Same here, it gets a bit annoying to use external screen. The only thing
that works for sure (at least for me) is to unplug everything from
laptop before locking the screen

package linux-image-3.2.0-24-generic 3.2.0-24
After running above commands and reinstalling linux-
image-3.2.0-24-generic package everything looks like it's ok now.
I think I broken something with system cleaner, and grub config, cause I
still must to stick with 3.2.0-17 kernel, any later won't boot - but
this is for another bug ticket.
