[Bug 1751954] [NEW] disabling wi-fi in power management options disables the wi-fi

2018-02-26 Thread Leo Arias
Public bug reported:

In the gnome-control-center, in the power section, there is a checkbox
that says:

Wi-Fi
Turn off Wi-Fi to save power

I have it checked, so after a few minutes without using my computer, the
wi-fi is disabled. I want to keep my wi-fi working, so I unchecked this
box, but it disables my wi-fi immediately.

So, it's obviously wrong to disable the wi-fi when I click that
checkbox. And I don't seem to have a way to keep my wi-fi enabled.

[Bug 1745488] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.39.2

2018-02-26 Thread Leo Arias
The latest snapcraft released to the stable distros was 2.35. So, in
order to accept this update, the following tests need to be executed:

For 2.36:

snapcraft.yaml:

Build a snap with $SNAPCRAFT_ARCH_TRIPLET in the snapcraft.yaml.

Store:

Run snapcraft push-metadata.

Exploratory:

Build and run python snaps.
Build snaps with $SNAPCRAFT_CONTAINER_BUILDS=local snapcraft, and run
different clean commands.

For 2.37:

Store:

Run the export-login command.
Try to register a reserved name.
Run snapcraft list-keys with no keys.
Run the push metadata manual tests.

Exploratory:

Run snapcraft help with multiple options.
Build and run classic snaps.
Run snapcraft commands that will return errors.

For 2.38:

Metadata:

Build snaps with adopt-info and parse-info in the snapcraft.yaml,
and an appstream metadata file.

Exploratory:

Build snaps in docker.
Build snaps with build-snaps in the snapcraft.yaml, with valid and invalid
values.
Build snaps with $SNAPCRAFT_CONTAINER_BUILDS=local snapcraft.
Build snaps with advanced grammar in sources.

For 2.39:

Commands:

Run snapcraft help.

Metadata:

Build snaps with adopt-info and parse-info in the snapcraft.yaml,
and an appstream metadata file that provides icon and desktop files.

Store:

Run snapcraft export-login with expiration.
Run snapcraft push.
Push a snap without architectures.

Containers:

Build snaps in docker using the beta and edge images.

Exploratory:

Build classic snaps.
Build snaps without UTF-8 locale.
Build snaps with $SNAPCRAFT_CONTAINER_BUILDS=local snapcraft.
Build snaps with socket activation.
Try to build snaps with invalid sources.

I ran the tests in xenial, zesty and artful, and have been doing exploratory

I didn't find any blocker bugs, so this has the QA green light.

We have a call for testing in progress, and I'll be on holidays next
week, so I'll leave sergiusens to mark this a verified when he considers
the right time to close the call.

Before this update lands in the -update pockets, the following tests
need to pass:

Container builds:

 * Clean the project without arguments:

 `SNAPCRAFT_CONTAINER_BUILDS=1 snapcraft clean`

Plugins:

 * Build a snap with the catkin plugin.

Errors:

 * Try to build a snap without mksquashfs.

Exploratory:

 * Use build-snaps to build snaps.
 * Build the same snap multiple times, to check the caching.
 * Build snaps with the nodejs plugin and yarn.
 * Build snaps with SNAPCRAFT_CONTAINER_BUILDS=1 using local and remote LXD.
 * Build snaps with SNAPCRAFT_BUILD_INFO=1, check the manifest.yaml in the
prime/snap directory.
 * Try to get as many errors as possible, check the error messages or the trace
returned when running with `--debug`.
 * Build snaps with grammar in build and stage packages.

[Bug 1590807] Re: Snapcraft doesn't store build logs

Thanks seb. I'm marking this as Triaged.

We improved a little the stuff we print to the terminal. Now we need to
improve logging and also the way we call subprocess when we capture the
output.

This will require touching pieces of code everywhere, but now that we
are using a nicer cli library it doesn't sound like a terrible job.

In order to accept this release in the -updates pockets of xenial,
yakkety and zesty, the following tests must be executed:

Plugins:

 * Build a Qt snap using the default version.
 * Build go snaps for different architectures using --target-arch.

Exploratory:

 * Build snaps with build-packages.
 * Build classic snaps.
 * Run all the snapcraft commands in different scenarios including failure
conditions.

And the tests mentioned by Brian in comment #7.

[Bug 1675391] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.28

2017-03-23 Thread Leo Arias
The following tests have to be run before this update is accepted into
xenial and yakkety updates:

plugins:
  * Build a snap using a python staged on the same snap.
  * Build the pc kernel snap.
https://github.com/snapcore/snapcraft/blob/master/manual-tests.md#test-the-pc-kernel
* Check that an image generated with this kernel works in kvm.
  * Build the dragonboard snap.
https://github.com/snapcore/snapcraft/blob/master/manual-tests.md#test-the-dragonboard-410c-kernel
* Check that an image generated with this kernel works in a dragonboard.
  * Build and run the ROS demo snaps.

Packages:
  * Build a snap with stage packages:
* Check that the stage packages are saved in parts/$part_name/pull/state
  * Build a snap with a specific version on stage packages.
  * Build a snap with a specific version on build packages.

store:
  * Push a snap, modify it, and push again.
* Check that the second push is faster, just pushing the delta.
  * Run the `history`, `list-revision` and `revisions` commands.

exploratory:
  * Build snaps with the `source-checksum` keyword.
  * Build snaps with python.
  * Build snaps with cleanbuild, using lxd from a deb and a snap.
  * Build snaps with the snapcraft snap: `sudo snap install snapcraft --edge`.
  * Build and run classic snaps.

[Bug 1659946] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.26

2017-02-01 Thread Leo Arias
I've run the tests mentioned in the comment #1 in xenial and yakkety,
after upgrading the snapcraft packages from 2.25 to 2.26.

I found no blocker bugs, so I'm going to mark this bug as verified.

Thanks Steve!

[Bug 892293] Re: Jenkins is not reporting the skipped tests

Before this can land into xenial and yakkety, the following tests need
to be executed:

sources:
  - build a snap with the shutter tar.gz as a source, from bug #1611776.
  - try to build snaps without the source commands: bzr, git, hg.
  - build a snap with an ftp source.
  - build the snap from bug #1644350.

plugins:
  - build a kernel snap, check that it doesn't ask for login.
  - build a nodejs snap that requires npm commands, like Augur.
  - build a cmake snap with some options from the make plugin.

meta:
  - build a snap with icon in snapcraft.yaml.

build-packages:
  - call apt auto-remove after building snaps with build-packages.

store:
  - push snaps with DELTA_UPLOADS_EXPERIMENTAL.
  - try to register a snap without the agreement signed.
  - try to register a name already register by the same user.

parser:
  - parse a part that depends on other remote part.

exploratory:
  - with TERM=dumb.
  - build various snaps with different plugins, running all the life cycle
commands.
  - try the integration with travis in various projects.

I tested this in xenial and yakkety:

Upgrade the packages to 2.22.1.

Then I checked that the reverted commit from 2.22 was actually removed

check that the features already tested for 2.22 were still working.

I'm marking this as verified.

Marking verification failed because one change of syntax in 2.22 would
prevent a new feature that we want to implement for multiarch. 2.22.1 is
coming with that change reverted, and a following version will get it

[Bug 1640585] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.22

2016-11-10 Thread Leo Arias
I tested this in xenial and yakkety:
Install snapcraft, snapcraft-examples and snapcraft parser. Enable -proposed.
Upgrade the packages to 2.22.

Then I ran the following tests:

Build a gadget snap.
Run snapcraft --version.
Exploratory on store commands.
Build snaps and check that the cache is stored in $HOME/.cache/snapcraft/apt/
Build snaps again and check that the cache is used.
Build snaps with packages of a specific architecture.
Build a catkin snap and check that gcc and g++ are installed in the snap.
Build a go and check that the build tags are called for all the packages
installed.
Build a snap using an rpm source.

I'm marking this as verified. Thanks pitti!

[Bug 1638513] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.21

2016-11-03 Thread Leo Arias
I tested this in xenial and yakkety:

Install snapcraft, snapcraft-examples and snapcraft-parser. Enabled
-proposed. Upgrade the three packages to 2.21.

Then I did a few tests:

 - Exploratory on the new bash completion features.
 - Exploratory building snaps with the python plugin.
 - Build snaps using the new source-commit attribute.
 - Build the next cloud snap.

You will notice that the testing for this release is shorter than usual.
That's because this is a smaller release then usual.

I found no problems on this update, so I'm going to mark it as verified.

Thanks Steve!

[Bug 1636924] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.20

2016-10-28 Thread Leo Arias
I tested this release, both in xenial and yakkety.
I installed snapcraft, snapcraft-examples and snapcraft-parser. Then enabled
-proposed and upgraded the snaps to 2.20.

Then I ran the following tests:

Plugins:

Try to build a snap using an invalid ros distro.
Build a snap that uses the waf plugin.
Build a snap using the python plugin and bzr.
Exploratory testing on the python plugin.

Store:

Create a key.
Use sign-build with multiple keys.
Review the history of a snap.
Review the status of a snap.
Close a channel.
Exploratory testing on gated and validate.

I only find non-blocker issues related to the UX when interacting with the
store:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1637625
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1637623

https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1636977
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1636979

These issues will be solved in following snapcraft releases.

I'm going to mark this as verified.

Thanks Andy and Brian!

That worked fine until I upgraded to zesty. Now I can no longer use the

[Bug 1630040] Re: [SRU] update to 1.0.43

2016-10-10 Thread Leo Arias
For all the bugs of the linked milestones that didn't have the
verification-done tag I ran the specified tests in a xenial clean kvm
after the upgrade to snap-confine 1.0.43. I couldn't run the test for
snaps on lxc nor the one for nvidia. I left comments on those, but they
shouldn't block this emergency release. So, I'm going to mark this as
verified.

[Bug 1630789] Re: normal users can't run snaps inside of LXD containers

2016-10-10 Thread Leo Arias
This can't really be tested yet for snap-confine in xenial proposed
because the required packages are not yet in xenial. I tried bringing
packages from yakkety and yakkety-proposed, but that didn't work, it was
just a long shot. It even seems there is still a PR in flight for snapd.

I checked the individual pull requests for snap-confine and they have
been thoroughly reviewed, and after an hour running different tests I
haven't found any regression. Because we have an emergency and need to
speed up the landing of snap-confine, I'm going to mark this as
verified. However once all the other pieces are in place in xenial, this
needs some exploratory for snaps inside lxc.

Thanks Andy.

[Bug 1629472] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.19

2016-10-03 Thread Leo Arias
I tested the SRU in a clean and up-to-date kvm xenial machine. I
installed snapcraft, snapcraft-examples and snapcraft-parser, enabled
-proposed and upgraded them to 2.19.

I ran the following tests:

Snaps:
✓ Build the plainbox provider snap.
✓ Build a snap that requires npm commands.
✓ Build a snap with SNAPCRAFT_PART_INSTALL.
✓ Build a ROS snap in kinetic.

Errors:
✓ Try to build a snap with errors, check the yaml path.

Store:
✓ Run exploratory test on validate, gated and sign-build.

Two minor bugs found in catkin:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1629955
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1629957

Three minor bugs found in the new store commands:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1629966
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1629984
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1629991

I don't consider any of those bug high priory nor blockers.

[Bug 1626224] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.18

2016-09-26 Thread Leo Arias
I have tested this release in a clean and up-to-date xenial vm:

Installed snapcraft, snapcraft-examples and snapcraft-parser, enabled
-proposed, and upgraded them to 2.18.1.

I then ran the following tests:

Plugins:

✓ Build a snap with a python constraints file from a URL.
✓ Build a snap with a python requirements file from a URL.
✓ Build snaps with the deprecated python2 and python3 plugins.
✓ Build a snap using the autotools plugin, with a bootstrap directory in the
source.
✓ Build a snap with the nodejs plugin and dev-deps.
✓ Build a snap with the make plugin and artifacts in a dir.
✓ Build the dogpile.cache snap with python2.

Sources:

✓ Build a snap using a deb file as the source.
✗ Build snaps with and without source-depth:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1627772

Lifecycle:

✓ Run an exploratory test on the various lifecycle commands.

Cleanbuild:

✓ Build a snap using cleanbuild.

Wiki:

✓ Build a snap that depends on a remote part with filesets.
✓ Run snapcraft search, check that the results are ordered.
✗ Build the plainbox-provider-snappy snap:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1626587
✓ Try to parse with missing hg, git, bzr and svn.

Store:

✓ Run snapcraft login.

Errors:

✓ Try to build a snap with an error in the yaml, check that the right
line for the error is reported.

There is one bug with the source-depth value, that won't affect any
existing snapcraft files because it's a new property. The default value
works. And there is another still affecting the plainbox snap. This
release makes it a little better, though, and it's not a regression
introduced in this version. So, we will proceed to land 2.18.1 and fix
those errors in 2.19.

Thanks Steve and Chris. I'm marking this as verified. Please, continue
with the landing to the archive.

[Bug 1305402] Re: libvirt fails to start VirtualMachines

2016-09-22 Thread Leo Arias
This has just happened to me. For some reason, all my machines had
machine='pc-i440fx-wily'.
After an update in yakkety, they stopped working.

$ qemu-system-x86_64 -enable-kvm -machine help | grep wily

So I updated the machine xml to a supported machine as Charles
suggested, and they work again.

Here's the note for my future self about how to do the update:

$ virsh dumpxml $machine-name > /tmp/machine.xml
Edit the xml.
$ virsh define /tmp/machine.xml

[Bug 1626121] Re: snap-confine causes Segmentation fault

2016-09-21 Thread Leo Arias
Added snapcraft as affected because this makes the autopkgtests fail, so
it blocks the release to yakkety.

** Also affects: snapcraft
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New
