For what I understand of Ubuntu themes and the Unity bar, the
application source-code (and not the packaging script) has to be altered
to comply with the requested.
SQL Developer is both a Java application and proprietary by Oracle.
Though this may be requested to Oracle, most likely it won't be

Depending on which version of SQL Developer one is building the required
JDK may vary from JDK5.0 up to JDK8.0. Furthermore, SQL Developer
versions prior to 4.0 aren't compatible with JDK7.0 or newer.

pidgin segfaults
Steve's downgrade also works in Fedora 8, except AFAIK the downgrade
must be accomplished by hand with rpm. I'm also not aware of how to keep
F8 from trying to upgrade cups, except clearing the checkbox whenever
it asks me to do so.
I'm leaving this comment for the googlers trying, like me, to
