[Bug 2055012] Re: When I upgraded from 22.04 to 24.04, DNS resolution went wrong.

2024-04-30 Thread Leo Didier
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2054761 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054761

Same for me, the upgrade went horribly also wrong...

But i could get everything on track again from the terminal with a complete
update and upgrade the missing packages.
Did not have to do install systemd-resolved as i already had the latest
installed.

Then in Ubuntu 24 desktop i had troubles with long minutes hanging on a grey
screen, firefox freeze at start up and other desktop freezes..
A snap store refresh did the job with 'sudo snap refresh snap-store' and
everything is working fine now !

Tested on the machines with the said fingerprint hardware using the
following procedures:

1. Enable the -proposed channel
2. Install 1:1.94.3+tod1-0ubuntu2~22.04.07 version of libfprint-2-2, which is
the one in the -proposed channel
3. Reboot the machine
4. After the reboot, confirm that fingerprint login option appears in the user
tab of the setting menu
5. Confirm that fingerprint could be registered.
6. Log out from the user, and confirm that it could be logged in with the
registered fingerprint

[Bug 2049569] Re: Enable the mic-mute led on Dell MTL laptops

2024-03-19 Thread Leo Lin
The firmware-sof-signed in -proposed doesn't seem to fix the LEDs at
least on one HP platform. Reading the file from /sys/class/sound/ctl-
led/mic/card0/list shows nothing.

The md5sum of sof-ace-tplg/sof-hda-generic-2ch.tplg also doesn't match
the one in upstream v2023.12.1 release.

# From upstream release
$ md5sum sof-bin-2023.12.1/sof-ace-tplg/sof-hda-generic-2ch.tplg

sof-bin-2023.12.1/sof-ace-tplg/sof-hda-generic-2ch.tplg

# From 2.0-1ubuntu4.6
$ md5sum sof-ace-tplg/sof-hda-generic-2ch.tplg

[Bug 2058315] [NEW] Mute/mic-mute LEDs not functioning on a HP platform

2024-03-18 Thread Leo Lin
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
LEDs on both mute and mic-mute key are not working on a HP platform.

[Fix]
The quirk in the commit b2d6a1fd0e3e513f5ebfc152d6fedae093df8e21 (ALSA:
hda/realtek: Add quirks for HP G11 Laptops using CS35L56) in linux-next can
make it work.

[Test]
1. Install the v2023.12.1 of upstream sof-bin
(https://github.com/thesofproject/sof-bin/releases/tag/v2023.12.1)
2. Then after the quirk is applied, both the mute and mic-mute LEDs on the keys
should toggle accordingly on key presses.

[Where problems could occur]
If the subsystem ID is somehow reused by vendor for newer hardware, the newer
hardware may not be functioning correctly. Also it requires correct tplg files
to work.

[Bug 2052005] Re: Validate connection interval to pass Bluetooth Test Suite

2024-03-11 Thread Leo Lin
Verified that the GAP/CONN/CPUP/BV-05-C could pass on 5.15.0-102.112
kernel using the following procedure:

1. On PTS, switch to the LE-only dongle
2. On the IUT, run bluetoothctl
3. On PTS, start the test case.
4. On the IUT, in the bluetoothctl shell, start scanning by entering "scan on".
5. When PTS asks for making LE connection, initiate the connection from
bluetoothctl shell by "connect "
6. PTS would then ask IUT to initiate disconnection. On the bluetoothctl, enter
"disconnect "

I've installed Ubuntu 22.04 on the ThinkPad E480. Suspend functions ok

not enter the suspend mode (the screen gets blank, but the machine is
still running and the ThinPad led is on, and there is no way out... no
response from keyboard or mouse... the only solution is to switch off
manually hitting and holding the power button), other times the machine
does not wakes up from suspension mode.

While installing 12.04 (alternate) on an Asus eee900 the installation fails
with a message that GRUB could not be written to the MBR.
Tried both manual and guided partitioning to no avail.
Will try the 'normal' package tonight, but this is quite annoying.

[Bug 1952542] Re: systemd randomly crashes

2021-12-10 Thread Leo Wandersleb
Sorry for bumping the issue but how can I help to help resolve the issue
as I'm close to abandoning the system as is, having to reboot it about
15 times per day.

I would also offer $300 in bitcoin for a substantial contribution
(workaround, insight that helps fix the issue, help to further debug to
get it fixed eventually) if it helps resolve my issue by Christmas.

** Description changed:

When screensaver is on, I often can't wake the system back up again.
Screen comes, up, clock shows but frozen and login does nothing.

  I have a file `/var/crash/_usr_lib_systemd_systemd.0.crash` from around
the incident time, so I guess it's systemd itself that's crashing.

[Bug 1950252] [NEW] unexpected reboot caused by [Hardware Error]

2021-11-08 Thread Wayne Leo
Public bug reported:

Hardware Info:
1th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900K
MSI MEG Z590 ACE
GeForce RTX 3090

Operating System Version:
Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS

intel-microcode version:
3.20210608.0ubuntu0.20.04.1

Symptom:
Unexpected random reboots often happen during periods that no heavy
workloads are running. I expected my PC to work as a server 24/7. So, I
installed Ubuntu 20 for my PC on Oct 8th, and before Oct 30th, I did not
encounter this issue. I can't remember whether I did an upgrade and can't find
apt logs back then.

I've tested memory with memtester, and it's all OK.

After I did some research, I suspect it relates to the cpu microcode.

In `dmesg` log I found those errors:

[Bug 1948588] [NEW] [needs-packaging] makedeb and makedeb-makepkg

2021-10-24 Thread Leo Puvilland
Public bug reported:

Request for packages makedeb and makedeb-makepkg (its dependency) to be
added to the Ubuntu repos.

https://makedeb.hunterwittenborn.com/home/introduction/

makedeb is a packaging tool for Debian-based systems that aims to be
simple and easy to use, whilst still remaining just as powerful as
standard Debian tooling.

I am already in progress of getting these packages on Launchpad, so I'm
working on it :)

[Bug 1934882] Re: package has invalid Support Legacyheader

So the Support Legacyheader was a red herring.

Debugging the ubuntu-drivers python showed that
ubuntu-drivers install

when run manually this gives the output:

So perhaps something did get cleaned up correctly in the upgrade?
Searching for this error led me to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-
drivers-390/+bug/1768050 where the suggested fix for running dpkg-divert
--remove, resulted in ubuntu-drivers install running successfully.

Not sure why this output didn't show up when I initially call ubuntu-
drivers from the cmd line. Perhaps because the GUI had already called it
and now apt was unhappy there was no output, just a non-zero return
code?

[Bug 1934882] [NEW] package has invalid Support Legacyheader

Running: ubuntu-drivers install nvidia-driver-460

No drivers found for installation.

I've tried:
apt-get remove --purge "nvidia*" libnvidia-ifr1-460
and then re-doing the ubuntu-drivers commands. But that doesn't make a
difference.

I don't have idea what package can be the responsible of the problem,
but I can say that Gedit, Nautilus, Ubuntu Software or the terminal have
the problem, but Libreoffice, Telegram or Thunderbird works well.

2021-02-09 Thread leo

On lenevo thinkpad extme gen 2 with nvidia graphics and ubuntu 20.04.2

All the menus text and the logging screen text is messed up and shows "whit
noise" instead of the letters. The letters disapeard and the screen is left
complitly unusable. I can not see where to click anymore because the "logout"
"login" and "reboot" is also messed up. Clearly a big big prolem to me and my
girlfriend on a 2600 euros machine.
The problems appears on it's own after clean install so so problem is not on my
ide. I did not mess anything up, because I just did an easy install.

[Bug 1905717] [NEW] HDMI audio unusable after update to 13.99.1-1ubuntu3.8

2020-11-26 Thread Leo Alekseyev
Public bug reported:

After a recent update of pulseaudio and related packages to
13.99.1-1ubuntu3.8 on Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, audio via HDMI output became
crackling and distorted, rendering my monitor speakers unusable. This is
particularly frustrating because I cannot seem to roll back the update
without uninstalling a good chunk of gnome(!)

[Bug 1901491] [NEW] Created devices are not available

2020-10-26 Thread Leo
Public bug reported:

After the upgrade from 0.12.3-1 to 0.12.3-1ubuntu0.1 devices created using
v4l2loopback are no longer available for use in applications (e.g. MS Teams and
Zoom). With version 0.12.3-1 the devices would show up, e.g.
modprobe v4l2loopback video nr=2 card label="test"
would cause the new device to show up in those UIs as "test". With version
0.12.3-1ubuntu0.1 device "test" is no longer shown.
Downgrading to 0.12.3-1 fixes the problem.

[Bug 1890595] [NEW] Okular does not open file in tab but window

2020-08-06 Thread Leo Zeitler
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS

Okular Snap Version 1.10.0

Upon opening a pdf in Okular, then opening another PDF from Zotero, the
expected behavior is that Okular opens the new document in a new tab
(when enabled in settings). For me, this is not happing. Instead, Okular
opens each PDF in a new window. Could also be a Zotero issue, not sure.

[Bug 1890418] Re: i915 does not expose vendor-specific extended HDMI timings/modes

2020-08-05 Thread Leo Ramakersuca
Regarding HDMI version the spec which I gave a link to claims;
True Resolution : 3840x2160 at 60Hz (DisplayPort) ,3840x2160 at 30Hz (HDMI)

Some while ago I was researching this issue and found a specification
page on the ASUS website which showed two formats for declaring the
frame rate, one extended only to the 1920 value while the other went to
the full 4K. From this I deduced that perhaps windows uses one report
format while linux uses the other. I cannot locate that page now, it may
have been taken down.

[Bug 1890418] Re: i915 does not expose vendor-specific extended HDMI timings/modes

2020-08-05 Thread Leo Ramakersuca
Thanks for your work

I just bought and tried a new 4K hdmi cable, with no change. I noticed
that the monitor has TWO inputs, HDMI and HDMI/MHL (it had been plugged
into HDMI) but switching this to HDMI/MHL gave no result.

I am using MATE but the same issue occurs in several flavours of Ubuntu
that I have tried.

I dont know how to try the new kernel at
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.8/ as you requested. If I
attempt to ask Gdebi to load the
linux-image-unsigned-5.8.0-050800-generic_5.8.0-050800.202008022230_amd64.deb
package from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.8/amd64/ it
fails with unmet dependencies.
