[Bug 1241776] Re: Black rectangle instead of wallpaper
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1232726 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1232726 It could be the same bug but it looks different in my particular case, though. In my case image never shows up and desktop always stays black. [Bug 1243754] Re: Keyboard layout doesn't swith if user types too fast
Seems like ability to set any keyboard combination to switch layout were fixed, so I've reverted changes to layout switching on my system back to use indicator-keyboard and set it to CapsLock (so, it's 1 single key and there are no way to trigger bug 1241284). Now it does switch language after pressing CapsLock all the time _but_ it does so with a little lag. During this lag CapsLock acts as usual CapsLock. So, when I press any button during this period it will be displayed in opposite case (upper one usually) and only after 1-2 characters system will actually switch the language and revert change to case but it does not fix already typed characters. For some reason it's easier to spot in the Firefox when typing in the multirow text edit field like Add comment here but I was able to reproduce this issue in GEdit as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243754 Title: Keyboard layout doesn't swith if user types too fast To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-keyboard/+bug/1243754/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1243754] [NEW] Keyboard layout doesn't swith if user types too fast
Public bug reported: Right after pressing layout switch combination (e.g. Ctrl+Space... since default Sup+Space doesn't work -_-) indicator tries to show window with list of layouts and if it pops up then layout switches. However if user keeps typing right after pressing layout switch without waiting for this popup then it does not pops up (this is good) but layout remains in the same state as well and user ends up with gibberish instead of desired text (which is very bad). So, to switch layout properly user have to wait ~1 second before attempting typing again which is very annoying for those who capable to type fast without looking at the keyboard. Expected result: after pressing layout switch combination layout must switch instantly. Popup may or may not show up depending on how fast user starts to type after switching layout. ** Affects: indicator-keyboard Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: indicator-keyboard (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: indicator-keyboard Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243754 Title: Keyboard layout doesn't swith if user types too fast To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-keyboard/+bug/1243754/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1241837] Re: Layout changing from keyboard doesn't change the current layout in taskbar
I assume you have tried to trick the system and used setxkbmap or something similar to activate Alt+Shift. Right? Indicator relies on different switching mechanism and is not compatible with setxkbmap as I understand. Actually you can try to use Sup+Space or Sup+Shift+Space and indicator will 'switch' languages but actually language will not be switched. [Bug 968533] Re: Alt-tab to Firefox sends Firefox to 100% CPU; unity-panel-service to 80% CPU and hud-service to 20-80% CPU
Hi, I'm using Firefox and suffered from often occasional lockups of system due to overload of both CPU cores by 2 unity-panel-service processes and hud-service. Especially often this behavior vere triggered when I tried to type a text on any forum (and that as extremely annoying). That happened pretty much often like every hour and sometimes a few times in a row. I think I found the reason why it happened to me and finally fixed it. Apperently I had ~30 RSS feeds in the bookmars menu + Feed Sidebar addon which caused them to reload every hour (not all at once but all during each hour). So, as result structure of the menu were changed every now and then. And these changes sometimes caused Unity Panel and HUD to overload system! So, to fix this issue I had moved all my RSS feeds and dynamic bookmars into Unsorted Bookmarks section which does not shows up on the menu (it's actually there but only as a link to open a bookmarks manager). Seems like occasional freezes disappeared from that moment. It's understandable that dynamic changes in the menu could require some resources but I'm pretty much sure that hoggin 100% of 64 bit dual-core CPU during 10-30 seconds is pretty much odd thing to do. At least I don't need these RSS feeds in the bookmarks menu but what will have to do those with RSS feeds on the bookmarks toolbar? Moving such feeds into Unsorted Bookmarks will totally break their workflow. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/968533 Title: Alt-tab to Firefox sends Firefox to 100% CPU; unity-panel-service to 80% CPU and hud-service to 20-80% CPU To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/968533/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1081702] Re: Update the default wallpaper in 13.04
First of all it actually is 12.10 wallpaper rotate on 180 degree. Seriously. It is wrong in 12.10 as well and it is not due to grainy effect. Grainy effect actually supposed to hide color banding and it is not supposed to break image into small squares. That's actually happens when you over-compress image with grainy effect which is clearly bad idea. Grainy images doesn't compress well at all — grainy effect will be heavily damaged... like here. Is there source image without compression? It actually very pointless to compress it at all. Image will be unpacked in the memory anyway. [Bug 1071622] Re: [radeon] System crashes and restarts during video playback
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected quantal ** Description changed: Situation: When I trying to watch video it's often end up in a system restart. I have 3 video players in my system: mplayer2/mplayer, Totem and VLC. I never confirmed this with Totem because it's video playback very slow and I just can not resist it. However mplayer and VLC with xv output is fast on my system and that's where problems appears. This bug isn't 100% reproducible and doesn't happen on all videos but if it crashes on some specific video then it keeps crashing on it again and again. So, it is reproducible. Also it happens both in mplayer and VLC, so it isn't player-specific. In Ubuntu 12.04 I was able to set 'sdl' output and it fixed my problem (at least it didn't restart without jumping between fullscreen and window modes, it still crashed sometimes but very rarely) but in Ubuntu 12.10 it became very slow and doesn't help against this issue (system crashes). However in Ubuntu 12.10 GnomeShell works good enough for me and surprisingly this bug doesn't reproduce there. That's actually why I decided to report it on Compiz. I doubt it's problem with Unity but very likely it's problem with Compiz since GnomeShell does not use it and video playback does not cause system restart there. My system configuration: * Ubuntu 12.10 * ATI Radeon HD 3200 * Open-source graphics driver (closed-source one does not supports my videocard anymore). - Please tell me how could I help to diagnose this crash. I really like - Unity and want to keep using it but with this problem I simply can't. :( + Please tell me how could I help to diagnose this crash. [Bug 956439] Re: Wrong folder opened in Select Dirictory dialog
Well, yes, it is not a bug. Yet it's not expected behavior either. I did not choose that folder, did I? I did not clicked on it. Yet it opened. Probably I have bad example to compare with but I get used to Windows systems and there when you choosing folder it didn't try to choose one of subfolders inside of it for you if folder is expected input. Actually normally it gives completely different dialog window with folders tree instead of something like choose file dialog which expects folder as input. In such case it's just impossible to choose something unexpected. However I've seen programs which used this way too. But they never tried to choose something which I did not clicked. That's why I expect such behavior here. Right, it's different system but I clicked on different folder and that's what matters. So, I think this behavior is just wrong and have to be modified. This isn't a place where system should be too smart. Another example of this strange behavior: 1. Open Transmission. 2. Click Open button on the panel. 3. Now chose any folder with subfolders like your's user profile. 4. Click Open button. Why it get into first folder inside your profile? What will happen if you accidentally perform double-click and there will be acceptable file inside of that folder? I never asked for this. This will be even worse if I will try to save some document and accidentally will replace some other document. The only thing which may stop me will be request to overwrite file. I don't think I will be that stupid to accept it but I'm sure someone will. (There are no boundaries for stupidity and unfortunately for me I know it from my own experience :| ) Why Open button active at all while folder are chosen? It isn't expected input yet it trying to bee smart. [Bug 827931] Re: dash button isn't instantly accessible
Yep, of course. Not exactly as described because I wrote all this stuff when only half of new design were landed but it isn't much different either. Well, dash still not instantly accessible via mouse, and we still have trash can in one of the hot corners like something important. Window control buttons and system menu are important things and ok to be in the corners but trash can? Some people (including me) don't even use it. As I told before there is no way to put two high-importance controls into the same corner without accessibility problems. One of them will suffer from unability to easily click it without aiming. When autohide disabled for launcher panel and we have fullscreen window we see window header text on the top panel but this text are shifted to the left (according to window on the screen). It jumps to the proper position only when window control buttons appears (and there is no menu). Window control buttons stays separately from the window but at leas they are in the hot corner. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827931 Title: dash button isn't instantly accessible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/827931/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I still hope there will be GUI option for this but it isn't important (for me). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/818907 Title: [launcher] there is no way to disable autohide/dodge for launcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-2d/+bug/818907/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 248598]
(In reply to comment #433) As of Wine 1.3.28, Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors now has 'acid trippy' graphical glitches. This coincides with various DIB related changes. Possible regression in this bug. Unfortunately no. This DIB engine never was accepted into wine. They started to implement own DIB engine instead of this one few dev-releases ago. So, you have to open separate bug about your problem (or search for existing one). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248598 Title: Slow/erratic 2d paint/redraw events on some games To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/wine/+bug/248598/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 818905] Re: indicators on panel jumps left-right when one of them are removed or added
Ok, here it is. I've closed and started again Radio Tray. As you can see all indicators jumps instead of only indicators to the left. As I told before it would be nice to have smooth animation instead of jumps as well. ** Attachment added: jumping indicators https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-2d/+bug/818905/+attachment/2278231/+files/out-2.ogv -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/818905 Title: indicators on panel jumps left-right when one of them are removed or added To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-2d/+bug/818905/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 818905] Re: indicators on panel jumps left-right when one of them are removed or added
Checked with 3.8.16 ~bzr672 (seems like the latest one) with Radio Tray and Transmission. I still can reproduce this bug. I even tested it with and without compositing effects (used 2d-desktop-settings app to disable/enable them). I can make video if you want but I'm not sure it will be helpful at all. How could I help to find what's wrong? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/818905 Title: indicators on panel jumps left-right when one of them are removed or added To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-2d/+bug/818905/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 608132] Re: [dash] Keyboard navigation not implemented as specified
Things which doesn't work as I expect (I don't really know how they should): - To move into list of icons you have to press down twice. Actually it works fine when dash just opened but try to open Media Apps or Internet Apps and you will have to press down twice. You have to press it twice if you start typing app name and want to select one of suggested too. - I have to move cursor down at all when I typing app name and want to select second or third one. I tried usual Unity and when I started to type program name first program in the list were selected by default. So, I clearly seen which program will be started if I press enter. When I tried to chose another app with left-right keys cursor moved to that apps. I want to have same functionality in unity 2d too. There are almost no use for left-right navigation inside typed string because it's easier to press backspace few times and retype word properly then go to the right place and fix it. I thing navigation between apps is more important then ability to fix 1 wrong letter in the middle of 1-2 short words. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/608132 Title: [dash] Keyboard navigation not implemented as specified To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/608132/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 561680] Re: [Realtek ALC889A] Playback problem
It happened only once on this moment. I just restarted application to fix this problem. But why not to make it a bit more stable? I hope it's possible to add check for situation when hardware/driver does something horrible like here. It became silent for a minute and not reacted on my tries to switch channels. I closed it and it crashed in next 20 seconds. Actually I've updated my Ubuntu hour ago, so it may not be reproduced anymore. -- [Realtek ALC889A] Playback problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561680 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 285392] Re: Softreset failed (device not ready)
I have the similar problem on my home computer. I have SB600 SATA controller and see softreset failed messages during startup. My Ubuntu 9.04 x64 works fine but I have soft-RAID 5 (mdadm) and this raid start recalculation of all checksumms on each reboot. On this moment I just keep my computer online whole day. I will provide technical details later.
