[Bug 967091] Re: Wrong tint in flash when it uses video acceleration
Once upon a time, there were four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. But Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Then Somebody got angry about it, because it was Everybody's job. But since Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, and Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it, it ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody and Nobody did the job that Anybody could have done in the first place. [Bug 967091] Re: Wrong tint with Nvidia after upgrading to 11.2
Alright, I voted this up on the Adobe site given by jnv: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bugid=3164063 so everybody who is affected, PLEASE make an account there and vote for it too. It's got only three votes so far which is clearly not enough. As for a workaround, if there is really no global setting to disable HW acceleration, my vote would go to modifying all users' Flash settings files (including default new user template) during libvdpau installation, or during flashplayer installation, whichever occurs later. Shouldn't that be possible? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/967091 Title: Wrong tint with Nvidia after upgrading to 11.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libvdpau/+bug/967091/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 967091] Re: Wrong tint with Nvidia after upgrading to 11.2
Ok, just wondering if I understand this right (this is a real question not sarcasm): the Ubuntu people can't update Precise so that hardware acceleration for Flash is disabled out-of-the-box on the affected systems, at least for the moment? Because Adobe would have to allow it and currently they don't? Would they still have to allow it if the bug- fixing file was moved to another package on which the flashplugin packages could then depend? Can we maybe help by bugging people at Adobe? Who would I need to contact? Of course I know now that all I have to do is disable hardware acceleration. But I still think it would be great if other people (who might not know what do do about such a bug at all) didn't have to search high and low for an answer. So far Ubuntu has been The Linux That Just Kinda Works - would be great if that reputation could be kept. Even a message directing people to disable this hardware acceleration that appears at the first browser start, or when first playing a likely-to- be-affected video, would help.
[Bug 967091] Re: Wrong tint with Nvidia after upgrading to 11.2
Importance: Undecided, Assigned To:Unassigned Is it only me who thinks this must be a bad joke? This affects lots of people (not that many bugs have close to 250 people saying they're affected, in reality it probably affects 1000s), using a very popular brand of GPUs, on a very popular web site. If Ubuntu can't ship a fix, then ship a workaround, for heaven's sake. If flashplayer is unmaintained, it's time to throw it out and go with one of the clones, even if they're not perfect. There *will* be bad security holes discovered even in 11.2 at some point in the not too far future, you can bet on that. If there's any way I can help to make that happen, please tell me. [Bug 983681] [NEW] Floppy keeps running forever after every access
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu Precise, the floppy disk drive's motor keeps running forever as soon as the floppy is accessed (say, by doing a mdir a: or a fdformat /dev/fd0, or a dd if=/dev/fd0 ... ), and the floppy drive's activity LED stays lit. Only when the disk is removed from the drive, the drive stops. I'd expect the drive to stop spinning a few seconds after the access is finished. The accessing command returns normally and I can still access the drive normally by giving another command afterwards. The problem is purely the failure to deselect the drive and/or turn off the drive motor line. This is a standard IRQ6/DMA2 floppy drive connected directly to the motherboard's built in FDC with a standard 34-wire ribbon floppy cable. The bug happens both with a normal 1.44MB drive and with a 1.2MB (5.25 inch) drive. The drives do not exhibit this problem in DOS or Windows running on the same physical hardware, and I do not remember having this problem in Oneiric either. [Bug 983707] [NEW] oss-compat simply does not work
Public bug reported: According to the package description it is supposed to provide ensure compatibility to programs that are still trying to access the old /dev/dsp interface. But it does not do that. And looking at the list of files provided in the oss-compat package in Precise, how could it? It supplies only a changelog, a license text file, and some directories, nothing else. In short the package seems to be completely useless in Precise. [Bug 969236] [NEW] Launcher doesn't reliably reveal if set to auto-hide
Public bug reported: Just upgraded from Oneiric to Precise. Now when I set the unity launcher to auto-hide, it will hide well, but to reveal it I have to repeatedly bump my mouse into the left edge. Usually the left edge will just show a little darkish flash effect but no launcher appears. I'd say it appears about 25% or 30% of the time, the rest I only get this flash effect. Usining nvidia-current drivers, Unity 3D, all packages current as of this moment. I'm not using twinview, there is only one monitor (CRT by way of DVI-to-5xBNC adapter) connected to the GTX 260 card. Therefore I think it's not a duplicate of #938227. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969236 Title: Launcher doesn't reliably reveal if set to auto-hide To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/969236/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 753883] Re: update-manager crashed with gnome-games in _run_in_dialog(): Depends: quadrapassel but it is not installed
Obviously, and I could have told you that before. The problem with quadrapassel not being correctly installed was fixed within a day of it occurring. [Bug 753883] Re: update-manager crashed with gnome-games in _run_in_dialog(): Depends: quadrapassel but it is not installed
Well, as long as there are no packages with broken dependencies, unfortunately I don't know how to reproduce it. Is there a way to go back in time with the Ubuntu package system, to the point where the original quadrapassel problem existed?
