[Bug 2063999] Re: package libapache2-mod-php8.1 8.1.2-1ubuntu2.15 failed to install/upgrade: installed libapache2-mod-php8.1 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2024-04-29 Thread Lena Voytek
Hello, from your logs I see "Not replacing deleted config file
/etc/php/8.1/apache2/php.ini". This may have been caused by manually removing
the file or it's directory. Otherwise removing and reinstalling certain
packages may cause it. Did you previously remove the file or any packages? That
may help us solve the issue.
Thanks!

[Bug 2063157] [NEW] [FFe] Sync prometheus-mysqlrouter-exporter as new package from Debian unstable

2024-04-22 Thread Lena Voytek
Public bug reported:

Dear Release Team,

Please accept prometheus-mysqlrouter-exporter as a new universe package,
synced from Debian.

[Rationale]

prometheus-mysqlrouter-exporter provides users with the ability to
include MySQL data and statistics to their prometheus environment via
the mysql router. Likewise, the data platforms team includes this
package in projects such as charmed MySQL, and having the package in
noble would make the process more convenient.

[Regression Potential]

The package has no reverse-dependencies, will not be seeded, and will
not affect users who do not install it. So the potential for regression
would be limited to problems due to installing the package on an
existing system.

[Tests]

The package includes 2 autopkgtests to verify runtime functionality. The
first confirms that the mysqlrouter_exporter command exists. The second
verifies that mysqlrouter_exporter can connect to and extract data from
a standard MySQL router instance with a provided configuration.

+ dyndb-ldap - Verifies functionality of bind-dyndb-ldap against the
+ updated bind9 package with a basic setup. This also fails intentionally
+ prior to bind-dyndb-ldap being rebuilt against the package, as this is a
+ necessary step for bind9 updates.
+
validation - This test is provided by Debian and consistently fails both
before and after the update due to several issues. It is marked as
flaky, and does not block autopkgtest passing overall

  [Regression Potential]

Upstream has an extensive build and integration test suite. So
regressions would likely arise from a change in interaction with Ubuntu-
specific integrations. Alternatively, regressions may arise for users
due to behavior changes from the many bug fixes and minor feature
  updates.
-
- In Focal, there were major changes in how documentation is handled too,
- requiring packaging updates to handle it. So regressions could arise

[Bug 2003316] Re: [FFe] Please add mysql-shell to ubuntu

2024-04-10 Thread Lena Voytek
That is true, the latest MySQL shell also works with MySQL 8.0.x. MySQL
Shell 8.3 is an innovation release though and will lose support once 8.4
is out. Meanwhile MySQL Shell 8.0.x will be supported alongside MySQL
8.0.x.

However, if MySQL Shell 8.4 was used once it is released, then it would
work with MySQL 8.0.x and 8.4.x and will be supported long term

2024-04-09 Thread Lena Voytek
Added requested changes to an mp here:
https://code.launchpad.net/~lvoytek/+git/mysql-shell/+merge/463927

As for the hard bound to 8.0, that should be covered by the only mysql
dependency being mysql-source-8.0. I can specify that it has to be 8.0.x
if that would be better though. All future micro versions of mysql-shell
8.0 should be compatible with all future micro versions of mysql 8.0 at
least

[Bug 2003316] Re: [needs-packaging] Please add mysql-shell to ubuntu

2024-03-19 Thread Lena Voytek
** Description changed:

+ Dear Release Team,
+
+ Please accept this new package as a noble FFe.
+
+ PPA: https://launchpad.net/~lvoytek/+archive/ubuntu/mysql-shell-noble
+
+ The package is currently awaiting approval in the new queue for noble.
+ It was ready to upload prior to feature freeze, but the time_t64
+ transition caused it to break temporarily.
+
+ [Rationale]
+
+ MySQL Shell is a new package in Ubuntu for managing MySQL infrastructure
+ and setups. The inclusion of this package in universe should not affect
+ anything externally since it is a new package without reverse-
+ dependencies.
+
+ Ideally this MySQL Shell would be included in noble for the convenience
+ of building it into data platforms charms, and for users who want a more
+ complete MySQL environment.
+
+
+ [Tests]
+
+ Two DEP-8 tests are included with this package, and both are passing on all
architectures.
+ The first is managetables. It exercises the functionality of MySQL Shell's
Python and SQL modes by creating and modifying tables on a local MySQL instance.
+ The second is secretstore. It tests the additional included binary
mysql-secret-store-login-path by using all its options, storing, erasing,
getting, and showing all.
+
+
+ [Original Description]
+
  Hi,

The mysql-shell is a tool to manage complex MySQL InnoDB cluster setups:
  https://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-shell/8.0/en/

Can you please add it into Ubuntu?

  URL: https://github.com/mysql/mysql-shell
  License: GPL https://github.com/mysql/mysql-shell/blob/master/LICENSE

  Note:

Data Platform Team is using it to manage cluster in our charms:

  https://github.com/canonical/mysql-operator/
  https://github.com/canonical/mysql-k8s-operator

and Canonical security team need to provide support for 10 years here.
It will be way easier to support it as a part of standard Canonical support.

IMPORTANT: the version of mysql-shell must match mysql-server version!

  Thank you in advance!

[Bug 2055150] Re: python3-pysyncobj package stuck on jammy on primary raft re-election due to dead TCP

2024-02-27 Thread Lena Voytek
Added 0.3.12 to the data platforms ppa for jammy. Here is a PPA containing the
upstream tcp keepalive fix as a patch for mantic and jammy -
https://launchpad.net/~lvoytek/+archive/ubuntu/pysynconj-tcp-keepalive
I can at least add this to the previous versions via an SRU if it fixes the
issue.

[Bug 2003864] Re: freshclam assert failure: *** stack smashing detected ***: terminated

2023-02-13 Thread Lena Voytek
I can confirm this happens on a fresh lunar install:

# lxc launch ubuntu-daily:lunar test-freshclam
# lxc exec test-freshclam bash
# apt update && apt dist-upgrade -y
# apt install clamav
# freshclam

Mon Feb 13 17:29:24 2023 -> ClamAV update process started at Mon Feb 13

version: 26811)
Time:1.8s, ETA:0.0s [>] 57.91MiB/57.91MiB
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Likewise, running again with a cooldown still triggers it:

...
Mon Feb 13 18:28:41 2023 -> ^You are on cool-down until after: 2023-02-14
17:37:00

I couldn't find any reported issues upstream that are related to this, but it
seems most likely this is due to the merge from debian from
0.103.6+dfsg-1ubuntu1 to 0.103.7+dfsg-1ubuntu1

[Bug 1975541] [NEW] Remove charset-normalizer dependency

2022-05-23 Thread Lena Voytek
Public bug reported:

Since requests is in main and charset-normalizer is in universe, it
either needs to be removed as a dependency or promoted for requests to
work. Since charset-normalizer is only needed as a backup for chardet,
which is in main, it should be removable without any issues.

That's fair, it does seem to work when using that method. However, for
this to be an actual fix it needs to work out of the box. Since mysql
still fails to install and fallocate still fails on kinetic after
installing with zfs, it isn't ready for normal users yet

I've done some more testing with Jammy and can confirm this does not
fully fix the issue. I also tried to install mysql on kinetic now that
the fix is 'released' and it still fails. I think more needs to be done
with this to get fallocate working on zfs

[Bug 1974216] Re: package clamav-milter 0.103.6+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: installed clamav-milter package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2022-05-23 Thread Lena Voytek
Hello,

From your logs I see:

^No clamd server appears to be available
clamav-milter.service: start operation timed out. Terminating.
clamav-milter.service: Failed with result 'timeout'.

This may be due to the clamav-daemon update taking too long causing
clamd to be unavailable during clamav-milter's update.

In a terminal can you try to update again with:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

It may just need a second try. If it fails again though please let us know.
Thanks!

encountering shows up through openldap, so marking the bug under
openldap is fine. It may be due to multiple sources attempting to free a

[Bug 1971932] Re: error in rsync protocol data stream

2022-05-16 Thread Lena Voytek
I attempted to reproduce by running the command through localhost over
ssh and it succeeded using a 3GB file. This may be due to the transfer
between Ubuntu and Debian then. Here is my test case:

# lxc launch images:ubuntu/jammy test-rsync
# lxc exec test-rsync bash
# apt update && apt dist-upgrade -y
# apt install rsync openssh-server
# passwd ubuntu
# su ubuntu
# cd
# mkdir dest
# head -c 3GB /dev/urandom > test
# rsync -avz --stats -e ssh test localhost:~/dest/

@jmbaudach can you try to transfer your over 2GB file locally with ssh
to see if it fails there. That will help us narrow down the issue.

Thanks!

[Bug 1971509] Re: qemu/kvm win10 client cannot upgrade to win11

2022-05-16 Thread Lena Voytek
Hello peterzay,

The secure boot failure may indicate you don't have it installed on your
system. Try running:

sudo apt install ovmf

If it is not already installed try running your vm again.
Also it may help to enable SATA CDROM 1 in your boot options. Not having it has
caused some issues for me in the past. See the screenshot for how to enable
this.

Otherwise, if both fail, you may want to create a new vm and install
Windows 11 from there with TPM2.0, secure boot, and SATA CDROM enabled
from the start.

Hello,

The error Error: [Errno 40] Too many levels of symbolic links:
'/etc/mysql/my.cnf' is actually an error with the reporting system and
not your configuration. The error that crashed the installer is in
mysql/error.log which states:

Log file ./ib_logfile1 is of different size 0 bytes than other log files
18874368 bytes!

This is due to an error in zfs that breaks fallocate and is being worked
on here:

Hello Jeff,

From your comment it looks like you rolled back the packages correctly.
When testing did you remove the existing rules libvirt provided before
restarting libvirtd? If not they may have been left over from the
previous rules load. Otherwise it may be possible that a new version of
a different package is causing the issue.

Thanks

[Bug 1971688] Re: PHP 8.1 zip module asserting with dependency problem

2022-05-09 Thread Lena Voytek
Hello Owen,

Thank you for providing this report and additional information on
building from source. From the warning you provided it states that it
cannot find /usr/lib/php/20210902/zip.so.so, while the file that
actually exists in the directory is /usr/lib/php/20210902/zip.so. The
extra .so extension being looked for may be causing the problem.

When you built the zip module from source, did it provide the file
zip.so or zip.so.so?

Thanks!

You will also need secure boot. To do this you will have to edit the xml
for your vm.

Start by going to Edit > Preferences > General in the main virt-manager
window. Select Enable XML editing.

Now in your vm settings window, select Overview then the XML tab. in the
section add the following two lines:

/usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE_4M.secboot.fd
/var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/win10-2_VARS.fd

and in the section add the following line:

Click Apply then secure boot should be good to go

Hello,

Since Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0 to run, you will need a TPM emulator.
To do this, make sure you have swtpm installed. In the terminal run:

sudo apt install swtpm swtpm-tools

With those installed, enter your virtual machine settings, click Add
Hardware, select TPM, then choose:

Type: emulated
Model: TIS
Version: 2.0

The update fixed my lxd containers using the same method from above on

Are there additional steps, other than just apt updating and upgrading,
that I or other users will have to take to make sure it works on the
base system once the fix is released?

Hello David,

I tried to reproduce the crash you were having by upgrading from 21.10
to 22.04 then adding keys followed by slogin and didn't receive an
error. I'm using a Raspberry Pi 4GB too. Is the command still failing
for you even though the diagnostic dump doesn't show up anymore? If so
you may still be able to report the error.

Check if there is a slogin crash in /var/crash/ with the extension
.crash. If it exists you can send the issue with:

ubuntu-bug /var/crash/[crash name].crash

2022-04-18 Thread Lena Voytek
** Summary changed:

- fallocate produces zero-size files on zfs in Jammy
+ fallocate with FALLOC_FL_ZERO_RANGE produces zero-size files on zfs in Jammy

** Description changed:

- I came across this error when testing various mysql setups in an LXD
- container and managed to reproduce it consistently. I'm unable to
- reproduce on Ubuntu desktop or server though since the prerequisites are
- probably handled properly there.
+ [Summary]
+
+ When running Jammy on zfs or LXD with a zfs pool on a Jammy host,
+ fallocate creates a zero-sized file.
+
+ The issue was originally found when installing mysql on LXD, where
+ fallocate would create a zero-sized ib_logfile1 file. The original
+ information in this bug is based on that.
+
+ [Steps to Reproduce]
+
+ touch foo.img
+ fallocate -z -l 10M foo.img
+ ls -la foo.img
+
+ On a non-zfs Jammy system this will show something like:
+ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10M ...
+
+ while on zfs it will show:
+ -rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 0 ...
+
+ [Original Description]
+ I came across this error when testing various mysql setups in an LXD
container and managed to reproduce it consistently. I'm unable to reproduce on

[Bug 1969247] Re: mysql-server install crashes in LXD container on Jammy host

2022-04-18 Thread Lena Voytek
mysql's install also fails with the same error when using a native Jammy
Desktop with zfs. I can also confirm fallocate fails on this system as
it produces zero-size files on its own.

I'm going to mark mysql invalid here and set this up as a kernel bug for
zfs

[Bug 1969247] Re: mysql-server install crashes in LXD container on Jammy host

2022-04-18 Thread Lena Voytek
This seems to be due to a zfs regression when running fallocate, causing
mysql's initialization to produce an ib_logfile1 of size 0:

1893 fallocate(3, FALLOC_FL_ZERO_RANGE, 0, 50331648) = 0

[Bug 1969247] Re: mysql-server install crashes in LXD container

2022-04-15 Thread Lena Voytek
This affects Focal, Impish, and Jammy (not Bionic).
I figured out that the error only shows up on my laptop (on Jammy) though.
Meanwhile my Desktop (on Focal) installs it successfully for all.
Both systems are running the same LXD snap version 5.0.0-e478009
(latest/stable).

[Bug 1968187] Re: apparmor denial when using swtpm

2022-04-11 Thread Lena Voytek
After looking further into the call structure it seems that the denials
are happening through the call structure of libvirt -> qemu ->
qemu_tpm.c -> swtpm and swtpm_setup, where the two programs are
borrowing the apparmor profile libvirt-[UUID] rather than using
usr.bin.swtpm.

It seems like the most proper way to fix this would be to make sure
swtpm uses its own profile by adding a Discrete Profile execute mode px
line to the libvirt profile, such as some variation of:

/usr/bin/swtpm px
or
/usr/bin/swtpm px -> swtpm

This fixes swtpm's apparmor issues but causes a new error on start from
virt-aa-helper, which fails to parse this and the following is shown:

Error starting domain: internal error: cannot load AppArmor profile
'libvirt-[UUID]'
