[Bug 1069898] Re: regression: cannot open network scanner with error unable to read device-id ret=-1

2013-10-28 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Hi,

I have read all the comments but I am not sure what to do (my english is
poor...).

The problem occurs on the PC of a family member of myself and I cannot
install packages that broke something else or break update manager or
synaptic.

I need to make working the scanner included with her HP PHotosmart
Premium C309a, is there a user-friendly solution ?

I think I understood that the problem is fixed, will the fix come
automatically in a next update?

Thank you for your help.

PS the PC has Ubuntu 12.10 i386.

[Bug 1046741] Re: Wireless very slow on thinkpad x61s with 12.04

2012-09-07 Thread Lilian ROBERT
I found this : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-910606-start-0.html

I tried the following :
1) create a new file /etc/modprobe.d/iwl4965-disable11n.conf with the following
content:
 options iwl4965 11n_disable=1
2) Reboot

It seems to be a good workaround as I am now able to do apt-get update
and install new packages.

I will try to remove the manually installed 3.5rc5 kernel.

2012-06-29 Thread Lilian ROBERT
I am sorry but I really don't know which package is concerned by this
bug.

The title of this bug is wrong. I don't know if I mistyped it or if
something else went wrong but the right title should be Wireless very
slow on Thinkpad T61 (Intel 4965) since 12.04.

Thank you for your help

Regards

2012-06-27 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I upgraded to 12.04 LTS. First with dist upgrade. Then, I formatted and
installed from scratch. The result is the same : a very slow internet
connection when connected in Wifi.

It is very annoying and I really hope there will be a solution in a next
update.

Thank you for your help

[Bug 435379] [NEW] Horrible sound at session start

2009-09-23 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a PC that has a problem since many ubuntu versions.

Each time I open my session, an horrible sound plays on speakers. Sounds
like the old modems but without fluctuation during 3-4 seconds. Then, it
stops and the ubuntu melody plays normally.

This is very annoying because it is an aggressive sound, especially when
I forget to put down the volume of my speakers before powering up my
computer.

Yesterday, I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 9.04 and the problem
remains.

The computer is a professionnal IBM ThinkCentre.

[Bug 423577] [NEW] Horrible sound at session start

2009-09-03 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a PC that has a problem since many ubuntu versions.

Each time I open my session, an horrible sound plays on speakers. Sounds
like the old modems but without fluctuation during 3-4 seconds. Then, it
stops and the ubuntu melody plays normally.

This is very annoying because it is an aggressive sound, especially when
I forget to put down the volume of my speakers before powering up my
computer.

Yesterday, I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 9.04 and the problem
remains.

The computer is a professionnal IBM tower.

[Bug 377934] [NEW] firefox looses the visible on any desktop option after popups

2009-05-18 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

Hi,

When working on my computer, I always check Show Windows from All
Desktops for firefox.

Since I upgraded to Intrepid Ibex, firefox looses this option each times a
popup appears :
1. run firefox
2. right-click on firefox in the taskbar + toujours sur l'espace de travail
visible (i am in french)
3. check that firefox appears on all desktop, OK
4. browse the web, OK
5. browse a site that do a popup (javascript alert for example)

Then, firefox only appears on the last desktop it was before the popup.

And I should recheck the option to have firefox on all desktops again.

[Bug 309003] Re: System freeze with caps lock and scroll lock blinking on Intrepid

2009-01-19 Thread Lilian ROBERT
After a few weeks using the ethernet connection instead of the wireless.
Yesterday, I tried again and my laptop is running for more than 24h
without any freeze. Maybe the problem has been resolved by a kernel
update ?

[Bug 300790] Re: nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra doesn't work with proprietary 177 driver

2008-11-24 Thread Lilian ROBERT
It is not my own PC. I asked the owner to give me the log file with the
following steps :
1. Power On your computer and open your session
2. Activate the proprietary 177 driver through System/Administration/Restricted
drivers manager
3. Restart and you should get a black screen
4. Restart with ALT+SysRq+S E I U B and do ESC at GRUB boot time to launch the
recovery mode
5. When started in recovery mode, choose root.
6. Copy the log file : cp /var/log/Xorg.0.log
/home/toto/Desktop/
7. Replace the proprietary driver with the free one : vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf
nvidia - nv
8. Restart with reboot command
9. Open your session and send me the log file present on your desktop

He just tells me he can't follow this to the end because when he did the
second step, a download/installation occurs and after that, everything
works fine (he could activate the desktop effects).

So everything is now ok, except I can't understand the problem we
encountered first.

IDE drives are ntfs formatted and let unused.

The install process woks well. When rebooting, GRUB gives me an error 2.

Public bug reported:

Hi,

I juste installed Ubuntu 8.10 64bits on a 64bits PC equiped with nVidia
GeForce 6800 Ultra video card.

The desktop effects did not work, so I go to System/Administration/Restricted
drivers where three version were proposed :
- 96
- 173
- 177 (recommanded)

When I selected 177 and clicked activate, nothing happened...

I go to synaptic and installed all the updates, and selected nvidia-
glx-177. Everything installed and I rebooted.

When ubuntu tried to load XServer, only a black screen remains.
Impossible to do CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE or CTRL+ALT+F1. Only ALT+SysRq+S E I
U B allows me to properly reboot.

After booting in recovery mode, I tried to reconfigure X : dpkg-
reconfigure xserver-xorg. Only questions about my keyboard were asked to
me and the problem remains.

I tried to install the 173 driver, through the restricted drivers. I
installed, but after, same result.

[Bug 243745] [NEW] hardy heron does not boot on ide disk

2008-06-28 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I had a problem with a machine. Ubuntu 7.10 was working properly. After
upgrade to 8.04, the system does not boot, it displays busybox initramfs
with no specific error.

After booting with Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop CD, gparted give me errors on
partition. I reinstalled, same result. The disk was a little bit old. We
bought a new one, installed ubuntu on it, same result.

The workaround was given by the frenchspeaking users : http://forum

Adding the all_generic_ide option at the kernel line on grub solved
the problem.

[Bug 217765] [NEW] install process stops when applying partitions changes

2008-04-15 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

Yesterday, I tried two times to install hardy beta from the cd on two
differents machines. In both cases, the install process stops with no
error message, only the waiting mouse cursor turning again and again.

Steps to reproduce :
- start the livecd and run the installation tool on a machine where windows xp
is installed
- at partition step, choose manual
- delete the windows partition and create all the required partitions for ubuntu
- apply the changes

A workaround that works for me was to
- killall ubiquity
- killall parted_server
- killall partman
- do the changes with gparted
- run the installation tool again

[Bug 208480] Re: missing shares-admin

2008-04-09 Thread Lilian ROBERT
@Patrice : Thank you, usershare seems to be very interesting !

Even if it is a very good thing to let users share folders without admin

owner (admin) of the computer should have a tool that gives a
centralized view of all the shares (usershare and standard samba
shares).

And I also think the removal of a graphical tools for managing nfs

[Bug 158273] The i386 live-cd doesn't boot on 64 bits

2007-10-29 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

I don't think it is really a bug, since a i386 Ubuntu is maybe not
supposed to boot on a AMD64...

I tried to install Ubuntu Gutsy on a 64bits PC. I put the desktop CD in
the PC, the start menu appears, I choosed the language and the keyboard
layout and started with the first option.

Ubuntu started to boot but stopped and displays BusyBox without an error
message.

It took me some time to remember that this PC has a 64bits processor,
maybe an explicit error message would be welcome.

[Bug 152580] Re: Upgrade to gutsy beta crashes because of insufficient disc space

2007-10-18 Thread Lilian ROBERT
It's strange... I am trying to upgrade my professional computer. I moved
/var/cache/apt to /home which is on a different partition and has 2.0G
of free space.

But the error message is the same and the space it is telling me to free
match the difference between the space needed and the free space of my /
partition...

[Bug 152580] Re: Upgrade to gutsy beta crashes because of insufficient disc space

2007-10-15 Thread Lilian ROBERT
I think it is a bug because of the required disc space indicated by
update-manager. The first time, it tells me 1100M, the second time 1230M
and each times I tried, after I freed some space, it gives me a
different number, each time bigger.

In my mind, if update-manager tells me that 1100M of free space is
required, if I delete logs and uninstall packages to free the required
space, the next time the upgrade should work.

[Bug 152580] Upgrade to gutsy beta crashes because of insufficient disc space

2007-10-14 Thread Lilian ROBERT
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 on a IBM Thinkpad T40p.

I started the upgrade to gutsy beta with the command
update-manager -d

In the step Modification des dépôts logiciels en cours (sorry I am in French.
Its the second step), after the confirmation message for disabling some
repositories, after the confirmation message informing about the packages that
are not supported anymore by Ubuntu), the following error messages appears :
===

sudo apt-get clean ».
===

The first time I tried, the message was talking about 1100M of disc
space required. I freed some disc space and retried. But that didn't
work and then, each times I try, each times I free disc space and each
times the message tells me that more space is required. Now, I have
1200M free in / and I don't know what I could delete...

How could I upgrade ?
