[Bug 1870926] [NEW] rygel / mx-extract freezes Ubuntu 20.04
Public bug reported: Hi, I installed Ubuntu 20.04 (Beta) on a new partition. At first, everything worked okay. Then I did my standard scripts after a fresh install like creating users, installing apps (like sambe, ...) etc. Then, after a while the whole desktops freezes. But the computer disc LED is on, so I do not reset the "crashed" thing. I notice that every once in a while (every few minutes) the computer proceeds for a split second. After many many minutes it is back to "normal" just to "freeze" again after a few seconds/minutes. I managed to open a terminal to identify the process: it is "mx- extract". This is a process of the package "rygel" which is something like UPNP Server. I wonder if this process is somehow scanning my whole 2 TB data to somehow look for files to UPnP to the net??? Anyway: i had to uninstell rygel sudo apt remove rygel to get this problem "solved" (... worked around). This is a major bug in Ubuntu 20.04 (Beta) that "freezes" the whole computer! [Bug 1465377] [NEW] Change login while other user is logged in: sometimes crashes/freezes/hangs
Public bug reported: When trying to login with a user account while another user is already logged in, Ubuntu sometimes crashes/hanges/freezes! This bug exists for many years, so for many Ubuntu versions - even in the latest LTS versions with fresh standard installation (Unity), 64 Bit. During the years of this bug, I had different computers (hardware) with different graphics cards (nVidia, AMD) different Ubuntus (32 Bit, 64 Bit, LTS, non-LTS). This bug bugs us for so many years because we have two computers (exchanged every couple of years with fresh Ubuntu installations) that each has multiple login accounts (for all family members). Every once in a while one user wants to login while another is already logged in. The login screen allowws to login while another user is logged in, so this should basically work. Other scenario is, the the logged in user simple loggs in to another user via the system menu (top right). The results are miscellanious: sometimes it works, sometimes, the graphics get distorted, sometimes, the screen just turns black (sometimes with a white cursopr line blinking), sometimes it freezes, sometimes it crashes. All in all: it's very unstable and buggy. Last messages in /var/log/kernel.log: - ... [Bug 988369] [NEW] Disk error when system time is in past
Public bug reported: $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.10 Release:11.10 The cause for an error Errors while checking disk drive for /MyPartition can also be an earlier system time! It took a long time to find this out: when booting the kernel with noplymouth and without quiet splash, I found the reason for the disk errors: Der Zeitpunkt des letzten Schreibens von SuperBlock (Wed Apr 25 13:27:46 2012, jetzt: Mon Apr 23 09:46:10 2012) liegt in der Zukunft. which is something like superblock last write time is in the future.
