I have seen this on Gutsy as well. I do a
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
and then KNEtworkmanager initializes correctly. Can you see if this works for
you?

time and connects to wireless every time (after asking KWallet password)
When right-click on knetwork manager on systray and 'quit' it will ask

I couldn't reproduce the problem on Fiesty (final) or Gutsy. (Gutsy has
kNteworkManager v0.2). If I boot up without wired connection,
Knetworkmanager prompts me to enter password (for WAP or KDEWallet -
depending on how you have it configured)
Can you check this again with Fiesty or Gutsy and
I am using KNetworkManager v0.2 with Kubuntu Gutsy. The option to specify TKIP
as a WPA option is there. See attached screenshot.

I hear you. But looks like more KDE systray icons are moving towards this
behavior.
Left click : bring up the application
Right click : options
Amarok does the same; left click brings up the main Amarok window, right click
shows options : play, stop ..etc
you can try opening a wish at KDE bug
I am using Gutsy, and this seems to work okay. Can you try with Gutsy and
confirm please?

I have a Thinkpad T61 with Atheros card. I am running Kubuntu Gutsy.
KNetworkManager (v0.2) is behaving correctly. Can you do a
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
in console and see if you can see WiFi access points afterwards

1) if I try to play it by streaming then Amarok crashes (buffering messages

I had experienced an almost similar problem:
1) start playing an stream (playlist gets populated with stream)
2) stop
3) network settings change (get a new IP via dhcp or laptop hibernates and
comes back up)
4) try to play the same item in *PLAYLIST*
-- error
5) delete the contents
Running Fiesty (Kubuntu 7.04 beta)
First when I try to play mp3s in Amarok, the dialog pops up asking to
install MP3 support. But Amarok crashes when doing so !!
Then I have manually installed 'libxine1-extracodecs' and
'libxine1-ffmpeg' codecs. Now I can play MP3s. I had to restart KDE
