Ok, I don't have much knowledge about what is going on, but after some
research I found that the following line in the dmesg could be related
to the issue:
[3.139131] i2c_hid i2c-ELAN0612:01: i2c-ELAN0612:01 supply vdd not
found, using dummy regulator
Also, there was a commit in the linux

The touchpad on my laptop is not working at all, i.e. moving the cursor,
clicking, scrolling doesn't work. Using Windows, it works. An external
mouse also works. I followed this description
