Public bug reported:

Description:    Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
Release:        16.04
Running on an Acer Aspire E1-470 Laptop.

After a fresh ubuntu installation the power off command didn't worked as
intended, neither the suspension function, neither the shutdown command
via terminal.

It appeared to be a problem with ACPI controlators, sadly, editing on
/etc/defaut/grub on the line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=off" also disables wifi and
networking in general.

The solution was to remove "acpi=off" and instead using, on /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=Linux"
