[Bug 1069898] Re: regression: cannot open network scanner with error unable to read device-id ret=-1
Hi, I have read all the comments but I am not sure what to do (my english is poor...). The problem occurs on the PC of a family member of myself and I cannot install packages that broke something else or break update manager or synaptic. I need to make working the scanner included with her HP PHotosmart Premium C309a, is there a user-friendly solution ? I think I understood that the problem is fixed, will the fix come automatically in a next update? Thank you for your help. [Bug 1046741] Re: Wireless very slow on thinkpad x61s with 12.04
I found this : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-910606-start-0.html I tried the following : 1) create a new file /etc/modprobe.d/iwl4965-disable11n.conf with the following content: options iwl4965 11n_disable=1 2) Reboot It seems to be a good workaround as I am now able to do apt-get update and install new packages. [Bug 300790] Re: nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra doesn't work with proprietary 177 driver
It is not my own PC. I asked the owner to give me the log file with the following steps : 1. Power On your computer and open your session 2. Activate the proprietary 177 driver through System/Administration/Restricted drivers manager 3. Restart and you should get a black screen 4. Restart with ALT+SysRq+S E I U B and do ESC at GRUB boot time to launch the recovery mode 5. When started in recovery mode, choose root. 6. Copy the log file : cp /var/log/Xorg.0.log /home/toto/Desktop/ 7. Replace the proprietary driver with the free one : vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf nvidia - nv 8. Restart with reboot command 9. Open your session and send me the log file present on your desktop He just tells me he can't follow this to the end because when he did the second step, a download/installation occurs and after that, everything works fine (he could activate the desktop effects). Public bug reported: Yesterday, I tried two times to install hardy beta from the cd on two differents machines. In both cases, the install process stops with no error message, only the waiting mouse cursor turning again and again. Steps to reproduce : - start the livecd and run the installation tool on a machine where windows xp is installed - at partition step, choose manual - delete the windows partition and create all the required partitions for ubuntu - apply the changes A workaround that works for me was to - killall ubiquity - killall parted_server - killall partman - do the changes with gparted - run the installation tool again ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- install process stops when applying partitions changes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/217765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 208480] Re: missing shares-admin
@Patrice : Thank you, usershare seems to be very interesting ! Even if it is a very good thing to let users share folders without admin rights and also allow optional guest access to these shares, I think the owner (admin) of the computer should have a tool that gives a centralized view of all the shares (usershare and standard samba shares). And I also think the removal of a graphical tools for managing nfs shares is a regression... [Bug 208480] Re: missing shares-admin
The removal of shares-admin is a problem for me too... I think it is a good idea to make sharing easy from nautilus (if it works), but IMHO it is also important to be able to manage the shares globally, in a tool that displays all the shares in one place. -- missing shares-admin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208480 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Patric Vetsel : I installed but it doesn't start. After a search, I found this is a know problem (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /system-config-samba/+bug/185543) and solved it with sudo touch /etc/libuser.conf. Now it starts but doesn't show me the share I just create through nautilus-share. Maybe a developer will come here one day and run gedit in debug mode to tell us what is the cause of this error... Hi, Same problem for me. I use Ubuntu Gutsy in a mixed environment (Windows Server shares, linux samba shares). Gedit can't save modifications on an existing file located on a remote cifs share. [Bug 158273] The i386 live-cd doesn't boot on 64 bits
Public bug reported: I don't think it is really a bug, since a i386 Ubuntu is maybe not supposed to boot on a AMD64... I tried to install Ubuntu Gutsy on a 64bits PC. I put the desktop CD in the PC, the start menu appears, I choosed the language and the keyboard layout and started with the first option. [Bug 152580] Re: Upgrade to gutsy beta crashes because of insufficient disc space
I think it is a bug because of the required disc space indicated by update-manager. The first time, it tells me 1100M, the second time 1230M and each times I tried, after I freed some space, it gives me a different number, each time bigger. In my mind, if update-manager tells me that 1100M of free space is required, if I delete logs and uninstall packages to free the required space, the next time the upgrade should work. -- Upgrade to gutsy beta crashes because of insufficient disc space https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152580 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I started the upgrade to gutsy beta with the command update-manager -d In the step Modification des dépôts logiciels en cours (sorry I am in French. Its the second step), after the confirmation message for disabling some repositories, after the confirmation message informing about the packages that are not supported anymore by Ubuntu), the following error messages appears : === Espace disponible sur le disque insuffisant Abandon de la mise à niveau. la mise à niveau nécessite une quantité totale d'espace libre de 1769M sur le disque « / ». Veuillez libérer au moins 396M d'espace disque supplémentaire sur « / ». I freed some disc space and retried. But that didn't work and then, each times I try, each times I free disc space and each times the message tells me that more space is required.
