raring amd64 does work.

[Bug 1247189] Re: [13.10] Ubuntu freezes completely when switching user

2013-12-30 Thread Justin Solms
Dear all.

I have the same problem after upgrading from 13.04. Only now I use
ubuntu 13.10 GNOME running GDM.

[Although I had the same problem when I tried unity with lightdm -
History: I was so frustrated I tried Unity (32 64 bit) and now Gnome
all with the same results.]

Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 32-bit.
NVIDIA Corporation GT218M (NVS 3100M/PCIe/SSE2)
3.8.0-34-generic
GDM 3.8.4

I switch user. I have the new user session. I then alt-ctl-f7. I then
have a frozen background-artwork-only graphic screen for the 1st user
session. No alt-ctl-f1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and so on. I have not yet tested if
I am able to ssh into the machine after it hangs.

Please advise of any additional info or tasks needed. I am currently
away on leave but shall be able to attend to instructions from you re
this matter from 2nd last week Jan'14 onward.

This really affects me allot as I have seperate business and home user
id's and switched allot in 13.04.

Kind regards,
Justin

Hi Christopher

Thanks for the reply. I did look at bug 1240595 but was unable to figure
out if it was indeed a duplicate.

Thanks all the same.

 Hi Justin,

Thanks for reporting this bug. However, this bug has already been
identified and is a duplicate of bug #1240595. A fix has been
identified and we are working on the process to get it into the Unity
 package for 13.10/14.04.

2012-05-24 Thread Justin Solms
Further to my previous post. I did a remmina* purge, restart and re-
install. I tried keyboard sync disabled then again enabled. I did notice
that in settings tab Keyboard, clicking Host key, pressing right or left
ctrl+some_key yields capitalised some_key as the result displayed. I
now believe Remmina is not responding to my Ctrl keys and that is the
actual cause of my Ctrl- key problems when working on my win-box.

2012-05-24 Thread Justin Solms
I have started to temporarily use KRDC and have noticed the same problem
that Ctrl-C, Ctr-V, Ctrl-Z yield c,v and z respectively instead of their
mapped functions. As I wrote before, this is to a win-XP box. I also
tried KRDC and Remmina on a different win-NT box and got the the same
Ctrl-key problems.

However xfreerdp has no Ctrl-key problems. Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v, etc., all
work.

Using xfreerdp for now.

[Bug 937522] Re: rdp clipboard sync doesn't work anymore.

2012-05-15 Thread Justin Solms
Hi, I use 12.04, Remmina, RDP on dell latitude laptop to Windows XP box,
MS Office 2010. The sync between copy/paste between my laptop and win-
box copy/paste now works. Thanks Jean-Louis.

However Ctrl-C, Ctr-V, Ctrl-Z yield c,v and z respectively instead of
their mapped functions. This before and after Jean-Louis' ppa update.
Also mouse wheel scrolling is hugely magnified, the steps are too big.

Thanks again.

[Bug 775790] Re: [Latitude E6510] Touchpad is completely insane

2012-03-01 Thread Justin Solms
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 550625 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/550625

Hi, I have the same erratic behaviour Dell Lat E6510 Ubuntu 11.10. The
trackpad is cool. The external mouse is cool. Pressing on the palmrest
(a test asked for by Dell service center) has no effect. Dell replaced
the palmrest assembly containing the trackpad last week. The problem
disappeared for a few days and yesterday it came back.

As I run Linux, dell asked me to go to the BIOS config screen (boot+F2)
and try the external mouse, trackpad and touch pad. Mounse was cool,
trackpad was cool, touchpad same erratic behaviour. I hope this absolves
Linux. UNLESS the Linux driver is collecting some adaptive calibration
information in real time and programming derived numbers back into some
touchpad hardware calibration register. I have no idea if this is ever
done, Its just a thought.

Good luck guys. Hope this helps
Justin
