[Bug 1901904] Re: [SRU] virtualbox 6.1.10-dfsg-1~ubuntu1.20.04.1 ADT test failure with linux-hwe-5.8 5.8.0-25.26~20.04.1

2021-01-10 Thread Kopa Rebu
Thank you Simon for your advice.

I've manually installed the following proposed packages:

* liblzf1_3.6-2~ubuntu1.20.04.1_amd64.deb
* virtualbox_6.1.16-dfsg-6~ubuntu1.20.04.1_amd64.deb
* virtualbox-dkms_6.1.16-dfsg-6~ubuntu1.20.04.1_amd64.deb
* virtualbox-qt_6.1.16-dfsg-6~ubuntu1.20.04.1_amd64.deb

and I can confirm VirtualBox works again under kernel 5.8.0 from Ubuntu
20.04.

2021-01-09 Thread Kopa Rebu
Hi Sønke,

Thank you for your helping, I guess downloading the three packages
manually (in my case: virtualbox, virtualbox-dkms and virtualbox-qt)
would be the easiest way to get them installed.

What I don't know is if, when the fixes get from the "proposed" to the
"updates" repositories, I will have to uninstall the packages I manually
downloaded and install them again (this time from the repo) in order to
keep them managed by apt.

Regards.

2021-01-09 Thread Kopa Rebu
Hi,

I'd like to ask, is enabling "proposed-updates" the only way to get
VirtualBox working again for the current Ubuntu LTS, in less than seven
days? I mean, without having to download VirtualBox directly from
Oracle, which has its own problems (python 2 dependencies).

If that's the case, is it possible to just install those VirtualBox
packages from the "proposed" repository, and nothing else, and get back
to using the packages from the "updates" repository once they are
released there?

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1891916] Re: virtualbox-dkms 6.1.10-dfsg-1~ubuntu1.20.04.1 fails to build with kernel 5.8

2021-01-08 Thread Kopa Rebu
Hi,

Having the same problem in 20.04.1. After a normal upgrade, virtualbox-
dkms fails to build and VirtualBox stops working.

I'm only using "official" packages from Ubuntu.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Today I could install the new mutter version in my computer, and it
seems this problem got fixed.

Here the details:

[Bug 1893567] Re: Login name ellipsis/dot-dot-dot in GDM

2020-09-04 Thread Kopa Rebu
I just noticed that, inside the login screen, making text larger (using
the top-right accessibility menu option) and toggling it back to its
normal size, makes the ellipsis disappear. Only for that session, of
course.

I'm not sure, I would say no, but maybe I just didn't notice.

I've been reading bug #1892521, and someone suggests issuing two dconf
commands as a workaround. However, as this happens in GDM just prior to
being logged in, is there any way I can make some test to see if this is
the same bug?

[Bug 1893567] [NEW] Login name ellipsis/dot-dot-dot in GDM

2020-08-30 Thread Kopa Rebu
Public bug reported:

Recently, my Ubuntu 20.04.1 login screen started showing my username as
a dot-dot-dot, with a vertical scroll, despite being my user name only
four letters (i.e.: kopa). It is the only user account in the system
too.

I've attached a screenshot of the login screen where the issue can be
seen.

GDM here is version 3.34.1-1ubuntu1. I'm running Xorg (no wayland). No
changes to its configuration were made.

I can provide whatever extra information that could be useful in
diagnosing this problem.

Thank you.
