[Bug 1953694] Re: wayland clipboard handing locks up in certain corner cases
My first search was a miss, I think this is the bug referred to here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1913775 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953694 Title: wayland clipboard handing locks up in certain corner cases To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1953694/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1953694] [NEW] wayland clipboard handing locks up in certain corner cases
Public bug reported: There are a number of cases in gtk+-3.0 3.24.30 on wayland where copy paste from/to various apps fails based on something related to type handling. I've run into this on Ubuntu 21.10, with multiple apps under the ubuntu wayland session. I have not found a matching bug in the Debian BTS, but there is a matching upstream bug and merged fix in upstream gtk+-3 from GNOME as of 20211206. [Bug 1863255] Re: Programs installed in Snap format do not detect the keyboard
I was able to fix this by changing the input method settings. When first opening it, I see a window saying: Current configuration for the input method: * Active configuration: default (normally missing) * Normal automatic choice: ibus (normally ibus or fcitx or uim) * Override rule: * Current override choice: (en_US) * Current automatic choice: ibus * Number of valid choices: 2 (normally 1) The override rule is defined in /etc/default/im-config. The configuration set by im-config is activated by re-starting X. Explicit selection is not required to enable the automatic configuration if the active one is default/auto/cjkv/missing. Available input methods: ibus xim Unless you really need them all, please make sure to install only one input method tool. I hit Okay. Then another window pops up saying: Do you explicitly select the user configuration? Select No, if you do not wish to update it(recommended) select yes, if you wish to update it. I select "yes" On the new window I see that "default" is select. (use auto mode set /etc/default/im-config) I went to that file and cat it, the result below: # Default im-config mode (see im-config(8)) OLDIFS="$IFS" IFS=':' desktop= for val in $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP; do for d in 'GNOME' 'MATE' 'UKUI' 'Unity'; do [ "$d" = "$val" ] && { desktop="$d"; break 2; } done done IFS="$OLDIFS" if [ -n "$desktop" ]; then # Start best input method unless overridden below IM_CONFIG_DEFAULT_MODE=auto else # Start best input method only if CJKV environment and not overridden below IM_CONFIG_DEFAULT_MODE=cjkv fi # Set locale dependent preferred IM over standard auto mode if [ "$desktop" != 'GNOME' ]; then IM_CONFIG_PREFERRED_RULE="zh_CN,fcitx:zh_TW,fcitx:zh_HK,fcitx:zh_SG,fcitx:ja_JP,fcitx:ko_KR,fcitx:vi_VN,fcitx" fi # User and system wide configuration is normally done via im-config program. # The above IM_CONFIG_PREFERRED_RULE sets locale dependent preferred IM # override rule. If you wish to use uim over ibus just for ja_JP, # add :ja_JP,uim at the end of the above list. # Trace commands for debug # (This may cause problem configuration file generated under console mode) #IM_CONFIG_SETMODE="-x" # Verbose output for debug (uncomment following) #IM_CONFIG_VERBOSE="true" - If i change the input method to "auto" (activate IM with @-mark for most locales) the keyboard works again on all snaps I hope the information I provided helps somehow -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863255 Title: Programs installed in Snap format do not detect the keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1863255/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1840435] Re: Systemd >=240 sets a clamp of 64MB for RLIMIT_MEMLOCK, too low for some applications.
Upon further inspection, this is actually fixed in systemd 241. To reproduce, try setting a LimitMEMLOCK higher than 64mb for the system unit user@.service, OR for any unit executed by a systemd --user process. You will see that the RLIMIT_MEMLOCK is actually clamped to 64MB. This can be observed by using prlimit -p <>. You can reproduce by trying to give a user session (via user@.service OR /etc/systemd/user.conf) a LimitMEMLOCK of greater than 64MB and then inside a systemd unit or inside a gnome-terminal (since gnome terminals in at least disco and newer are run under a systemd user-service) try to execute `jackd -d hw:0 -r 48000 -p 256 -n 3 -S`. You may need to suspend/stop pulseadio. On my system at least (USB audio only), jackd wants to memlock 82280346 bytes (82MBish) of RAM for audio buffers and the like. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1840435 Title: Systemd >=240 sets a clamp of 64MB for RLIMIT_MEMLOCK, too low for some applications. Public bug reported: Systemd >= 240 sets a clamp for RLIMIT_MEMLOCK, which is too low for some realistic applications. This clamp should probably be increased. Actually, please disregard my diagnosis above. Apparently there are enough dependencies involved that the above fix referenced in mkp's tree is best applied to a linux 4.3 or 4.4 tree. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521782 Title: 3.17..3.19 all fail with new Seagate Archive 8TB S-ATA disk (NCQ timeouts) (also fails on lts-wily-4.2.0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-wily/+bug/1521782/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

In addition, for the linux 4.x series, this fix appears to be merged somewhere in the 4.3 timeline:https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=1081230b748de8f03f37f80c53dfa89feda9b8de -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521782 Title: 3.17..3.19 all fail with new Seagate Archive 8TB S-ATA disk (NCQ timeouts) (also fails on lts-wily-4.2.0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-wily/+bug/1521782/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1521782] [NEW] 3.17..3.19 all fail with new Seagate Archive 8TB S-ATA disk (NCQ timeouts) (also fails on lts-wily-4.2.0)
Public bug reported: Dealing with an occurence of https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93581 on linux 4.2.0-18-generic from the linux-lts-wily package. I am currently testing the fix from http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/mkp/linux.git/commit/?h=bugzilla-93581&id=7c4fbd50bfece00abf529bc96ac989dd2bb83ca4 This will trigger drive failures requiring a hard powercycle on any kernel that has the aforementioned bug relating to failing to clamp transfer limits to device imposed limits as well as controller imposed limits. To reproduce: install a Seagate Archive 8TB (v2) hard drive, attempt bulk data writes. I can reproduce with a seagate Model=ST8000AS0002-1NA17Z on the AR15 firmware. Apparently this can also happen on older firmware revs of this drive. ** Affects: linux-lts-wily (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521782 Title: 3.17..3.19 all fail with new Seagate Archive 8TB S-ATA disk (NCQ timeouts) (also fails on lts-wily-4.2.0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-wily/+bug/1521782/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
