please could you include some more information on what you were running
istat on was it a disk or an image? what options were you using with
istat? also what version of ubuntu is this on? was it the same version
of tsk and autopsy that you installed manually (you mean from source i

i presume the problem is with the section around line 272 of the patched
version of kioslave/media/mediamanager/halbackend.cpp but i'm unsure of
the best way to handle it with the complication of potentially lvm
volumes also being on raw devices

Before starting the install I turned the volume down as I was listening
to music, as the partitions started to be formated the volume was turned
up, presumably by ubiquity as i didn't do it
