(ami-af8d9ac6) and
was able to reproduce this with both linux-image-3.13.0-19-generic (bundled)
linux-image-3.13.0-21-generic (latest)
This bug was bought to our attention when a customer was testing out
Munehisa Kamata (https://launchpad.net/~kamatam) took at a look at this
from our side and he believes that
the following commit has introduced this. It is in Linux kernel 3.13 or
later, and I've confirmed that kernel 3.14 still shows the same symptom.

I also suffer from this problem. A ten-page scan of a printed document
results in a 43MB PDF.
What I found which works well is to apt-get install libtiff-tools and
then use xsane to print to TIFF, and tiff2pdf to convert to PDF. The
result is only 5MB and appears to have similar quality to the

(with data copy from old harddisk , stored on /home) . The result of
md5sum on ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso is changing for every time I run
the command:

I just saw this problem on Jaunty with Evolution 2.26.1. I don't know
