
automounted.

The following is from lspci -v.

02:00.0 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd MMC/SD Host Controller (rev 07)
(prog-if 01)
Subsystem: Lenovo Device 21fa
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16
Memory at f1d0 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256]
Capabilities: access denied
Kernel driver in use: sdhci-pci
Kernel modules: sdhci-pci

I couldn't get the reader to work at all. It was giving me the
following in dmesg.

[15536.020115] mmcblk0: error -110 sending status command, retrying
[15536.020157] mmcblk0: error -110 sending status command, retrying

[Bug 290549] [NEW] Headphone jack no longer working in Intrepid 8.10 RC

2008-10-28 Thread Justin J Stark
Public bug reported:

I have a Dell 1535. I recently upgraded to 8.10 RC.

My problem is that my headphone jack does not work. When I plug in
headphones, the main laptop speakers turn off but I get nothing out of
my headphones.

Everything in alsamixer is turned up. If I select the two switches
analog loopback and headphone as line out then I get sound out of my
headphones and not speakers but I should not have to toggle switches
whenever I want to use headphones.

[Bug 85424] Re: Unmount fails every time

2008-01-06 Thread Justin J Stark
@Tim:
I'm not the right person to answer this but I'm sure .hal-mtab is important
because it lets HAL know what devices are currently mounted. It sounds like
the file itself is not the problem but, rather, something is propagating
.hal-mtab with repetitive lines. When the device then gets unmounted, only one
of these lines gets removed from .hal-mtab. The device successfully unmounts
but HAL sees the device as still mounted in .hal-mtab and hence throws an
error. That's just my guess.

I could be wrong but the file should be there in Gutsy and as far as I
can tell, the problem is fixed in Gutsy. Is it possible you upgraded
from Feisty and the .hal-mtab that was causing problems was created by
Feisty? Do you ever experience this bug again after fixing(removing)
.hal-mtab?

[Bug 66461] Re: edgy: places-network servers error

2007-12-05 Thread Justin J Stark
I have stopped using this functionality since it broke. A good
workaround is to

1) Open the ftp or ssh folder in nautilus (ex: ssh://mysshserver.com)
2) Give nautilus your login details and store it on the keyring
3) Add the location as a nautilus bookmark

Then the server location will show up in your Places menu as an ordinary
folder bookmark.

It's not an ideal solution but it is a good solution until this bug is
fixed.

2007-04-03 Thread Justin J Stark
Attached is the output of lshal.

dev only appears in open/save gtk dialogs, not in nautilus or the
places menu.

And shouldn't there be a File System shortcut in gtk open/save? I know
there was in gnome 2.16. Without it, it makes things like searching the
root filesystem with gnome's Search for files completely impossible.
Even parenting all the way up, it still forces you to select a folder.

[Bug 96719] File System not in gtk open/save dialogs: inconsistency.

2007-03-26 Thread Justin J Stark
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

After upgrading from Edgy to Feisty:

1) I do not have a File System bookmark in the gnome-panel places.

2) The bookmarks in nautilus places show

Home
Desktop
File System

3) The bookmarks in gtk open/save dialogs show

Home
Desktop
dev
Network Servers

Where is File System in the gtk open/save dialogs? It is difficult (sometimes
impossible) to open files/folders in the root directory without a link pointing
there.

Also, where is Network Servers in nautilus? These things should be
consistent.

Also, what is dev? Is it a bug or part of Feisty Beta?

** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 66461] Re: edgy: places-network servers error

2006-12-11 Thread Justin J Stark
I also have this problem. I'm not sure if it's a problem or not, but I
have no ftp url-handler in desktop-gnome-url-handlers.
