[Bug 1492764] Re: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0)
Update: I spoke too soon. After another reboot I just get endless i915 crashes and X dialogs telling me I'm in low graphics mode - so only text mode for me. Various attempts to purge and reinstall Nvidia/Bumblebee failed, probably because this seems to be an Intel problem. I'm attempting to upgrade to 16.04 in the hopes that a 4.4 kernel will work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1492764 Title: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1492764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1492764] Re: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0)
After upgrading my Asus laptop to Ubuntu 15.10 I got dumped to black screen with a flashing cursor. To fix this I had to: 1. run "sudo dpkg --configure -a" to finish installing packages that were already downloaded 2. run "sudo apt-get install --reinstall resolvconf" - because apt told me resolvconf was broken 3. run "sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm" (and pick lightdm again) and then reboot (to get a graphical desktop back) 4. edit /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf and change KernelDriver, LibraryPath and XorgModulePath to point to the newer NVidia driver Ubuntu had installed, then reboot (to get bumblebee's primusrun command working again) Not the greatest upgrade experience but its all working now. Of course don't do the above unless you read a little and know what these do, or have reason to believe that these will solve problems you actually have. I'm sharing the list of things in case they give you some hints to solving similar problems. I have a similar card ( GK208M [GeForce GT 740M] and a similar problem. I could not install the proprietary driver automatically. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 Gnome. [Bug 994104] Re: Wireless performance issues on kernel 3.4.0-1-generic (iwlwifi)
This bug makes daily work a real pain - my wifi is constantly going down and I have to press the hardware kill switch twice to get it back up again. As a work-around, based on the upstream report, I have been running a script to force the adapter into (slower) g-mode: sudo rmmod iwlwifi sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=1 This script sometimes causes a complete kernel crash, so I have not made it run by default, though it has not caused a crash so far when I run it manually soon after bootup. Perhaps it causes the crash after the adapter has gone through one of its failure cycles? After the adapter is in g mode I do still get wifi disconnects but they are in the order of less than once a day, so I can at least get some work done. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994104 Title: Wireless performance issues on kernel 3.4.0-1-generic (iwlwifi) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/994104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Timo, your -90 kernel has fully solved the lock up caused by the glxgears script above. I want to confirm that the kernel in comment #38 solved the almost daily lock ups for me too (sorry to "me too"). [Bug 203819] Re: Broadcom bcm4312 wireless not detected at all
Wooh! I got the wireless working! I used Kernel 2.6.32-999-generic and had to download firmware. Here are the steps: 1. First connect the computer to the Internet with a cable (this is the easiest way) 2. Go here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds 3. You will likely be pointed here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current 4. Get the current kernel (I used http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/linux-image-2.6.32-999-generic_2.6.32-999.200910141000_i386.deb) 5. Install it: sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.32-999-generic_2.6.32-999.200910141000_i386.deb Now reboot and after startup, if you run dmesg you'll probably see "Cannot find firmware file b43/ucode15.fw" 1. The message will point you to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#device_firmware 2. Scroll down to "You are using the b43 driver with an LP-PHY card (e.g. BCM4312)" 3. Before you follow the instructions you'll need git: sudo apt-get install git-core 4. Now become root: sudo -i 5. Paste in the two sets of instructions - they will "git clone" the fwcutter and then download and install the firmware After that, reboot and you should be all set! ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing ** Tags removed: needs-kernel-logs -- Broadcom bcm4312 wireless not detected at all https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203819 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 297842] Re: Thunar segfaults on powerpc (rebuild needed)
XfDesktop crashed reliably for me when I right-clicked on an FLV file on my desktop. Perhaps it was trying to display properties that don't exist for all desktop icons, such as the "open with" section at the top. You should be able to duplicate that behaviour like so: 1. go to a terminal 2. killall xfdesktop 3. xfdesktop & 4. touch ~/Desktop/tmp.flv 5. right-click on the flv file Unfortunately I can't test this anymore because I installed Lenny, which doesn't have this problem. [Bug 301278] [NEW] All SDL apps crash in DirectFB on PPC
Public bug reported: This problem's first symptom is that you are completely logged out of your X session as soon as you try to run something like Tuxpaint on PPC. I have seen it on Fedora, Debian Lenny and Intrepid. Etch worked fine, probably because directfb was version 0.9. I have stepped though Tuxpaint until an SDL init: SDL_Init(1048625) (Those flags are: SDL_INIT_VIDEO | SDL_INIT_TIMER | SDL_INIT_AUDO | SDL_INIT_NOPARACHUTE) I then stepped through the SDL code until here: DirectFB_CreateDevice (devindex=) at ../../src/video/directfb/SDL_DirectFB_video.c:123 DirectFB_CreateDevice crashes. It sometimes prints the error below, but mostly it doesn't print anything, it just terminates the session. Since it looks permissions related I have run everything as root but that doesn't help. -8x-8x---8x-8x---8x ===| DirectFB 1.0.1 |=== (c) 2001-2007 The DirectFB Organization (directfb.org) (c) 2000-2004 Convergence (integrated media) GmbH (*) DirectFB/Core: Single Application Core. [Bug 297842] Re: Thunar segfaults on powerpc (rebuild needed)
** Description changed: Thunar segfaults immediately when run on a G4 (PowerPC) Mac Mini. xfdesktop crashes almost as quickly (I had to click on a desktop icon). Here's my adventures with this bug: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=977120 I did an "apt-get source" in order to debug the problem but found that after I'd rebuilt Thunar with dpkg-buildpackage, it worked fine. I then rebuilt xfdesktop4 with the same results. I eventually built working packages for everyone: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6163764&postcount=21 ...but it would be better if these packages were just rebuilt and distributed via "apt-get upgrade". I have tried comparing the working and non-working binaries and it looks to me like there might have been an incorrect version of a library when they were built - possibly libglib. [Bug 297842] [NEW] Thunar segfaults on powerpc
Public bug reported: Thunar segfaults immediately when run on a G4 (PowerPC) Mac Mini. xfdesktop crashes almost as quickly (I had to click on a desktop icon). See my comments in the forum about it - it may be a good idea to discover what happened because perhaps other packages should also be rebuilt. ** Affects: thunar (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Thunar segfaults on powerpc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297842 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 152913] Re: Meld syntax highlighting does not work
The hash causes syntax errors: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/meld/task.py", line 131, in iteration ret = task() File "/usr/lib/meld/filediff.py", line 671, in _set_files_internal set_highlighting_enabled( self.textview[i].get_buffer(), files[i], self.prefs.use_syntax_highlighting ) File "/usr/lib/meld/filediff.py", line 51, in set_highlighting_enabled mime_type = gnomevfs.get_mime_type( os.path.abspath(fname) ) RuntimeError: there was an error reading the file At the command line the brackets also need to be escaped but I don't think that is your problem when meld is called from perforce. The hash is most likely the problem. And since it looks like the hash is indicating a version number, you are stuck. Looks like a bug in the function gnomevfs.get_mime_type to me. -- Meld syntax highlighting does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152913 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 152913] Re: Meld syntax highlighting does not work
Same version works for me, comparing C++ and Ruby files. Perhaps it would be useful if you mentioned what your file types and file names are. Meld does not syntax highlight my C++ files if they are called *.bak, but I think that's fair. -- Meld syntax highlighting does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152913 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 136435] Re: smc - Secret Maryo Chronicles - unmet dependency in Gutsy
Ok, I have written a script that should detect simple environmental regressions - as in this bug. I will upload, and hopefully someone will at least give it a try with the next Ubuntu release before it goes out. The script requires Ruby, wajig and apt-file to be installed. Apt-file must be updated, which may require removal of the Ubuntu CD-Rom apt source. Unfortunately the script also requires a tiny fix in wajig, as mentioned here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/wajig/+bug/174261 ** Attachment added: "Environmental regression tester" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10755968/regression_test.rb -- smc - Secret Maryo Chronicles - unmet dependency in Gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 136435] Re: smc - Secret Maryo Chronicles - unmet dependency in Gutsy
I have almost completed the script to run basic regression tests. We'd just need a test machine with a big pipe to the full Ubuntu repository and it could at least verify that the packages with menu entries are startable in each new distribution release. ie. it would catch the above bug. -- smc - Secret Maryo Chronicles - unmet dependency in Gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 110838] Re: Oolite runs very slowly
I have confirmed this problem on Gutsy. glxinfo indicated direct rendering is enabled, and I do indeed have high-speed 3D in Tremulous and Warsow. The problem is quite obvious when leaving the first station, if the 'down' key is held to loop around, the station is rendered at around one frame per second. This is with a Intel 945 card, using the 'intel' driver, but I doubt that's relevant. I cannot confirm on my PPC machine since it seems oolite is not in the repos for that architecture. -- Oolite runs very slowly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110838 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 136435] Re: smc - Secret Maryo Chronicles - unmet dependency in Gutsy
Surely we need a regression testing system that can pick up bugs like this? Perhaps a script could install from a collection of packages and run each associated executable, expecting the program to remain running for a certain amount of time. Programs which require interaction should not ordinarily exit immediately, so you could detect if something has gone wrong. Another way would be to get a list of /usr/lib/* from apt-file for Breezy and compare that to /usr/lib/* for Gutsy. That's potentially a quick list of libraries that might have fallen off the bus. Of course, apt-file itself fell off the bus in Gutsy since there's no Contents.i386 file on the CDROM. -- smc - Secret Maryo Chronicles - unmet dependency in Gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136435 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
