[Bug 1965927] Re: [Ubuntu 22.04] mpt3sas: Request to include latest bug fix patches

2024-03-05 Thread Ranjan Kumar
Hi,

I have tested the mpt3sas driver embodied in the above-provided test
kernel. Results are positive and no issue is found during the testing.

Below are the test cases that got executed during the testing and the
results of these test cases are positive,

1. All drives attached to the controller are Enumerated in OS
2. IO stress done
3. Created a filesystem and done some IO transitions
4. Controller reset and TMs and while IOs are running
5. driver load and unload

Thanks,
Ranjan

[Bug 1912935] Re: battery drain while notebook off / shutdown

2022-06-01 Thread Ayush Kumar
I have hp pavillion au624tx and facing the face issue, which is very
annoying. It consumes 3% of my battery each hour !!

I think, it is something related to power-profiles-daemon, is it
possible to switch cpu frequency to balance mode while it is shutting
down ?

[Bug 1971196] [NEW] Applications automatically expand and go under the dock

2022-05-02 Thread Aman Kumar
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
Release:22.04
Screen resolution -> 1366*768 (16:9)
Refresh Rate -> 60.11 Hz

I have the following settings for my dock:
Auto hide -> Off
Panel Mode -> Off
Icon Size -> 32
Show on -> Built in display
Position on screen -> right

Now, sometimes some applications, which are not active/current windows,
expand and go under the dock. If I detach them from the top and reattach
them, then again they stick to the dock's border, but may again go under
it sometime later. This behaviour is quite unpredictable, and I don't
know how someone would reproduce it. Please see the attached image for
further clarification.

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: needs-design

** Attachment added: "See that my pdf viewer's window has gone under the dock.
My dock is not in autohide mode, so this should not happen. My window should
stick to the dock's border."

@aletschius For me, running:
“sudo modprobe i2c-hid-acpi”
on the terminal worked.

To avoid running this after every log-in, just add:
“i2c-hid-acpi”
in a new line to:
“/etc/modules”

  Hi Team,

While trying to explore features/bugs in recordmydesktop application, I
have come across a situation where the Application is crashing and
showing the message "Segmentation Fault". I tried to debug the issue,

  3. Once, the 2nd CTRL+C is pressed, it will show the error "Please wait...

2022-03-05 Thread Pankaj Kumar Mondal
Thanks Paul.

I downloaded the Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS again from the official website and
made a bootable USB using rufus which actually worked with Secure Boot
turned off on UEFI and writing this comment from the fresh build.

Earlier I tried Universal USB installer and balenaEtcher but nether of
them worked.

[Bug 1948436] [NEW] Add RevID field to VPD info in EEPROM

2021-10-22 Thread Shravan Kumar Ramani
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification:

[Impact]
Currently, the VPD info stored in the EEPROM does not include a Rev ID. This
field is incremented when a PN goes through minor HW changes. Sometimes, SW
needs to differentiate the two versions of the card. Hence, this field should
be supported in the EEPROM MFG partition.

[Fix]
EC (Engineering Changes) field is used to denote the HW Revision of a PN. Add
it to the EEPROM MFG and provide a sysfs entry to access the same via
mlx-bootctl.

[Test Case]
This field is typically programmed at the manufacturing step using the bfcfg
tool which uses the write mechanism in the driver and then the MFG partition is
locked. Reading the "rev" sysfs will show the current value.

[Regression Potential]
Can be considered minimum.

[Bug 1948434] [NEW] Check if secure boot is enabled with development keys

2021-10-22 Thread Shravan Kumar Ramani
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification:

[Impact]
Currently, there is no indication from mlx-bootctl when the user reads the
lifecycle_state sysfs as to whether secure boot is enabled with development
keys or production keys. In order to make this clear to the user, add a check
in the driver.

[Fix]
Check the secure boot development mode status bit. If secure boot is enabled
with the development key, then print it to the output buffer when
lifecycle_state_show() is invoked.

[Test Case]
On a system in secure state, if it has been programmed with development keys,
then reading the lifecycle_state sysfs entry in the mlx-bootctl driver should
print a message that indicates the same.
Similarly, a secure system which has been programmed with production keys must
print the appropriate message when the lifecycle_state sysfs is read.

[Regression Potential]
Can be considered minimum.

ubuntu stuck on bootscreen and glitches and tearing is common in every
scenario and after booting to recovery boot brightness controlling have
some issue and all tends towards the ghraphics bug.

[Bug 1937072] Re: Incomplete screen redraws

2021-07-22 Thread Nishant Kumar Singh
List of things I have to Inform you what I have tested.I am Computer
Science student but new to linux so I have tested many things.

1. I have used both x-org and nvidia GPU.
After fresh installation and on reboot I got into many problem my
touchpad and brightness controller were not working and screen glitch so i
fixed my brightness and touchpad using ubuntu community posts. But glitch were
all same I have tried many solution but not solved.
so I posted ubuntu-bug.

2. I have changed setting from bios to disable NVIDIA but glitch problem not
solved.
And on using NVIDIA Driver there were not glitch performance were perfectly
fine but on restart
i got stucked on boot menu screen were blank so i ran into recovery and
change my driver to x-org intel.

3. Before bug submission I have tested around 10 popular linux distro all were
having same problem screen glitches.

4. only two distro have not occoured a display glitch problem one was
ubuntu 20.04 LTS and ubuntu budgie 21.04 but that distro causes same
touchpad and brightness controll problem that was so frustating. So I
came to conclusion that my intel driver is buggy and on reboot my device
alwaay fail to recognise touchpad and display driver.

[Bug 1933642] [NEW] mlx-bootctl: Fix exclusion issues around arm_smccc_smc

2021-06-25 Thread Shravan Kumar Ramani
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification:

[Impact]
Exclusion is being handled around arm_smccc_smc() only in the store functions.
It should be implemented in the show functions also as this call might not be
thread-safe.

[Fix]
Add mutex_lock/unlock around arm_smccc_smc calls in the show functions.

[Test Case]
Multiple simultaneous accesses to a sysfs entry exposed by the driver are
successful.

[Regression Potential]
Can be considered minimum

[Bug 1931981] [NEW] mlx-bootctl: Fix potential buffer overflow

2021-06-15 Thread Shravan Kumar Ramani
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification:

[Impact]
The sysfs store/show functions use sprintf without specifying a size which
could lead to potential buffer overflow.

[Fix]
Replace sprintf with snprintf to avoid buffer overflow. Also, remove the
redundant strlen usage since count is already available in the _store functions.

[Test Plan]
Read/write access to the EEPROM MFG fields can be tested via the sysfs entries
that are exposed by the driver. Please note that the MFG partition is locked in
order to protect the data and this could block all writes to it. In order to
enable writes to the EEPROM, the MFG Info needs to be reset via the UEFI Device
Manager.

[Regression Potential]
Can be considered minimum.

[Bug 1931843] [NEW] Update mlx-bootctl to access new fields in EEPROM MFG

2021-06-14 Thread Shravan Kumar Ramani
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification:

[Impact]
The EEPROM MFG partition on BlueField-2 has been updated to include the VPD
information for each card. In order to access these newly added fields, the
mlx-bootctl driver needs to be updated to provide an access mechanism.

[Fix]
Add support for VPD fields in the EEPROM MFG and provide access to these via
sysfs entries. The newly added sysfs entries are: sku (SKU ID), modl (Model
Number), sn (Serial Number) and uuid (UUID). And the previously added opn_str
sysfs has been renamed to opn.

[Test Case]
Though the driver provides read and write access through sysfs, the contents of
the MFG partition are written during Manufacturing and then locked in order to
protect the info. Writing to this partition will therefore require resetting
the MFG info from the UEFI Device Manager, which will unlock the partition and
allow for it to be reprogrammed.
Reading the sysfs entries will print the contents of each field. It could also
be empty if the field was not programmed earlier.

[Regression Potential]
Can be considered minimum, since the new fields have been added without
interfering with the existing fields which might already be present in the
EEPROM.
